New details about the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Switch 2 update revealed

While it was known that Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet would receive a free update for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console, no specific details were shared. Nintendo has now shared more about the Switch 2 updates and we have a slightly better idea of what to expect for Scarlet and Violet.

Scheduled to be released on June 5, the free update for Scarlet and Violet will primarily affect two aspects of the game:

  • Visuals: Optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2 display and high-resolution TVs for improved image quality.
  • Frame rate: Improved for smoother movement on Nintendo Switch 2.

Update: The Japanese site for the games updated with the two screenshots below showing the game running with the Switch 2 patch.

Hopefully this addresses some of the performance issues that have plagued the titles but it has yet to be seen how extensively the update will improve things. It is also unknown if this will affect things like pop-in and draw distance.
