The Japanese Pokémon TCG sets Black Bolt and White Flare have been announced and, as their names suggest, focus on Pokémon and characters from Pokémon Black and Pokémon White. They will release in Japan on June 6 in booster packs, 35-card “deluxe” packs and a special “Card File Set” which includes a Victini Illustration Rare, three-pocket card file and three booster packs of each set.

What makes this set special for many Generation V fans is the fact that all 156 Unovan Pokémon will be featured and each one will be getting an Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare! Cards featuring artwork for the Black and White starters Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott, as well as their evolutions, can be seen below.

New BWR Rarity
A new rarity labeled as “BWR” has been revealed and may stand for Black White Rare. Zekrom ex and Reshiram ex will have BWR rares and feature stunning near monochromatic designs.
English release details for Black Bolt and White Flare
A special expansion featuring the cards from the Japanese sets Black Bolt and White Flare will release in English on July 18 according to fellow fansite PokéBeach. The product line-up will include both Reshiram and Zekrom-themed Elite Trainer Boxes, as well as Binder Collections featuring the two Legendary Pokémon, a Poster Collection and a total of eight Mini Tins. Later there will also be Tech Sticker Collections and two Illustration Rare boxes, as well as two Booster Bundles.
Are you as hyped as I am for this set? I can’t wait to see the Illustration Rare cards for some of my favorite Pokémon from Unova. Crossing my fingers that they print enough of the set when it comes abroad to counteract scalping.
