A new year comes with new events in Pokémon GO and January brings some fun additions to the game and events to look forward to! Learn more about the raid bosses, event dates and Community Day for the month below.

January raid bosses and event dates
Max Battles
The Pokémon available to challenge in Max Battles will change slightly each week in January and the schedule can be found below.

Pokémon Raids
Both Five-Star Raids and Mega Raids will feature Pokémon that change at different times of the month, so be sure to note the dates below.
Five-Star Raids

Shadow Raids will feature Shadow Registeel during weekends from January 4 until February 2.
Raid Hours held from 6 PM – 7 PM local time will feature Giratina (Altered Forme) on January 1, Palkia on January 8 and 15, Deoxys (Attack Forme) and Deoxys (Defense Forme) on January 22 and Dialga on January 29 and February 5.

Spotlight Hours will feature Voltorb and Hisuian Voltorb on January 7, Roselia on January 14, Paldean Wooper on January 21 and Yungoos on January 28.
Fidough Fetch event details
From Friday, January 3, at 3 p.m. to Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10 p.m. PST, there will be a Global Challenge taking place that gives the chance for players to bring Fidough to Pokémon GO! Players can make Nice Curveball Throws to unlock the rewards below:
- Level 1: Double XP for catching Pokémon
- Level 2: Double Stardust for catching Pokémon, a new event-themed Field Research task and Fidough will be added to GO! It can be evolved into Dachsbun with 50 Fidough Candy
- Level 3: 2.5x the XP for catching Pokémon, additional event-themed Field Research tasks and Hisuian Growlithe and Greavard will start spawning in the wild
- Level 4: 2.5x the Stardust for catching Pokémon
- Level 5: Triple XP and Stardust for catching Pokémon
- Level 6: 4x XP and Stardust for catching Pokémon
In addition, the event also increases your chances of finding Shiny Voltorb and Shiny Electrike in the wild. Growlithe, Snubbull, Poochyena and Lillipup will also be spawning.
Players will be able to get event-themed Field Research tasks from spinning PokéStops during the event.
Sprigatito Community Day details
In the Dual Destiny Pokémon GO season, developer Niantic is experimenting with new Community Day changes and starting with Sprigatito’s Community Day, there will be “new free Timed Research, paid Special Research, and rare Field Research as you search for the featured Pokémon with Season-exclusive Special Backgrounds“.
The event will take place on Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time and feature Paldea’s Grass-type Partner Pokémon Sprigatito.
If players evolve Sprigatito’s evolution Floragato to Meowscarada between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. it will learn the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.
In addition the the Community Day move Frenzy Plant, Meowscarada will also be able to learn the Charged Attack Flower Trick, which is its signature move.
Event bonuses:
- 3× Stardust for catching Pokémon.
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
- 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokémon.
- Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event will last for three hours.
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!
- One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of two for the day.*
- Trades will require 50% less Stardust.*
Paid Special Research will be available to purchase but all players will be able to participate in the Community Day Continued Timed Research which will last for a week after the Community Day and reward encounters with Sprigatito that has the Special Background.
Stickers featuring Sprigatito will also be available in the in-game shop on the day of the event.
Mega Gallade Raid Day event details
Mega Gallade will be debuting in Pokémon GO during a special raid event taking place on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time.
In addition to Mega Gallade appearing commonly in raids, the following bonuses will be active:
- Increased chance of encountering Shiny Gallade from Mega Raids
- Remote Raid Pass limit increased to 20 from Friday, January 10, at 4 p.m. to Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 7 p.m. PST
- Receive up to five additional free Raid Passes from spinning Gym Photo Discs (seven total including the daily two)
There will also be a paid event ticket that increases the Raid Passes you can get from Gyms and awards more Rare Candy XL, XP and Stardust.
