The new year is just around the corner and Pokémon GO is celebrating with a special event! Plus, a Hatch Day for later this month was announced. Learn about both below.

New Year’s event details
The event will run from Monday, December 30, 2024, at 10 a.m. until Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 8 p.m. local time and featured themed Pokémon spawns, raids and bonuses!
Wild Pokémon
- Jigglypuff wearing a ribbon*
- Hoothoot wearing a New Year’s outfit*
- Wurmple wearing a party hat*
One-Star Raids
- Pikachu wearing a snowflake beanie*
Three-Star Raids
- Raticate wearing a party hat*
- Wobbuffet wearing a party hat*
*May appear in their Shiny form
Event bonus
- Pokémon caught with an Excellent Throw reward 2,025 XP
There will also be event-themed Field Research tasks, Timed Research and a paid research ticket.
Charged Embers Hatch Day details
Taking place on Sunday, December 29, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. local time, players will be able to hatch Elekid and Magby more easily from 2 km Eggs. There are bonuses during this time, but also extended bonuses that are active over the weekend as well.
Event bonuses
- 2× Candy from hatching Eggs
- Increased chance of hatching Shiny Elekid and Shiny Magby
- Increased chance of receiving 2 km Eggs from spinning PokéStops
Extended event bonuses
Not limited to the 3-hour Hatch Day event window, these bonuses will be active from Friday, December 27, at 10 a.m. until Sunday, December 29, 2024, at 5 p.m. local time.
- 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during this time
- Event-themed Field Research tasks
Paid research will also be available for the event.
