Pokémon GO announces first details of its Halloween event

Players of Pokémon GO can look forward to the debut of Morpeko and a host of spooky wild Pokémon in the 2024 Halloween Part 1 event taking place from Tuesday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m. to Monday, October 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time. Read on to find out more!

Morpeko debuts in Pokémon GO

Morpeko will be available to catch for the first time in GO and features a new battle mechanic that changes its form when using a Charged Attack. This will be available initially only in Team GO Rocket battles and in the Battle League.

Attack details:

  • Aura Wheel (Electric)Available in Full Belly Mode
    • Trainer Battles: 100 power, increases the user’s Attack by one stage
  • Aura Wheel (Dark)Available in Hangry Mode
    • Trainer Battles: 100 power, increases the user’s Attack by one stage

Players can earn Morpeko encounters through Battle League rewards, with additional encounters as part of the premium track.

  • Sobble

Trainers may encounter the following Pokémon on their adventures during the event:

  • Misdreavus*

  • Female Frillish*
  • Zorua*
  • Litwick*
  • Greavard
  • Sableye* – Rare
  • Absol* – Rare

Halloween Part 1 event bonuses

  • Event Bonuses
  • 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • Increased chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better.
  • Increased chance to encounter Shiny Umbreon in raids and Shiny Zorua in the wild.

In addition, players can get a free Timed Research which includes encounters with Spiritomb and Morpeko!

Field Research Tasks may also award players with encounters with the following Pokémon: Sableye*, Scraggy*, Golett*, Sandygast, Morpeko, Nymble, Greavard and, in rare cases, Spiritomb*.
