Max Out season and its first events detailed for Pokémon GO

Things are getting a lot bigger in Pokémon GO, mainly because they’re introducing the Dynamax mechanic from Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield! Read below to find out more about the new Max Out season and its first events.

New details for the Max Out season in GO

The next season in GO is called Max Out and runs from September 3 at 10:00 AM until December 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Players can expect:

  • Max Out Special Research that will ultimately reward players with a partner Pokémon from Galar, Grookey, Scorbunny or Sobble. Your choice will also impact the display of your Postcard Book background.
  • Dynamax Pokémon in Max Battles will be able to be challenged at new Power Spots. Visiting them can grant Max Particles, which have yet to be fully explained.
  • New Research Breakthrough encounters include Galarian Weezing, Galarian Mr. Mime, Excadrill, Scraggy, Furfrou and Jangmo-o.
  • New Pokémon will appear in different biomes.
  • Pokémon Eggs will be updated for the new season.
  • The following bonuses will be available this season: Increased XP for a seven-day PokéStop spin streak, Increased XP and Stardust for a seven-day Pokémon catch streak, Increased XP from going up a Friendship level, One additional Candy when trading Pokémon and Trainers level 31 and above will receive one guaranteed Candy XL when trading Pokémon.

GO All Out event

Pokémon from Galar will be making their debut in GO! From Tuesday, September 3, at 10:00 a.m. to Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. local time, the following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild (*An asterisk denotes Pokémon that may be Shiny):

  • Grookey
  • Scorbunny
  • Sobble
  • Skwovet*
  • Wooloo*

In addition, there will be special research with branching paths that allow players to choose an encounter with either Grookey, Scorbunny or Sobble.

Egg hatches and field research encounters will also be updated for the duration and players can earn 2× XP for catching Pokémon and 2× XP for evolving Pokémon.

GO Big event details

From Tuesday, September 10, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time, the following Pokémon will make their Dynamax debut in one-star Max Battles (*An asterisk denotes Pokémon that may be Shiny):

  • Bulbasaur*
  • Charmander*
  • Squirtle*
  • Skwovet*
  • Wooloo*

During the event, a Seasonal Special Research will be available to all trainers and rewards Max Particles, avatar items and more. This research can be claimed at any time during the season, September 3 until December 3.

2× XP for winning a Max Battle and 2× XP for spinning PokéStops bonuses will be active during the event, as well as encounters with Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Skwovet and Wooloo for completing some Field Research Tasks.

GO Battle League updates

Players who are serious about PVP in GO should read the full official post, but in the Max Out season the Battle League has new rewards and encounters for players.

In addition, special rewards for climbing the ranks will allow you to earn Allister’s outfit for your avatar:

  • At Ace rank, you’ll receive shoes inspired by Allister.
  • At Veteran rank, you’ll receive a mask inspired by Allister.
  • At Expert rank, you’ll receive an outfit inspired by Allister.
  • At Legend rank, you’ll receive a pose inspired by Allister.

A special GO Battle Weekend: Max Out will be held Saturday, November 2, at 12:00 a.m. to Sunday, November 3, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. local time.

September events

More details about what players can look forward to in September 2024 in Pokémon GO have been revealed:

  • Kyogre, Groudon and Zacian can be found in Five-Star Raids and Shiny Zacian may be encountered by players for the first time
  • Mega Absol, Mega Houndoom and Mega Gardevoir will be in Mega Raids
  • Shadow Raikou will appear in Shadow Raids during weekends
  • Kyogre and Groudon will both get two Raid Hours during the month
  • Wooloo, Dewpider, Wobbuffet and Machop will be featured in Spotlight Hours
