We’re covering the latest news for upcoming titles Pokémon Scarlet and Violet! As soon as the new trailer is here, we’ll be embedding it below and sharing the latest information in a text format as well for those who can’t watch it.
New Pokémon
Check out all of the new Pokémon revealed for Scarlet & Violet so far on the ‘New Pokémon’ page!
- Klawf, the Ambush Pokémon. A Rock-type crab-like species with a new ability called Anger Shell, which lowers its Defense and Sp. Def stats but boosts its Attack, Sp. Atk, and Speed stats when its HP is half or less. We’ve also created a ‘New Abilities’ page for Scarlet and Violet now!
- Armarouge, the Fire Warrior Pokémon. A Scarlet-exclusive Fire/Psychic Pokémon with new move Armor Cannon. Special Fire attack that is powerful, but lowers user’s Defense and Sp. Defense.
- Ceruledge, the Fire Blades Pokémon. A Violet-exclusive Fire/Ghost Pokémon with new move Bitter Blade which restores half the damage it deals to the user.
New characters
- Brassius is the Gym Leader of Artazon and specializes in Grass-type Pokémon.
- Geeta is the chairwoman of the Pokémon League and one of its Champions.
- Mela is the boss of Team Star’s Fire crew, known as the Schedar Squad.
New gameplay features
- The “Let’s Go!” feature allows you to take one Pokémon out of its Poké Ball and have it with you while traversing Paldea. Furthermore, you can direct the Pokémon to search for items or even auto-battle wild Pokémon. Auto-battling will allow it to gain XP while you are exploring nearby.
- The three paths which you can explore independently within Scarlet and Violet seem to be the Gym Challenge, Path of Legends and Starfall Street:
- Gym Challenge is the traditional gym battle challenge to become Champion (or one of them in Paldea). Unlike other games, gyms can be tackled in an order of your choosing. Scarlet and Violet introduce Gym Tests which are unique to each gym and help you learn more about the region’s customs or city/town’s unique features. One example seems to be finding Sunflora.
- Path of Legends tasks you with helping Arven locate the rare ingredient Herba Mystica. Titan Pokémon guard these herbs and are bigger and stronger than their normal counterparts.
- Starfall Street will see you taking on rebellious students that are a part of Team Star and defeating their bases, each led by a boss. They ride flashy Starmobiles.
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Edition Switch OLED
It was also revealed today that the Nintendo Switch OLED model will be getting a special Pokémon Scarlet & Violet edition. It features Koraidon and Miraidon on the dock and various Pokémon designs on the console and Joycons. Check it out in the trailer above!
