Pokémon GO will be introducing Mega Evolution tomorrow if gaming site Polygon is to be believed. It, and several other outlets, have gotten an exclusive first look at the feature and how it works.
How to Mega Evolve your Pokémon
To Mega Evolve, players will need to acquire a new resource called Mega Energy. Mega Evolution will grant a burst of power for raid and gym battles, as well as battles against friends. The current limitations are that they cannot defend gyms or be used in the Pokémon GO Battle League.
Players are limited to one Mega Evolved Pokémon at a time, so wait until a Mega Evolution runs out of time before trying to Mega Evolve a second.
At launch, Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill will be the first to be able to Mega Evolve.
How to collect Mega Energy
Players will need to participate in Raid Battles against Mega Evolved Pokémon to gain Mega Energy. The amount you earn will depend on how quickly you and other players are able to clear the raid, with more being awarded the faster it is completed.
Pokémon will cost more Mega Energy to Mega Evolve the first time than subsequent times.
