Be still, your heart! Get ready for new Research Breakthrough encounters, Shadow Legendary Pokémon, and debuting Legendary Pokémon coming in February. This month will also feature events celebrating the Sinnoh region and Valentine’s Day, as well as entirely new kinds of events that we’re testing. There’s much to look forward to during this season of love.

    1. Save Shadow Raikou from Giovanni!
    2. February Research Breakthrough encounter: Woobat with bonus Woobat Candies!
    3. Tornadus zooms into five-star raids!
    4. A Sinnoh region celebration event
    5. Pokémon GO Valentine’s Day Celebration 2020

Save Shadow Raikou from Giovanni!

If you’ve completed your most recent set of Team GO Rocket Special Research, then you’ll have access to February’s Team GO Rocket Special Research, A Professor’s Work Is Never Done. This time, you’ll be tasked to defeat Team GO Rocket, its leaders, and Giovanni once more for a chance to rescue the Legendary Shadow Pokémon Raikou! Be sure to finish this Special Research by the end of February before Shadow Raikou leaves.

Team GO Rocket never rests, Trainers, and neither can we! Be on the lookout for new Team GO Rocket Special Research from Professor Willow every month. For more information, please see our help center article.

February Research Breakthrough encounter: Woobat with bonus Woobat Candies!

From Saturday, February 1, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Sunday, March 1, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8), the Bat Pokémon Woobat with bonus Woobat Candies will be available as Research Breakthrough encounters! This Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region will be making its Pokémon GO debut.

Can you guess why it’s making its debut in February, the month of love? Well, look no further than its cute nose! This Psychic- and Flying-type Pokémon uses the suction from its nose to stick to cave walls as it sleeps. The heart-shaped mark it leaves on skin is said to bring good fortune, so we hope an encounter with Woobat will bring you not only good luck but also a new friend!

Tornadus zooms into five-star raids!

From Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8), Tornadus, the Cyclone Pokémon, will be in five-star raids! This Pokémon originally discovered in the Unova region will be making its Pokémon GO debut. It’s said that when Tornadus flies, it creates winds so powerful that everything surrounding it gets blown away.

This Flying-type Pokémon could be a legendary addition to your battle team, so get ready to take it on with Pokémon that know Electric-, Ice-, and Rock-type attacks!

A Sinnoh region celebration event

In appreciation of all the great Pokémon that we’ve befriended that were originally discovered in the Sinnoh region, we’re happy to announce a Sinnoh region celebration event! From Friday, February 7, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, February 10, 2020, at 10:00 p.m. local time, Pokémon originally discovered in the Sinnoh region will be appearing more often in the wild and in raids.

All 7 km Eggs obtained during the event period will exclusively hatch certain Pokémon from the Sinnoh region, including Budew, Combee, Bronzor, Gible, Riolu, Hippopotas, and Mantyke. Event-specific Field Research tasks will reward you with encounters with Pokémon that were originally discovered in this beautiful region, as well as Sinnoh Stones. And last but not least, if you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Riolu or a Shiny Hippopotas! Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the event.

Pokémon GO Valentine’s Day Celebration 2020

Love will soon be in the air! Our annual Valentine’s Day event is back. From Friday, February 14, 2020, at 8:00 a.m. to Monday, February 17, 2020 at 10:00 p.m. local time, pink Pokémon will be appearing more often in the wild, in raids, in Eggs, and as Field Research encounters.

Audino, the Hearing Pokémon, and Alomomola, the Caring Pokémon, will be making their Pokémon GO debut! They’re rare though, so you might encounter them only if you’re very lucky! During this event, regular Lure Modules will last six hours and you’ll receive a 2× Catch Candy bonus. If you’re lucky, you might hatch a Shiny Happiny or encounter a Shiny Chansey in the wild!

To continue the pink Pokémon festivities in celebration of Valentine’s Day, there will be a Raid Day on Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time featuring Lickitung! Lickitung will be in four-star raids and know Body Slam! You can receive up to five additional Raid Passes at no cost during the event by spinning Photo Discs at Gyms. You cannot hold more than one of these Raid Passes at once, and they will not be available after the event ends. Lucky Trainers might encounter Shiny Lickitung!

New experiments: Pokémon Spotlight Hour and Mystery Bonus Hour

The Pokémon GO team is always looking for more ways to improve the gameplay experience. This month, we’re excited to test out two new types of events: Pokémon Spotlight Hour and Mystery Bonus Hour.

Pokémon Spotlight Hour will feature…a surprise Pokémon! All we’ll tell you is that it will appear more frequently in the wild on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.

Mystery Bonus Hour will feature—you guessed it—a mystery bonus! This unknown bonus will be live in the app on Thursday, February 6, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time.

And that’s not all! We’ll be doing even more new and surprising things this month, so be sure to follow us on social media, opt in to receive push notifications, and subscribe to our emails to stay updated. Let’s GO!

Phew, you get all that? Looks like there’s a lot to look forward to in the coming days! Let us know what you’re most excited about in the comments below! Personally, I’ll be VERY excited to catch Woobat!

Don’t forget, the discussion continues on our Discord server!

  1. You’re kidding me?!

    F**********************ck
I just used my research task on a stupid Lapras that I didn’t want or give a damn about only to hear I could’ve obtained a Woobat from the get go?!

  2. I wanted to do this because i could but i feel i’m ripping off Blacephalon

    Klownarown
    Ghost/Psychic
    Entertainer Pkm
This Pokemon completely spherical with bright flashy polka dot colors arranged in a way that resemble a face with a nose and lips. it has floating glove like hands and pointy shoes detached from its body which levitate freely, it has a large cone like hat shaped appendage that rests atop the round body but is also freely removed when it moves around underneath is pitch black with yellow swirly eyes that are the pokemon’s actual body. it can attach its limbs to the sphere and resemble a clown creature or disassemble its body and foolishly bounce its ball like body or spin it playfully with no ill effects
“Klownarown can freely remove body parts and juggle them about to entertain people and pokemon, little do they know they try their best to make others laugh so it can feed on the happy emotions from its performance”
“They read your mind to better their performances and make you laugh harder. There are some who find themselves unable to stop laughing even though they wish to stop”

  3. Huh I didn’t know Rotten Tomatoes could be wrong

It put Darkrai’s movie higher than Detective Pikachu (Note I think Darkrai’s movie is highly overrated)

  4. New trailer and episode titles for those who give a crap

Episode 1102: Ash VS Leon! The Path to Power: Ash & Go encountering a Drednaw which Dynamaxes in Wyndon Stadium, and when Ash goes to confront it, Pikachu gets enveloped in a red light.

Episode 1103: The First Visit to the Unova Region! Raid Battle at the Ruins!!: Ash & Go go to the Desert Resort in Unova to investigate the Ruins of the Giants

I’m actually excited for once because we’re actually getting a battle or two. And i’m very excited for a Drednaw anime debut and i’m always happy to see some Unova action especially the Desert Resort which is where i always try to catch my Dwebble ^_^ but i’m guessing Ass and Stop will encounter a Volcorona because y’know the ruins are tied to the thing

    1. I was just about to say that about BotW. But I think pokemon is a lot more accessible than zelda, especially in its latest incarnation. Telling someone, “oh you’re gonna need 100 ish hours to finish BotW and get the most out of it,” is a huge commitment

  5. My official fighter’s pass 2 after lots of thought:

    Amaterasu
    Ring Fit Adventurer
Harvest Moon Protag (any name would work with me, though I’d prefer it coming from Magical Melody or before)
    Hornet
    King Boo
    Chell

Amaterasu won’t have her painting mechanic in her moveset (similar to how Arsene doesn’t behave similarly to anything Persona actually featured), but it will be in her stage. The stage will look dark and withered but will have that magic restoration animation that will add new things every once in a while. She’ll fight similar to in game with her shield, and she’ll use a plant rope for an up b.

Ring Fit will be air based in her moveset. Stage is one of the high bridges over a vast land. Breakable areas. Maybe some crates that can fall from the sky and be broken.

  6. I’m trying to come up with topics and things to keep my brain from deteriorating…..further

New Horizons, Island fun with deadbeat animals you can’t do anything more than speak to and walk around with

Now everyone who’s played animal crossing knows how everyday could be a chore but we cannot help but keep going because our brains are easily hooked on gradual experiences.

I want to ask a little survey to gain a little insight on what everyone strives for

    Town/Island Name:
    Favorite Fruit:
Favorite Animal Species (up to three):
    House Themes:
    Fishing or Bug Catching:
    Favorite Season to play in:

  7. Holy crap. Shiny hunting through eggs is sooooooo boring, as soon as I get this Meowth I am not doing this ever again. I could’ve made 4 competitive teams in the time this has been taking.

  8. Well I’ve finished Astral chain. Great game. Last boss was pretty challenging. Hopefully we’ll get a sequel. Have read online that if this one does well they may do a trilogy for it. Really hoping it happens! That said we need the protagonists of the game in Smash! Could use the male and female ones both!

  9. Well I truly hate Byleth, every single freaking weeblord I fight is constantly using aerials and that range is criminal not to mention just the utter BS that makes up the meta and the constant spammers

I lost so much GSP i was sitting so comfortable with 6,395,888 and now I’m down to a pathetic 6,365,346 that’s over 20k which is like 15 losses, I was having an amazing week with an actual winning streak and now it feels like everything I worked for is gone

I wish GSP didn’t exist and that they don’t keep score then it wouldn’t sting as much
