A new trailer and official site update for Pokémon Sword & Shield has just been released, revealing a bunch of new details about the games.
Items & Features Trailer
First up is a new trailer that showcases new items and features in Sword & Shield, all of which can help trainers to perfect their Pokémon to their liking.
- New items called mints will change the effects of a Pokémon’s nature, altering its stats
- Pokémon can have their base points maximised by using supplements
- Egg Moves can now be passed between Pokémon of the same species
- As previously noted, Pokémon Boxes can now be accessed almost anywhere in the game (notably in the Wild Area)
- Exp Candies offer varying amounts of Exp for levelling up
Online Competition: Galar Beginnings
The first online competition for Sword & Shield has been announced: Galar Beginnings. The sign-up period runs from Friday, November 15, at 00:00 UTC, to Thursday, December 5, at 23:59 UTC, whilst the actual competition period will run from Friday, December 6, at 00:00 UTC, to Sunday, December 8, at 23:59 UTC
Players can take Single Battle format competition that allows them to Dynamax or Gigantamax their Pokémon.
Max Raid Details
It has been announced that certain Gigantamax Pokémon can receive increased chances to appear in Max Raid Battles. The first of these Pokémon are Gigantamax Butterfree, Drednaw and Corviknight.
From Friday, November 15, 2019, until early January 2020, Gigantamax Butterfree will have an increased chance to appear in Max Raid Battles. During the same period Gigantamax Drednaw will have an increased chance in Sword and Gigantamax Corviknight will have an increased chance is Shield.
It has been teased that these increased chances are likely to change over time.
