As promised, a brand new trailer showing off new features and story elements of Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon has been released!

New Information:

  • Team Rainbow Rocket has assembled under Giovanni to bring together the biggest baddies of the last 20 years.

In Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon, the greatest villainous organization in history appears! It’s Team Rainbow Rocket—made up of the bosses from past titles in the Pokémon series!

The boss of Team Rainbow Rocket is none other than Giovanni, who was also the boss of the villainous organization known as Team Rocket in Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, the first games in the Pokémon series.

But that’s not the worst of it—Giovanni has gathered into one group the bosses from the various past games in the Pokémon series! You and your allies will have to square off against what might be your greatest challenge yet!

What in the world could Giovanni and his allies be after, appearing in the Alola region so suddenly…?

  • New Battle Agency feature allows you to battle using rental teams!

When you don your sunglasses and become an “agent” at this facility, you can take part in Single Battles using rental Pokémon. You’ll have three such Pokémon to command as you try to defeat the three Pokémon in your opponent’s team. Try to win your way to being the best of all the agents! 

  • Totem Stickers seem to take the place of Zygarde Cells and can be found throughout Alola and ultimately redeemed for totem-like Pokémon!

With Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon,you’ll be able to collect stickers called Totem Stickers all around Alola. Totem Stickers glitter and shine in the field.

If you collect these Totem Stickers, you’ll be able to get a huge totem-like Pokémon for your team, based on how many stickers you’ve collected. It’ll surely shock your opponents to see you using these oversized totem-like Pokémon in battle!

The totem-like Pokémon that you can get as allies can differ based on whether you’re playing Pokémon Ultra Sun or Pokémon Ultra Moon. For example, you can get Lurantis as an ally in Pokémon Ultra Sun or Salazzle in Pokémon Ultra Moon. Search every corner of the Alola region and collect masses of Totem Stickers!

  • Catch lots of Legendary Pokémon depending on your game!
    • Pokémon Ultra Sun only: Ho-Oh, Raikou, Groudon, Latios, Dialga, Heatran, Reshiram, Tornadus, Xerneas.
    • Pokémon Ultra Moon only: Lugia, Entei, Kyogre, Latias, Palkia, Regigigas, Zekrom, Thundurus, Yveltal.

  6. So to pass the time I wanna talk about today’s episode
    At first I thought it was gonna be a boring episode but they’re really trying to push Lillie as the center of conflict as she’s struggling with her Mother’s business and unique brand of trying to connect but being distant, then some boring sleepover crap, but what really made this episode so much more significant is at the very last scene.

    As everyone was walking to school Nebby playfully teleports Lillie, and where she’s teleported to is the cave on Wela where Gladion hides in. After a brief confrontation Type: Null immediately leaps right in front of her and glares at her, as she stares at the synthetic Pokemon it triggers a PTSD styled flashback the night she was attack unlocking a greater dormant fear causing her to collapse as she was teleported back to the group, this traumatic experience caused her to flinch away from Snowie in fear

  9. In a REALLY surprising turn of events Lana has been eliminated! She had no signs of being next eliminated but now she is gone. I thought she was the best of the Akala totems too. I loved her little Lie thing she does. It’s pretty funny. Why did you guys vote her off?? Man seeing these make me realize the interesting opinions here.

Suicune (with Raikou and Entei present) , Rayquaza (with Groudon and Kyogre present), Kyurem (with Reshiram and Zekrom present), Landorus (with Tornadus and Thundurus present). The idea of this has me EXTREMELY EXCITED because all of this stuff in the trailer looks incredible and adding more new Pokemon with crazy cool designs will push me over the edge!

    • Think of it as a culmination of the series plus catching them all in USUM makes perfect sense with the alternate dimensions.
      PLUS the areas the legendaries are waiting in are actual proper designed areas!

    The game looks great. Like the coming together of the series it almost looks like the final pokemon game!

  69. This is a fantastic batch of news in my opinion. While not getting a full on reboot of the battle frontier, the Battle Agency is a small step in the direction I like, so that’s a plus. Also, so many legends like in ORAS!! The hunts will never stop in these games, especially those coveted generation 6 ones (some like myself didn’t get the event ones because it wasn’t earned just given). And the ability to face all of the past Team Leaders?? And being able to have totem pokemon? I can’t wait for these games! I just hope there’s plenty more to discover upon their release

    • Well we know there are more z-moves-Mimikyu-and they decided not to reveal that in this trailer that was announced in a week in advance. I think we expected more to be revealed this trailer because it was announced a week in advance. However we know have had another announcement of a “trailer” coming November 10th. Thus, I think they are still holding out.

          • really 20th anniversary of a game where team rocket was part of the MAIN game i think they would make it main game also considering the location looks to not be in a wormhole of any kind and most postgame stuff is in or around worm holes plus how often do the storys characters come with you in post game i think its only happened once

    • Do the kingdoms get bigger as you progress? The first two seem pretty small.
      I also tried to 100% each kingdom before progressing, but there are some moons I just can’t find. But I’m sure I looked everywhere. I know some are unlocked in the post game; those don’t appear on the moon list for me yet though. Do you know if some moons are unlocked only after you visit a certain kingdom?

      • Okay so first, definitely don’t bother shooting for 100% before beating the main story because it’s kind of impossible. I’d just go for the ones which you stumble across while exploring initially, but that’s just me. And second, the size of kingdoms doesnt really have a pattern, you can go from a huge one to a smaller one. But yes, there are much larger kingdoms beyond the first two. Those are basically tutorials.

  126. what if all these other teams were team rocket to begin with… i mean we saw how many members they had in R/B/G/Y and G/S what if after “disbanding” they all just started new teams in new regions withe new goals based on each regions beliefs and technology and when Giovanni resurfaced he called them all back to work for him. therefore abolishing the aether foundation lusamine refusing to work for him for whatever reason and RR being formed with no one to stop their destruction so they achieve their goals

    • Nice theory but I doubt it. Each evil team are basically separate and have no relation to each other.
      Maybe grunts from disbanded rocket moved to say Aqua or Magma or even Plasma for example. That could be possible!

  143. Legendaries have unique areas like UBs but have a generic background, Zygarde doesn’t have the background but does have a cave one. It’s probably now found in Resolution Cave.

They mention Alolan forms so where are they? I can’t believe TPC would wait this long to show us something that was generally well regarded. I wonder how many there are if they’re willing to hold off spoiling them until either the very last trailer or until the games come out in general. Either way they better be pretty amazing haha

  173. Seeing as we likely only have one more info drop before launch, I want to share my opinion on this prerelease so far. So, to sum it up with a gif

    It’s been terrible. Don’t get me wrong, these look like good games, but I was only excited for then until now because they were new Pokémon games. Only the URS trailer, story trailer, and newest trailer have actually wowed me purely off the games own merit. Don’t get me wrong, I always thought these games would be good. But they’re being poorly shown off. Whilst it’s gotten significantly better, it’s still extremely questionable.

    And there are stickers! Never cared for the Zygarde cells (still gotta finish getting them, because I need the hideous 100% form for completion reasons).

  181. So the only thing from the credible leaks that I’m having a hard time believing is the part in the USUM Wishlist where it says “new Pokes”. New UBs are one thing (which it also stated there would be new ones of) and new Alolan forms almost seem like a given to some degree, but new Pokemon in general seems like a stretch. I don’t think they’d introduce regular new Pokemon part way through a gen. Not at this point. I wish the leak was a bit more specific (as in brand new Pokemon or just new to Alola). That would make it easier to understand. I think USUM would be considered one of the best Pokemon games of all time if it not only had everything we’ve confirmed, but also had brand new Pokemon to boot.

Totem stickers are pretty cool I guess seems maybe a bit op but eh. And it is neat that the legends can mega evolve or primal revert if they have the ability to. This also confirms though that this is indeed a third unique timeline. I kind of assumed that it would be but nice to know.

          The theme was variety in climate as depending on early game options depends on it being hotter or colder

          It was more to have the mascot change slightly to hold more qualities of light. Hence Xenon as I think it is the brightest element in the table

          • I’m just spit-balling here, but I think the following is a neat idea. Keep in mind that I have no idea what your current plans are for the plot of the story.
            Your main legendary (b/c I assume the “evil demon one” is a lesser legendary) is the fusion of two opposite elements (fire and ice). It could be that throughout the region, everyone knows stories of this divine, majestic being. But when you finally encounter it, it is torn, and ugly — think Kyurem Black/White. It has not found a proper way to integrate fire and ice without one trying to “attack” the other (fire trying to melt ice, water trying to douse fire). You could interpret this as a good (ice)/evil (fire) conflict within the legendary itself (alternatively, fire could just be the more hot-headed, rash side and ice its opposite; they don’t necessarily need to be good or evil. To be honest, I think good vs evil is cliche). It essentially has a split personality, and thus cannot become one whole entity. Upon finally helping it achieve this, it turns into the divine creature in the stories.

  213. So I would like to think that Gamefreak had evened out the number of Totem Stickers that we wouldn’t need in order to get Totem Pokémon. It is shown that we can use Totem Salazzle even though it isn’t a Totem in a trail anymore, and I am including Alowak and Ribombee in my the list. That would leave us with 8 Totem Pokémon in each game (since Lurantis and Salazzle are exclusives). 100/9 doesn’t really divide equally. Thus, they would need to make more Totem Pokémon version exclusives, more trials to have a change in their Totem Pokémon, Gamefreak doesn’t care about equal distribution of stickers between Pokémon,or we have more trials (least likely).

    I am going to focus on the second possibility. Thus, assuming no more Totem exclusives, we would need to have 1 trial with a change in Totem Pokémon. We can exclude the Grass, Fire, Fairy, and Dragon trials. That leaves us with Normal, Water, Electric, and Ghost. I personally don’t think that Normal will change their Totem-just because that was already an exclusive in the early games. There are speculations that Togedamaru will be a Totem this time around so that will bring the number to 10 Totems per version. However, this is my opinion, I think that Gumshoos and Alocate will be exclusives as well-they have announced exclusives of Pokémon after revealing them so that is a possibility even though they haven’t revealed Gumshoos as an exclusive yet.

    Thus, I think that Acerola will also have a change-up in her Totem Pokémon. In the Mantine ride reveal trailer they showed Acerola panicking a lot during the trial. It is my conjecture that a stray Totem-there is precedent of stray in the case of Kommo-o-had trespassed in the trial and challenged you. Now who would that stray Totem be? If the other parts of the rumors that we have heard in relation to RR hold true, then I think it would be Alola Parasect (Bug/Ghost). What do all of you think? I mentioned a lot of stuff in this post so I would be happy if you had any comments on any part of the three paragraphs.

    USUM might not take place in the ORAS/XY dimension or World based on a very important character… Archie.

    As folks these two may be the same character, but remember that in ORAS Archie was Dark skinned, but in the upcoming USUM he returns to his original Caucasian color palette. Meaning either one if two things

    He was brought to Alola of USUM via Ultra Space and is now thus there are two Archie’s in the world, meaning we still do exist in the Gen.6 timeline and that the RR either has mastered dimensional travel or is another group of Fallers or theory 2, is that Giavonni gathered them from across the world in which USUM exists in meaning that USUM is probably from the original world before the Gen.6 world was conceived.

    This is just a theory I’m pointing out cause it really intrigued and confused me that his original skin rather than his newer skin is used. Making me theorize where we really are in USUM

  239. I now have figured out what my team will be in Ultra Sun.

    Seeing how these games seem to be like a “culmination” of a lot of things, such as for the final 3DS games, the villains, etc. I thought that, because these games are what they are, my team will essentially be a culmination of previous Pokémon I’ve used in other playthroughs (though my starter, Litten, will be the only new mon I have throughout the entire journey). But they’ll still be Pokémon I’ll catch throughout the game.

    So for example, I might have Sandstorm (my Flygon back in my most recent Emerald run) and Flux (my Jolteon I used back in X) join the team.

    Does this mean your looking for another BW style and maybe they link the 3ds and Switch so you can get older Gen. Pokemon instead of giving us them as natural post game Pokémon?

    Does it mean you want a total rehaul of everything, where they dump all 800 some and all previous games thoughts down the crapper and start from the very beginning with a brand new set of Pokémon and keep the old ones silent for a long time?

    Or what on Earth does this “Total Recall” actually mean?! Please explain to me!

    • Imo, “reboot” means a remake of Gen1 but with all the new things from Gen6&7 plus perhaps an overhauled story to bring it more in line with the later games, then remaking the other games that haven’t been remade yet before moving on to something brand new.

    • “Reboot” I think is just calling for a total formula change for the franchise. Keep the important basics that make pokemon pokemon and spice the hell up out of the rest of it. No one is asking for them to get rid of all pass pokemon and stuff like that. Basically just do for pokemon what breath of the wild did for zelda. Except we probably should not expect that level of effort put in in all honesty. It won’t happen on that scale.

Am I the only who feels like Black and White’s story would have been better if Ghetsis had been removed altogether or at least altered to just be a destructive force in N’s personal life rather than evil mastermind? The whole point of that game is “opposing ideals,” but then all of that is sort of undermined when we find of *gasp* Ghetsis is evil and has been manipulating N for his own plans. So in the end it ends up not being opposing ideals at all…but good vs evil. Aka there is one right side and one wrong side. That’s not black and white at all. Like I think it would be better if the game made us actually think about what we think is right and wrong and had us make choices that affect the outcome. It came really close and it’s still a great story though. Thoughts?

    • This is why B2W2’s story absolutely fails. Black and White entirely builds up this theme of different ideals (even down to the titles of the games) but it crashes down in the end. You can kind of forgive it though and BW is still fine but B2W2 entirely revolves around this

It’s his ideals that we’re supposed to be opposing, but after B/W we hear nothing from him until he swoops in and his legendary is forced to fuse.

    • I think the same, the duality concept is very abstract in Gen 5.
      But I think all the plot is around the concept of Yin and Yang, that complements each other: the idea of the Pokemon to be free vs capture and train them, at the end none of the ideas are bad or good, it only depends on the persons.

      Anyway the main legendaries don’t fit at all with all that. More than ideals and Yin/Yang they always seemed to me more representative of energy sources: fire, electricity and cold fusion.

      • I think energy source has some kind of concept in there. Reshiram’s tail is more like olympic flame torch representing past, while Zekrom’s tail is more like high tech turbine, representing future. This juxtaposition was in the game itself, you know Black City White City, Opelucid etc. Black vs. white, truth vs. ideals, past vs. future. You can think truth as being past while ideals represent future.

        Also fire-electricity being energy source while Kyurem representing absolute zero: those three was in one body at first. Kyurem being the shell. So they are fusing with the shell itself. And the results are freaky creatures. They do not look normal. They look like chimeras. That was the intention of their design. Because the perfect fusion could be three of them fusing together and forming the original dragon. We never had a chance to see this. Maybe in future we can.

      • To me, the two legendaries and what they look like are basically irrelevant. All that mattered was that they answered the summons for supporting N and the player’s ideals.

    • I think the plot was pretty well done for the ideas it was trying to convey. Even at the end of the game, N agrees that the him and the player must agree to disagree about the way they view the world, and their relationships with Pokemon. That is a separate parallel plot to Ghetsis. Ghetsis is the clear evil, yet the games show how there can be ambiguity, contradiction and opposition within good too. Agreed, that they couldn’t leave it at a morally grey area and had to introduce a morally evil side in order to give perspective, but that’s pokemon for you folks. The game already made headway in exploring morality as opposed to all the previous games, so I’ll give it that. and it DID make me think. I mean, I’ve been playing Pokemon since 3rd gen, and the scene with Ghetsis and team plasma in Accumala town completely threw me off my game when he started rallying for the liberation of Pokemon. It actually still haunts me till today, how the games mechanics necessitate the “capturing” of these creatures in these devices, almost like we’re brainwashing them into submission. It was the first game that even dealt with the issue. Even Sun/Moon, during Lillie’s rant against Lusamine, asserted how Pokemon aren’t “Things” but more like trainers’ “children”, thereby slightly modifying the way I look at Pokemon. yet B/W will always be the first, shocking, jolt to my sensibilities.
      BUT YES I AGREE, B/W would have been absolutely perfect for a choice-based narrative with multiple endings… But i guess that’s not Pokemon. I hope they do it eventually. Maybe two generations down we might get a B/W remake? seems far’fetched but perhaps.

      • I hope they do not make a “remake” to B/W but instead make something like BW3 when the time has come, to keep legacy going on. It would be hard to keep an interesting story going on from what was left but it would be epic if done right. I really liked the idea for choice based multiple-endings. It would be perfect for story-fueled game like BW. They kinda touched it, just a little little bit when the choices you made altered N’s speech at the end.

      • Hm, this is very nice input. The accumula town beginning (which was also great because it kicked the plot off immediately!) was pretty well done. Still a wonderful game, and I’m doubtful GF will ever produce a plot that good, but even the best games can be analyzed 🙂

    • I see what you mean. Personally I like his inclusion as his psychotic personality approach is an interesting twist towards the end and shows the brutal nature of evil group leaders which I feel reflects well with N in his character as well as his past.
      Although you could say BW2 may not have been the WOW that BW was in story/plot I feel it didn’t have to be. BW set the pace and BW2 continued from where it left off.

So I’m pretty sure the next games will either have gyms or their own regional iterations of them.

You will always be facing an evil team, have a rival, be trying to complete the Pokedex, catching Pokemon, exploring a region, beat the elite 4 and become champion, turn based rpg, etc. It will never be open world.           • Well, maybe people just need to open up their definition of open-world. For one, I really hope it’s non-linear, cause honestly Pokemon’s format is perfect for non-linear play and I’m apalled why they haven’t done it yet. (Except for that brief period in D/P where the order of Pastoria gym and Veilstone gym doesn’t matter). They also need to greatly increase the space between towns. Melemele Island for example, felt really cramped and not like an island at all. I think they can do wonders with just making for example, three gyms accessible at a time instead of one, and the plot events surrounding these cities also non-linear. I mean, consider BOTW, the stories around each divine beast were beautiful in their own individual right, and doing them in any order besides some prescribed order (basically what Impa tells you to do) does not take anything away from the experience. They also had a great method of exposing the “100 years ago story) through location-based memories. If Pokemon did that, i.e unlock story content by visiting specific areas, then I’d say they pretty much can attain an Open-world feel on a smaller scale of world. With the Switch’s power, they can eliminate the need for separate areas and loading screens and make most visible areas explorable.

  257. I decided to stop with 777 Moons today in Odyssey (just for the lucky 7’s). For anyone who is looking to play the game, which should be everyone on Earth, know that it can take some energy and dedication to push much further than this. Still, somehow, I turned on the game and ended up getting 75 more Moons while I previously felt stuck. It’s awesome. Hmm, something Pokémon-related to make this post at all valid…the New 2DS XL Pokeball Edition launches tomorrow, yay!!!

          • Social language barriers are a tough one. You may not be able to communicate with them immediately make sure that you act in a way that shows that you may be invested in the subject. Body and facial language is important in this case. Eventually-assuming it is a group of nice kids-they might notice this and ask what you think of the topic, or you might have to take the initiative, ask a question about a small aspect, and convey that you are new to this topic and that you may be interested in learning more about it. What is most important is to act by what you feel is natural and if possible gauge the person of interest’s investments in this topic-without be obvious. If you can’t do the last part without being obvious then don’t make an attempt to and if the group is not nice then do not begin the mission.

  329. At this point I’ve given up on trying to make a cohesive Pokémon lore in my mind. Rainbow rocket probably screws with any notion of a single world and timeline.
    I thought ORAS’s multiple worlds would have killed it but no, it’s gonna be super hard to make a canon timeline.
    Tho I’m still pumped for USUM.

    (And I can always use the Pokémon Special manga as the canon lore, if all else fails)

          • Because they don’t really need to because we have a rough time line and the same rough events always happen? It’s not like the Zelda timelines where Majora doesn’t happen in two of them, an iteration of each region’s event will always happen.

        Fam this is one of the simplest depictions of alternate timelines I’ve seen. We know that there’s major decisions that can serve as a base for a whole host of timelines (whether AZ fires the weapon or not) and besides its just that the same events occur many times with different details.

            And, to be honest, calling GF idiots for something you don’t like is just ignorant. It’s overall a non factor in the game because the only time it’s shoved in our face is post game episodes that are just there to be hype asf.

          • Except that the pokemon world still makes no sense with or without the timelines so it doesn’t even matter if multiple timelines make it “more realistic” because it never was and never will be. We literally don’t even know the relative distances between regions other than Kanto and Johto. Theoretically there are an infinite number of regions within the pokemon world considering the franchise will probably never end (hopefully) so the planet must be enormous. There’s no telling how much of what goes on in one region must affect the others because we’re so in the dark about the world. That’s just how I see it.

            Basically after gen 2, Gamefreak should’ve thought long and hard about how they were going to continue the continuity within the franchise since Hoenn was the first distant region, but I’m not sure they did. At least by Gen 4 they could’ve had things more nailed down, but I guess not. All well. I find the timeline thing unnecessary because

  360. Woooooooooow my boss is such an ass. I asked off in July for the 17th and 18th off and it got denied due to some dumb thing where they blackout dates for holidays so no one takes off (which is stupid af to begin with) So I decided that I’d just call off on the 17th and hope I was off on the 18th too. Both this week and next week I’m off on both Saturdays so I was thinking that maybe my old scheduling was getting put back into place where I only worked weekdays and never weekends. And what do I see scheduled for the 17th and 18th? Me working both days and Saturday being a long one……I’d be more than willing to guess that he put me on full availability those days (1-5 Fri/9-5 Sat) just because I asked off for them. I’m so pissed right now. He could have at the very least only scheduled me for Friday and given me off on Saturday. This always happens. As soon as anyone in my store makes it known that they want specific days off and don’t get them they’ll 100% end up being scheduled for those days anyway……Either way I’m calling off on the 17th . There’s no FREAKING way I’m working the release date of USUM. We’ll have to see about that Saturday, but I may just have to grin and bear it…….I can’t properly express how pissed I am right now. Especially after those dates getting denied 4 months in advance

If I hadn’t asked or something it wouldn’t be as much of a “F you” and I wouldn’t feel as mad. I suppose I’ll just have to figure something out.     One reason I was wanting Stadium to return is because PBR Stadium and XD (etc.) 3d models were just better. They seemed more interactive especially PBR! I loved how when Pokemon used a physical attack they went to the other side of the field to do the attack because it’s physical!

    • What you are asking for (except at the end with colors) isn’t actually graphics. But yeah considering the extra power I can see them doing a bit more or at least would hope they would if not it proves their laziness. As to colors eh I don’t really notice an issue personally but considering they will likely be making new higher res textures (again unless they are lazy) they might change the colors but I dunno if they will, and again to me I dunno if I would even care about that either way. Something I would also like to point out though is that PBR/Colosseum/XD/Stadium/etc. isn’t made by GameFreak so… I mean… eh? And we will also as the next mainline game is coming to console never get a game like those ever again, though I do find it weird we didn’t get anything for B/W. Especially not for X/Y and even more S/M but eh, maybe it is because at least with X/Y the mainline games were technically finally in 3D (more so in SM than XY but yeah). As for B/W maybe they didn’t want a second one on the same console just for the couple extra Pokemon despite doing so in the past. PBR was kind of lazy though so that could explain it.

    • The animations in battle Revolution and the artstyle in general was so nice, but i think they said in an interview about the artstyle Being like it is in XY about making it more accessible
      And i hate how in 3ds, most pokemon have like 2-3 move animations they use for every move, but making it lije battle Revolution would mean the battles would take way to long. So the anime. But i agree,the 3ds animations are just like the DS ones but models instead of sprites.

    • Yeah I think the trailer on next Friday will be sort of like how they did trailers back in SM pre release. It’ll be one where they show off a handful of new forms and then finish off with Light Necrozma either in full or as a tease. I gotta say tho they’re really coming down to the wire with the Alolan forms. We have enough credible leaks and sources saying they’re coming at this point it’d be surprising if they weren’t. It’s just odd they’d keep them a secret for this long

          • Eh. There is no room for them in the Pokedex sure Adhesive doesn’t fit either but it seems to be an artificial one made by URS I don’t see why they would make more so I just don’t see any more UBs.

          • I really don’t see Adhesive being artificial considering it looks more organic than some of the other UBs. Adhesive is most likely not with the other UBs because it’s encountered in battle much earlier than other UBs (as early as Paniola Ranch) and is probably weaker than them as well.

    • Mimikyu’s zmove and I would assume something else because it seems pointless to do a trailer just for that. I don’t see it being Alolan forms because it is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar too late to be announcing those, but I wouldn’t be upset if it were.

  396. Just watched the new Thor movie last night. Here are my “3” cents! (criticism of the movie)

    Definitely the best of the three Thor movies. I oddly enjoyed this superhero more for the humorous parts rather than the action scenes. The character arc of Thor was well developed and finely concluded in this movie displaying both his growth and acceptance of the necessary humility and pride needed for a king-especially in relation to his brother. However, I feel that the development of some of the supporting cast was sacrificed in order to do this: Loki and Bruce Banner. The latter of the two is understandable if you consider what is happening behind the scenes, it has been around 10 years since Mark Ruffalo came as The Hulk, and he may want to do new things. Thus, the main character progression and humor in the film were of an excellent level amongst its peers in the MCU, however the treatment of other main characters and action scenes that were not as exciting as I had expected brought my appraisal of the movie down by a little bit. And before I forget, I liked how they ended the movie and the final fight-even though it becomes apparent before the fact was stated-and the take home message that the movie was trying to deliver.

    Rating: 8.5/10 Daes.

    • You have to look at the character arcs over all the movies they have appeared in. If you do that you’ll see Loki actually has a large arc that culminates in what we see of him in this movie, it essentially carries on from what we see of him in Dark World. Bruce is really a set-up arc for the future where he’ll have trouble not being the Hulk and they may do the separation. My problem with Hulk in this is that in the final battle he is kind of out of the way of the action as he fights Fenris on the waterfall, where he’s mostly just wrestling it, so he doesn’t feel as much part of the action or final fight. Korg is the best character.

    • Ok no for real this is like combining gyms and trials. THIS is what all the challenges should be like. You can have basically the best of both worlds and it’s not just about level grinding. You’d beat the gym trainers and then have to solve a mini puzzle like dungeon to get to the badge. I’d be so down for that. Obviously some gyms (and puzzles) would vary in difficulty, but ultimately I think it’d be more fun and engaging

    • It should be more similar to Quilladin in size imo. I’d also change the leaves to look a bit simpler like Grotle, and maybe have some ‘feature’ leaves of a different types in various places. I also think the leaf eyebrows look a bit off, I’d remove them. Finally you could make the stomach patch a bit leaf-like in shape.

(Don’t ask me why I’m doing this now when USUM is out in less than 2 weeks XD) and I JUST discovered Lush Jungle has a cave!!! How have I never come back to this place once I got ride Machamp and looked around?? And on top of that it has a northern exit that leads to an interesting view of route 8 and the Tm for Energy Ball! It’s so weird I’ve never known this! hahaha

  445. So I want to give some thoughts on the potential “Light Form” Necrozma everyone is convinced will happen

    I’m trying to figure out if Necrozma’s body actually houses a sentient light cluster or its hardened crystalline body is its true body, I say this because we do not know if it is truly a crystal or not I base this on its entry stating it was buried deep underground since ancient times, so this could be either it crash landed on the planet as a light creature and was buried for X amount of time and over time it’s body petrified and oxidized

Also, if we draw parallels with kyurem, original kyurem is actually a manifestation of the “zero” aspect of what’s left of it once yin and yang are taken out of it, forming zekrom and reshiram. Conversely, i feel necrozma has a “good” core inside out surrounded by the malicious outer body which steals solgaleo and lunalas power, i.e something that’s left over.

  448. Second to last update about Odyssey: I’ll definitely be done tonight, although it may take some effort. I’ve been using the Hint Toad a bit more than I’d like to admit, but still only for the last several in each kingdom. Some of these are RIDICULOUS, in terms of how you get them, and I wouldn’t have been able to guess in a million years. So I guess a thank you is in order Nintendo, for letting me finish your game! I’ll answer questions when I return if anyone doesn’t have the game yet and is on the fence for some reason, because it really has been something else.

People from Serenes Forest and Reddit have come together to run a bunch of FE games by a bunch I mean all the ones released in North America as well as Japanese released only Binding Blade. They are running these games for Extra Life, a charity to help children. Right now, they are running Shadows of Valentia, which I know many are familiar with considering it is the newest Fire Emblem main game.           Jangmo-o, Oranguru, Passimian, Rockruff, Comfey, Stuffel, Orocorio, Bruxish, Marenie, Drampa, Turtonator, Wimpod, Pyukumuku, Minior, Komala, Dewpider, Mimikyu and Dhelmise and their evolutions all come at a 10% or less encounter rate and most appear in a few to one spots throughout the whole game

          That’s 25 counting all evolutions of each meanings you have a 1/10 chance or less to catch a fourth of Alola’s natives. And subtracting the 29 that are legendary or exclusive to catching one (Starters and Type: Null)

          Meaning only 26 Alola Pokémon and their evolutions are common or in percent, only 32% of Alola can be found easy

Ever since then I’ve always thought it was an hour ahead and then you’d swap in the pm or am depending on what time of day it is……..How did I trick myself for so long?     Only 32% of Alola’s Pokémon have above a 10% Spawn rate. Why?!?! Like I get Yungoos are invasive pests so are Rattata, but does Pikipek exists everywhere taking up more space that could be reserved for actually want new Pokémon

    • Actually the trailer is set to premiere on 5:00 UTC November 10th. For EST that would be 0:00 November 10th. Thus it will premiere for us on the midnight at the end of Thursday.

  460. Just want to put this out there, but anyone else kind of wondering how many new Z-moves we are getting in USUM. They revealed two for the cover legendaries, Lycanroc, and Kommo-o. It has also been leaked and somewhat revealed that Mimikyu has one as well. Togedamaru is up in the air: a new Z-move or a Totem Pokémon. I am leaning towards it being the Totem Pokémon. How many new Z-moves does everyone think will come in USUM? I feel if there are more there wouldn’t be many since they are already spreading themselves thin with the inclusion of new UB, new forms of Alola Pokémon, and if the remainder of the rumor is true, new Alola forms of old Pokémon.

            i see the very last confrontation at the top of Megacity with me and Kommo-o facing against Dusk Mane Necrozma and it winning very easily against Kommo-o and it tries to siphon Kommo-o’s light energy and it unleases its full power with Clangorous Soulblaze

          • 1) I’d doubt it’ll be pre champion tbh, it’s totally busted

            2) Why would Kommo-o have light energy?

          • the light energy is a bit obscure but not unheard of
            ?There is a legend that says Kommo-o is covered in glittering scales in order to drive away a great darkness covering the world. The reason these Pokémon seek out battle is to gain the power needed to defeat this darkness.”

          • The glittering won’t be Kommo-o emitting light, it’ll be Kommo-o reflecting light. Whilst Kommo-o can manipulate light (Flash Cannon) it’s unlikely imo that it actually emits light.

    • We know how many new Z-Crystals we have and with all the ones that we know, there’s only one we haven’t seen anywhere. Togedemaru’s animation is more likely a Totem battle, it’s possible that it’s Necrozma’s but I think Necrozma may have a Z-move without a stone (kinda like Rayquaza with mega evolving).

  462. Just saw the movie, damn Incineroar looks amazing animated, and Marshadow was completely pointless? Remove it from the movie, have Ho-oh or the beasts replace it in the finale, and the film would’ve been way better. It was still good though, Marshadow was just a total waste.

    • Cool. I am about to head out with my friend in half-an-hour. He was cool with coming even though he hasn’t watched it since the 4th generation. Do you think he would find it enjoyable despite that? Also do you know what the the Ash Cap Pikachu that is given in the movie is like? Movesets or anything else special?

      • The Ash Cap Pikachu isn’t compatible with Sun and Moon, it’s an USUM exclusive and I don’t know of it details have been announced for it yet :s

        But if it has the moves Ash’s Pikachu used in the film, it’ll have Thunderbolt/Quick Attack/Iron Tail and then either Thunder, Volt Tackle or Electro Ball because those are the only other notable moves Pikachu’s had but none have shown up in the movie.

        Eh it’s a good film,some parents seemed to enjoy it

    • Incineroar runs on all fours, primarily strikes with punches, grabs, and kicks, and like in the game all its fire is from its belt. Apparently it gets stronger as it takes damage, but that might’ve just been a hint at Blaze or an anime only thing.

      It’s really entertaining to watch and it does have a decent amount of screen time.

          • No? There’s no Z-Moves in the film period. And Charizard vs Incineroar is way closer than I thought it’d be, as Charizard is breathing heavily and quite bruised by the end of it. They’re pretty much portrayed as equals, yet their trainers methods are what make the difference. It’s used to illustrate Ash’s friendship orientated trainer style vs Cross’s strength only one.

  464. Done with all of Super Mario Odyssey as of this morning! I’m just going to grind up to 9,999 coins before putting the game down for a good long while. But believe me, I will be back one day…especially if Nintendo makes DLC or announces Odyssey 2, which I heard isn’t out of the question. Now it’s time to get hyped for the next big thing: USUM of course!

    Description: A slimmer, shorter of version of its evolution, but its head is more of a traditional balloon shape than an orb, it has no frills, and doesn’t have the extra orbs the evo has on its body. It also has less dots on its head. It can’t remove and explode its head, but it can produce sparks from it.

    Dex: Sparkull roams aimlessly, illuminating its head to draw lost prey towards it. As it feasts on souls, it isn’t above frying a foe in order to release their soul. It’s even goofier than its evolution, but is arguably more threatening as it has not developed testing yet.

    2) Name Speculation!

    Personally, I’m guessing Lullahan (Lull/Lulz + Dullahan) to reflect its clowning around and headlessness, but I doubt it. I think its actual name would reflect fireworks a lot more.

    3) Move and Stats Speculation!

    Shadow Ball and Flamethrower or it’s useless. Psychic is a staple of Ghost types TM wise, as is Dark Pulse. I’d love to see it get Giga Drain through tutors because it fits its lore and can combo with Mind Blown. Thunderbolt, Dazzling Gleam, Focus Blast, and even Energy Ball would be amazing and I could see them all happening but not as likely. It’ll never use it in a comp sense but it’s likely getting Explosion, maybe Final Gambit. Nasty Plot would be sick asf

    I’m guessing it’s a special sweeper, faster than Xurkitree but considerably less bulky.

  479. Pokemon I choose you review & Gen 8 predictions!

    – Movie and post credits combined IMO make it the best Pokemon movie of all time!
    – Past movies such as power of one, mewtwo returns and Luke’ mystery of mew all were better in many ways but this as a combined package was amazing
    – Essentially the USUM of the movies. It was like an alternate universe with many alterations but with many references to original saga!

    – The graphical animation was AMAZING! Best so far! The story was good maybe not as great as say Lucario and myst’ of mew but it didn’t need to be this is a diff kinda film

    – The post film credits were absolutely out of this world, it basicallly was 10 minutes of nostalgia service of the entire series.  

    – It was screaming the end of an era, the film just like USUM is doing threw everything in the anime together and it was amazing. The nostalgia I got from there was unbelievable! Past characters, regions, films and anime sagas from Kanto to Kalos all had involvement 

    – GET READY for a MASSIVE REBOOT of the whole series games and anime. Not like BW even more, the post credits as well as USUM are screaming reboot.

    – It also hinted at Team rockets return in USUM in a very subtle way 

    – Post film scenes where just amazing maybe even better than the entire film thats how good they were!

    – Overall one of the best especially in nostalgia! Loved it
