Pokémon Gold & Silver Coming to the Virtual Console

Like Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, the first Generation II games will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS’ Virtual Console! Pokémon Gold and Silver will be available to (re-)purchase on September 22nd! They will feature wireless trading and battling as well as Pokémon Bank support so that you can transfer Pokémon to the latest games!

  2. I would Like to see more Side quests. And not like the stupid ‘side’quest of Lati@s in ORAS. That was super forced. I mean if you go in this area you activate this in game event. In game events are the best thing to experience if you have no idea what’s going on

    • Sidequests are a great way to make cool postgame content too, if they’re creative and engaging. Though just finding ultra beasts in the tall grass was pretty weak, the story part of that quest, and the more cryptic bits like the necrozma hints, were just great IMO. Why not give all the Battle Tree guest stars actual sidequests rather than just cameos? Who wouldn’t want that???

  3. What things do you guys think are going to be expanded on, regardless its a sequel, updated version, etc

    I think we’ll probably get

    -More UB info
    -More info on the Aether family
    -Explanation for those empty plots (battle facilities? Gyms?)
    -Necrozma info (duh)

    And maybe

    -Zygarde info
    -Guzma/Plumeria info
    -Guzma/Lusamine info
    -Post-game Lillie info

      I just thought of it… What if those spots are like the Battle Tents in Emerald. They each hold a beginning version of a battle facility and Post game it has Battle Frontier!
      There are 7 empty spots!! 7 frontier leaders!!

      • Tbh even if those plots are empty throughout the main game but become facilities post game it’d be dope

        It’d be a bit annoying if the facilties are so spread out but at the same time they could each have interesting designs that match the area they’re in

  6. So what Johto pokemon weren’t in Sun and Moon and would be likely contenders for alolan forms (though in an alternate timeline, they could have pokemon receive alolan forms who were normal in SM)?

  7. Away to bed soon folks, so first I want to make predictions :p

    Ultra-Solgaleo will be Psychic/Fire with Prism Armor

    Ultra-Lunala will be Psychic/Ice with Prism Armor

    In a way, they’re almost opposites to the Kyurem forms. If I were to guess:

    Rather than being forms of the third legend caused by the main pair, it’s forms of the main pairs caused by the third legend.

    They aren’t true fusions – Kyurem forms are literal fusions of the two Pokémon, combining features. This looks more like power-up armor than anything.

    Finally, the new forms inherit the third legend’s ability rather than the main two’s abilities

  10. So the kind of game that USUM are aside……….I have one question about Necroleo and Necrunala……..WHY? I think their designs are cool enough, but I can’t figure out one reason they’d have any connection that would allow them to fuse/ wear Necrozma as armor……When Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyrem fuse it makes sense. There’s lore that tells you why it happens and there’s a device that allows it to happen. In this case I just don’t know……….If Necrozma had just gotten a new form that would have been one thing, but what in the world is a good enough reason to slap Necrozma on top of Solgaleo/Lunala? Not hating on the idea, Just very very confused………

    • Necrozma is maybe a parasite that needs to fuse to gain power? Maybe combined they are UB killers?
      Point is, regardless of what it ends up being, there will be lore/explanation for it in the game. We didn’t know why the 5th gen legends would fuse/their history until we played the games (at least I didn’t) so until we know, I wouldn’t dismiss them

      • But but but…..We did know….Unless I’m wrong we knew from BW that they were all one dragon at one point……..I think at least……This just doesn’t have any prior lore to give us a reason to believe this makes sense hahaha

        • We didn’t know Kyrem was a part of that one dragon until the sequels, unless I am wrong too.
          I still think, even if SM didn’t offer lore about it, lore will be in USUM to explain it.

Plus, you do bring up a fine point that I do wish a hint of this was mentioned in SM and I wonder what the lore about this will be.

    • I think what people are mostly disappointed about is that getting a new game should mean a new story. Not a minorly changed version of a game they just played. We should have to buy SM again basically to get the features that are in USUM. If it was a brand new story brand new features would be fine, but having to buy the same game twice for some minor changes seems dirty……..At least to me anyway hahaha

          • Lol they said its an alternate story, that by itself already makes it new and different. We dont know anything about it yet and people are already making assumptions smh

          • True, but technically you could say Platinum was an alternate story. Just because the bad guy goes after a slightly different mon at the end doesn’t mean it’s a different story altogether…….Oh well I suppose we’ll just have to wait……

          • And Platinum is still one of the best games in the series to this day. At this point, the only thing we know about USUM is that the mascots have new forms and we’ll have new hairstyles for the PC lol. More info is sure to be revealed soon, possibly on E3

          • DP kind of ruined Sinnoh for me so I can’t speak to how good Platinum is, but you’re right we’ll just have to wait and see what happens lol

  14. I hope, as stated many times before, that Necrozma is a kind of parasite controlling Nebby. I’m actually pretty excited for these games, except for the ugly new designs.

          • As someone who is also pursuing psych in college and wants to be a social worker/school psychologist, a huge part of dealing with depression is challenging the thoughts that you think and finding ways to distract those thoughts or make them not the sole focus of your mind. While they might have done it in a different way I would have, what they are saying matters and is actually what I would emphasize when dealing with a similar patient.

          • I plan on becoming a psychologist… but to be honest I’ve only had a single year doing so in school

          • Awesome 🙂 I’m about to finish getting my bachelor’s soon (one semester left) and while I would need to go to grad school for school psych, I wanted to get some experience first with just social work to really see if that’s the path I can see myself going down.

          • Hey you are pursuing the career so you obviously know more than me, but as I what taught in psych class their (the fellow junglers) method isnt always as handy. Ive been told telling one who is depressed to just “appreciate life” or that their problems is that big of a deal in the larger spectrum just doesnt work. Yes it may be the truth, but how would one feel if problems that caused a lot of stress was just belittled by other people because they arent “real” problems. But if you think I should stop butting in and telling them to stop, I will. I just dont want to bring all the drama here, and then everyone is just left feeling worse than before. I appreciate your input though.

          • No, I totally understand, and like I said, I don’t agree with how they worded their sentiment and the comparing of problems isn’t always the best route. But yuo do have to remind the person that you have to reach for help in order to receive it and it will be hard to block those thoughts out, but you must work at it. And I understand about the drama part, believe me, drama is something I avoid, but they aren’t doing total bad either.
            They are concerned and I think that’s a good thing.

  19. Last year they referred to “Radiant Sun” Solgaleo and “Full Moon” Lunala and I swore they meant something despite the fact that they were literally just the forms they took to use their signature moves….

    Now isn’t it a little weird that these new forms have them PERMANENTLY IN those forms?

    • I think it’s been hypothesised that this is Necrozma recreating them with its Light Power having absorbed the Sun/Moon radiation. That or it’s their most powerful state and Necrozma is allowing them to stay in it.
