  1. Friendly reminder that Misdreavus, Murkrow, Stunky and Glameow were all absent in Platinum so I guess it’s a cash grab guys now

  2. Building off my last comment, I hope the walking animations for each Pokemon are put to use in USUM. That would redeem every negative observation I’ve seen so far.

    • Sad thing is the minute we see walking Pokémon or any other popular feature literally at least half the people complaining will suddenly be praising the game to hell and back

      Reply
        • I’m not saying opinions don’t change (I used to hate Incineroar) it’s just the hypocrisy of people saying all this stuff until we see more of the game

If it comes out and it’s a total copy cash grab yeah be mad you’re entitled to it

But we really know Jack shit about it rn

  3. So from what i can tell the main reasons why people are hating on these games are :

    a) not for switch
Which is sorta stupid considering it’s the first year of tge switch and Nintendo did release the new 3ds

    b) not sinnoh/sequels
    Which I agree with.

    c) unclear as to what they are.
If they are third versions then maybe highlight the new features first. Make it clear what alternate story is. I’m confused if we are gonna get new Pokemon or not.

    Reply
    • I think they made it perfectly clear though. Necrozma is playing a role, new totems and Z moves were hinted at, they outright said it’s an alternate take on the story of Sun and Moon. It’s an enhanced version.

    • This was a terrible reveal “trailer”

I wanna know what they were thinking.

“Ok ok so like..we will show Pokken for 5 minutes… then 20 seconds of a game that isnt stars or DPPt. AND WE’LL EXPLAIN NOTHING HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH WE GON BE MILLIONAIRS

      Reply
          • Lol no reason. The reason has been explained to you numerous times and you refuse to accept it. Why does 2 games bother you so much? Both games are going to have the same enhanced story. The Pokemon featured are going to be different lol.

          • Absolutely nothing you said made sense. Nothing.

No reason for it. Yet you just stated the reason in your very next sentence. People buy both versions, exactly! 2 versions has been proven to sell more, because there are those people that go and buy both.

“It’s an enhanced port except nothing is enhanced.”
            – Did you watch the same trailer I did? Necrozma is playing a role in the story, Lycanroc is hinted at being a totem, new potential Z moves. This is literally what Emerald and Platinum did.

“It’s on the 3DS so the tech is the exact same.”
            – So Emerald and Platinum weren’t enhanced versions? By this logic, they aren’t.

          • Emerald and Platinum arent even relevant why do you keep bringing it up? We are post B2W2 at this point. Third versions that arent a Z version are a hard sell so the fact that we get nothing (Necrozma and totems woooooooaaahh gotta drop 40 bucks on this) is pathetic.

Making two versions for an enhanced port a year after release is anti-consumer. Simple as that.

          • Emerald and Platinum are relevant because they are the same concept as these games LOLOLOL.

          • No theyre not. Pokemon can do sequels now and the gaming land landscape has changed. Doing third versions split into two games is anti consumer. If you want two games, make them sequels.

          • They are the same concept. What you just said is what you want them to be. They are all enhanced versions.

          • That is LITERALLY what Pokemon has done for over 20 years LMFAO. I’m not being forced to buy both! xD

          • tbh, the two versions of each game (Red blue, etc. etc.) have always been the same game except slight changes because of legendary and exclusive Pokemon and what not.
So to get mad at this is a bit of a stretch considering Pokemon’s history

          • im sorry for butting in but isn’t that literally what Pokemon has been doing since the very beginning? two versions tend to sell more, and give an actual incentive to trade…

          • who said i’m buying it four times. most people just buy one version, and we barely know if its gonna be an enhanced port or more than that. your logic actually baffles me lol

        • Seriously. It amazes me that the ORAS trailer is being used as a positive example for revealing a game. I would take some box art with intriguing legendaries where we actually understand exactly what it is.

          Reply
      • I agree.
I was so excited then i got disappointed when i saw pokken, then hyped again, then just confused as too what it was.

        Reply
    • I thought it was pretty clear that it looks to me more like a sequel because of the route scene where it looks similar yet different like time passed but *shrugs*
Regardless if it is or isn’t, we don’t know yet so there’s not use arguing about all of this until we truly know.

      • Like, either build it properly now or remove it completely and put something good in its place. Just have us find a completed cube for the latter option.

        • Tbh I just want them to give Zygarde Complete better stats

Just give it 720 so it’s as strong as Arceus and put its new 12ish points into Sp.Attack or Speed

          Reply
          • I want it to have a reason for being other than some scientists from Kalos are on holiday.

          • I think they were trying to imply it’d there because Ultra Beasts and what Aether is doing? But it’s poorly implied if it’s being implied at all

          • It’s barely there and frankly there is no consequence to not collecting it so it has no impact on the rest of the game whatsoever.

      • Some proper story elements would be nice. Heck link it to the Ultra Beasts somehow if you can just do something better with it GameFreak.

        Reply
          • Yes, it would be better than, ‘hey look, here’s a thing for you to collect every now and then for no particular reason’.

  4. I saw a post speculating that Necrozma is using Solgaleo/Lunala as a light source to amplify it’s power since it’s a prism. That would be an interesting concept. A parasitic legendary.

    Reply
    • Tbh that sounds really cool and makes sense 😮

I’m thinking it’ll probably more of a true symbiote though, seeing as it probably also powers them up

      I’m excited either way!

      Reply
      • I can just imagine being powered up for too long could harm the host. There’s no proof of that, but it would be an interesting plot point if they’re being forced into their radiant sun/full moon phases.

        Reply
        • What if Necrozma forces them into their phases to get back to Ultra Space? In game they only go into their phases when they’re using their signature attacks, opening a portal, and stabilising ultra Space for non-natives (at least I think that’s what the legend was doing when it couldn’t move in Ultra Space, because you and Lillie don’t start to blink in and out of existence until after it has to move)

          Reply
  5. Ok going out on a limb
You can put chunks of Necrozma (Ultra Shards) into your Z-Ring and specific Pokemon can be infused with Necrozma energy causing them to be enveloped with Ultra Armor
    Solgaleo and Lunala
    Lycanroc
    Togedemaru
    Mimikyu

    Reply
        • As cool as that would be, it would be hard to implement yet another feature in the next gen. They already dropped megas like a bad habit, I can’t see them somehow balancing megas, z moves, ultra shards, etc. all in the next gen. They already cant do it in this gen.

          Reply
          • Actually tbh I think Megas were handled quite well in the post game of SuMo, with a lot of trainers incorporating it into the battle tree

          • Yeah but saving it for post game (while allowing space for z moves) made it feel like an afterthought, plus no new ones just feels like the whole inclusion was obligatory.

          • I think there should just be one mega stone that any Pokemon capable of mega evolution can utilize. You can only use one in battle anyway, and it would free up tons of bag space, so it’s quite practical.

        • Could be an interesting way of making Totems harder

But keep in mind the pieces of Necrozma on Solgaleo and Lunala appear to be the same size as when they’re together as Necrozma

          Reply
    • Doubt it tbh because Mimikyu us seen extending its arms and attacking, implying that cutscene is a totem opening cutscene or a Z-Move

      Reply
        • Never said it couldn’t be a totem

Said it wasn’t guaranteed a totem and that i personally don’t think it is one, but I still find it more likely than the Necrozma Armour due to how big Necrozma is compared to Mimikyu

      • That’s where I got the idea from stupid

  6. So I find it interesting that GF was still able to baffle us with yet another change to the formula. For so long it was two games + a third years later.

Then Gen V gave us sequels, something unprecedented in pokemon.

People thought gen VI would be getting Z or X2Y2, we got neither–further changing the formula.

Gen VII showed up instead and now instead of sequels or a third game, we have an alternate story. I’m not sure what else they could do in the future besides going back to a third game to surprise fans again.

BUT ANYWAYS, KEEP THE HYPE GOING! This should be just like last night– speculative, hyped, and energetic. We still know sooooo little. We know more than last night, but the door is wide open for speculation.

  7. Tbh I see this as being a happy medium between Platinum and BW2 but on a game I adored
Honestly this might end up becoming a favorite of mine

  8. So I don’t know what to think honestly. I love the idea but a little scared that the games are gonna be too similar to Sun and Moon. But I also have a lot of confidence that GF wouldn’t just copy and paste the games.

Anyways, REALLY hoping for an expanded post game. Sun and Moon got boring real quick, haven’t played the games in forever because of the lack of things to do after the main story. Give me some umph to the story and give me second region, battle frontier or gyms to battle in the post game and I’ll be happy.

    Reply
  9. What if Ultra Sun and Moon were Ultra Hard? Imagine 8 gyms and 8 totems and then 8 Necrozma fused Totems (Earthen’s idea). It would be challenging and It could be very creative!

  10. So if we are getting new pokemon (just speculation okay???), what pokemon do you feel were missing and should be implemented?

Ice types (at least two more lines please)
Dark types (same as for ice)
Fossils (I thought island fossils could have been sooo cool)
    More three stagers please.
I wish there were more pokemon like Turtonator, which reminded me of pokemon like Tropius and Druddigon, (similar to Magmar and Electabuzz). High leveled, one stage pokemon who dont need an evolution and could maybe get a prevo.

Instead, we got pokemon like Komala, Bruxish, etc. that got one stage but didnt go anywhere. These pokemon remind me more of pokemon like Farfetch’d and Dunsparce and Quilfish that have one stage and don’t go anywhere yet everyone wants them too.

    Thoughts?

    • tbh more pokemon = the new forms (necrozma armor whatever)
and because of gs on vc my bet would be alolan johto pokemon (not very exciting tho)

      Reply
          • ok to answer your question, i think a bunch of the one stage only pokemon. i would also love to see an abundance of the new pokemon in USM because 5% chance for the majority of alolan pokemon was ridiculous. but again, they said new pokemon that werent in sm, i took that as the new forms we saw in the trailer and possible alolan johtos because of the fact that gs are coming to vc and are bank compatible. I dont see any new pokemon. Did any other pokemon game add new pokemon like evolutions in between? as in, did bw2 add anything to existing bw pokemon besides the forms?

      • You’ll get it some day

And don’t overhyped it for yourself, you might hate the first Ground/Fighting

        • Don’t you think I haven’t thought about it

          • Thats a lot of really prominent types too. Almost everybody has a water type, and an energy ball somewhere in their party. Psychic is everywhere, Fairy has only gotten bigger and badder, and ice and flying hang out on teams more often than not. Sorry dude. That’s probs why it doesnt exist yet.

      • Also more Fairy types. I would love too see more fairy types. And their type combos. Also I generally just want more pokemon wth 3 stage evos, I know this is weird, but I would like that.
More Megas too with type changes. Like Water Fairy Milotic or Dragon Steel druddigon

        Reply
        • do we have an electric fairy that isnt tapu koko yet? my 3 favorite types are psychic and electric as the older ones with fairy being added because it has some similarities with psychic. i would like to see more combinations with these. also still waiting for an electric fire starter

          Reply
        • IMO Water/Dragon Milotic has always made more sense. I just want my Mega Infernape but I know if it happens at all it won’t be until Warp Diamond and Pearl.

          Reply
    • I agree with this especially with the dark types and fossils.
And less stand alones since, while I love some of them, I like playing with ones that evolve and get stronger (kind of part of my narrative of them changing like I am I guess)

  11. My view:
Really excited and I’m definitely gonna be in a speculative mood until these games are in my hands.
I am leaning towards sequel based on that route and the characters looking slightly different, but I doubt it’s just a ‘third version’. If it is a alternative story, that means it’s a different retelling and it’s not gonna be the same as SM so I think they will be worth playing because of that different story.
It’s kind of like ORAS where some details and things were changed to make a new story, except maybe they’ll change even more.
(And honestly I so want a sequel because that Gladion art that was from the night before makes me want it so much)

    • If we actually get new pokémon (don’t wanna build my hopes up too much for that), they need to correct their crime of never having alolan fossil pokémon. Never forgive, never forget

        • NO. I’ve had this debate at least a dozen times before so I’m not going to go into specifics but… THAT’S NOT A BLEEDING VALID EXCUSE. a)there are a bunch of cool subfossil species b) When tf has GF ever cared about valid biogeograpgy/geology before
These asses don’t deserve excuses being made for denying themselves so many creative options , and removing the most excting part of a generation for me.

Really sorry if I come off as agressive but as I’ve said I’ve had this debate so many times over and I’m sick of people letting GF get away with their usual bullsh*t decisions.

          • a) This is an issue I take very much to heart so no, I don’t see the need to calm down :p . No point in throwing an empty phrase like “it’s just a game” at me, me being angry about this doesn’t in any way indicate I don’t realise that? Does this seriously make it sound like it’s a serious life issue to me? Fact is if I see a mention of fossils and SM I’m bound to think of my most major disappointment with the games, and I’m perfectly entitled to express my opionion, no?
Again I have no intention of making anyone feel attacked at all, this is just literally the one thing that majorly pisses me off about these games.

            b) Yeah, in gen II that was basically gen 1.5 (which is a whole fascinating thing in itself). Any reasonable assessment of precedent (which GF admiteedly toys with in each generation) would take this into account and tell you fossils were still a stable pattern.

          • You literally told me to fuck off over a game. You can show your disappointment for a game, that isn’t what I said ‘it’s just a game’ for. I said ‘it’s just a game’ because you’re being rude asf

          • Just to point out is actually that some avis aren’t loading for me, I think most do have avis

          • For some reason the avi broke a few years ago and I just haven’t bothered to fix it hahaha

          • Oh hey fair enough if you got me confused with someone (which is fair if we don’t have clear profiles haha 🙂 .
Maybe be more careful before accusing me of literally telling yo to fuck though hahaha
I am very angsty over this specific issue but I honestly don’t think I’m directly rude to people. I’ve been visitng this site for years and only tend to comment when there’s actual news but I really cherish the friendly atmosphere and would never dream of attacking people here 🙂 .

          • Haha sorry today’s been such a blurr, I’m just glad Kuppo pointed it out before it got embarrassing XD

Yeah it’s fine to get frustrated as long as you don’t let it get feisty with other people and stuff, sorry for all the drama XD

          • Okay so since I actually replied to thinking you were someone else

            1) You do need to calm down. It is just a game. You can criticise it and dislike it all you want, but you shouldn’t let it legit make you angry.

            2) Yet Johto had its own regional bird, bugs and rodent, as well as its own starters. We’ve known since Gen 2 fossils aren’t a given and yet people let themselves get overhyped. Am I dissapointed that there wasn’t fossils (and the number of Pokémon in general)? Yeah. Am I gonna let that make me angry or overall ruin a game for me? Mope

          • I think we can basically agree to disagree on this lol.

I don’t see a need to calm down, I take this issue to heart, it’s no business of yours to police my feelings over it. A little anger is perfectly healthy, I’m not bursting capillaries over this or something.
It’s perfectly fine to think you should take enjoyment of fictional franchises with emotional distance, but that’s not everyone’s approach, and I’m certainly not the only one here who doesn’t (and again this happens to literally be the 1 issue that really gets to me).

Point 2 is frankly just nitpicking. I think discounting Gen II in this case is valid, you don’t, ultimately I don’t think there’s a single right answer of interpreting patterns. It is entirely valid to argue that GF break patterns whenever they fell like it so there’s that too. All it comes down to is me thinking this is an unnecessary and idiotic pattern break, and not wanting to let them get a pass on that haha.

I never said it ruined the whole game for me. SM was amazing. That doesn’t mean I’m going to sweep it’s flaws under the rug. Accepting the flaws and moving on? Sure, that’s sensible. That doesn’t necessarily entail forgiving them or accepting they were valid decisions. They still should absolutely be brought up when GF has a chance of addressing them.

But yeah, agree to disagree I guess.

          • I agree to agree to disagree :p

Also sorry for being kinda cunty about your anger and stuff, today’s just been a blurr and sometimes some people here can have their anger get out of hand so I’m kinda used immediately going into ‘calm. Down m8’ mode

  12. Lemme sum it up

    – Two versions is fucking stupid.
    – Should’ve been sequels*
    – This reveal trailer was really freaking bad
    – Necrozma Lunaala is perfect
    – More Mimikyu love
    – Maybe more customization? that would be nice. I have this irrational anger towards the new girl though.
    – If they have new alolan forms and/or pokemon as well as a plot thats different enough and new features like a REAL battle frontier then its a day one purchase. (B2W2/Platinum levels of content)
    – If not I will probably skip it or buy it later
    – Again, worst pokemon game reveal I’ve ever seen. Give us a full trailer or just.. something so we understand what this is without having to analyze “Never before seen pokemon” and “alternative story”

    Reply
    • This wasn’t mean to be a proper trailer tho, it’s just a teaser. It’s meant to drive you nuts and leave questions unanswered, your annoyance makes you interested in it

      Reply
    • They might be saving a longer trailer/more info until E3, at least that’s what I thinl. I knew it couldn’t be a huge trailer because of it being nearby and thought it would just be teased, like it was today.
It was sorta like that last year, where we got a majority of our info near or during E3

      Reply
      • I really hope so. My worry is that Pokemon likes to go silent for a few months after revealing the games not revealing anything. But since we are closer to the release than when SuMo were revealed it may not be like that

        Reply
        • Were only five months until release, I think we might get monthly info starting from this month or next

          Reply
        • Yeah, with 5 months, I doubt we’ll have that.
I also forgot about CoroCoro, they might also have info. (although they may not since it comes around E3, but worth mentioning anyways)

    • I agree with the 2 versions thing. Why can’t it be just one fucking game??? I’m tired of having to buy the 2 games all the time to get access to everything. Hopefully, this time that won’t be needed (depending on what they decide to make exclusive to each game).

      Reply
        • I don’t like to have pokémon that are not mine. As such, to make a living dex, I had to buy both Sun & Moon to get one cosmog and one cosmoem, one Type null and one Silvally, etc.

          Reply
          • No shit, dude. What kind of stupid reply is that? It’s not like I’m the only one making living dexes. How about GF making Cosmog or Type Null breedable instead? Is that too much of a problem? Fuck off.

          • Wow dude calm down? I’m just saying that GameFreak probably counts on people being willing to trade rather than having their own self imposed rules about only having their own Pokémon, and thus don’t expect people feeling its absolutely necessary to buy both games unless they actually want to. No need to be such a cunt about it :/

          • It was the way you replied that triggered me. “That’s your problem”. Was that suppose to make me feel better? Why even waste your time to tell me that?
Anyway, the problem is with the legendaries. I don’t mind getting regular exclusive pokémon through the GTS, cause I can breed those later to have my own. But do you like having a Xerneas/Yveltal from someone else instead of having your own? I don’t. This is why I liked Platinum and Emerald more than B2W2. You could get the whole legendary trio in one game.

          • I’m just pointing out that the two version thing isn’t a problem for anyone but individuals and not a problem with the games in that regard.

If I upset you, be mature and say so rather than being so dickish about it.

    • Personal thoughts on it:
      – This is correct, but it kinda has to happen. The games are too different from one another. Theirs only one Cosmog, so how do you determine which legendary you get? It sucks, but its a necessary evil.
      – Nope. B2W2 sold badly and I have no faith that they could do better after the crap Sun and Moon was.
      – It was a teaser, so its forgivable.
      – Both of them are trash and belong right along a certain Toucan you don’t like.
      – Also overhyped pokemon that doesn’t deserve that much attention.
      – Same with the new guy. I’ve never wanted to punch a character in the face so much as him.
      – Not for me personally. At that point I”ll simply be asking why it couldn’t be DLC rather then a full new game that most of us don’t care about.
      – But yeah, this is a hard skip for me. Not worth my time or money. Its just going to be an improved version of a bad pokemon game, and I”m not interested in playing it again.

  16. So is it too much to get excited over the prospect of new Pokémon?

We may see new Alolan Formes (but I really want some new Megas).

New Z-moves are hard for me to get excited about unless they start getting more creative with them.

    Reply
        • Honestly while i do think it’s very risky to assume any actual new pokémon, I think it would be reasonable to assume new alolan forms. There were so few of them, and nearly half of them were basically jokes, so I definitely fell like there’s major untapped material.

Maybe it’s safest to be pessimistic and just assume new legendary forms, but I think we do have a decent chance at alolans, if only following the gen VI precedent of new megas.

          Reply
    • in all honesty, i do not see megas coming to usm. i dont think it would fit to just throw more in when they stopped in sm for zmoves. z moves are unexciting (imo) but there will be more and we saw them in the trailer today. as for New pokemon, i said this below but i really doubt we will get new pokemon in terms of evos for those one stage pokemon like komala, bruxish, etc. as much as i would love them, i just dont think so. I see the forms and possibly alolan johtos because of the gs being on vc with bank compatibility. one thing i want is more than5% chance of finding alolan pokemon because that made sense. also get rid of golisopod (is this the name) ability or give hidden ability please

        • Alolan forms make sense if you look at real world nature where variations of the same species can exist due to different climates, diet etc.
The issue is that many aren’t explained well and are just because of Pancakes/ whatever.
Megas on the other hand are built onto the lore of evolution in the Pokemon world. Both are interesting but Megas generally have more potential to be game-changers.

Z-moves are pretty much just longer drawn out super moves that can get tedious fast. i found myself pretty much ignoring them completely during the main game.

  17. I combined everything that makes sense, other people’s theories and my theories to make one Big prediction:

You arrive in alola. You’re from Sinnoh. You have Daddy Issues. You get your starter. You meet your rival that is the protagonist of the opposite gender. You meet Kukui’s doughter that has a weird pokemon. You are saved by Necrozma and it recognizes the weird pokemon. It gives you the Z-ring. You go on your adventure. You fight 8 gym leaders (Grown up Trial capitains + Hau with a Psychic gym + Ryoku) and Totems (Ones from Sun/Moon + A. Raichu (Hau’s Signature mon is now a new Alolan form, his Raichu became the totem)). In the meantime you meet the cult-like Team Crystal that praises Necrozma. After that, That weird pokemon evolves into a second Necrozma that posseses Solgaleo/Lunala and opens a wormhole. He splits and posseses the Totems while preparing to posses the UBs. You have to fight the totems to get parts of Necrozma. He breaks out and posseses the UBs. Gym leaders fights the UBs, you have to get help from Team Crystal and Catch the Original Necrozma, use his Z-move and beat the second Necrozma. You win, the second Necro devolves back into the weird friendly pokemon. Then you battle the Elite 4 and Lillie the Champion. The end. In the postgame you can catch the UBs and battle in the Battle Frontier.

  18. Guys, I’m feeling like getting into pkm again after a few months off it. I started playing SM again a couple of days ago and only found out about the direct today lol. I’ve only watched 6 episodes of the anime, is the rest good?

    • I think taking breaks from stuff is always good tbh, it’s probably why I can post stuff here so much even I dry periods because I take breaks sometimes

I like the anime, but I think it’s hit or miss with some people. There’s filler but I actually feel they’re quite fun? Not fully caught up myself but this is just so far
