First Trailer for Pokémon the Movie 20: I Choose You Revealed

The Oha Suta trailer showed Ash meeting Pikachu for the first time and working to bond with it, while Ho-oh flew overhead. Not too much yet, but the movie will definitely look back at the beginning of the series.

I’ve created a slimmed-down version of what was aired which you can watch below:

    • Honestly I wouldn’t be against that. Given Pokemon suffers from the editorial mandate that Ash can’t grow up, kind of like Dragon Ball almost had with Goku, a reboot would be nice.

      • Well in the pilot episode, Ho-Oh flies by and thats it but in this trailer it drops a Rainbow Wing for Ash. Its not that big, but it is a additional detail which could have bigger meaning

      • he cant grow up because because must always be the star of the show…and growing up means that they will have to replace him at some point…its actually not that bad at all.

        • Not really. Characters can grow up and still be the focus of the show. Heck if they always wanted to keep the main character a kid, they could have ash become more of a mentor(like he was to may) to the new protagonist and eventually even age him enough enough that his child would become the new protagonist. Ash can always be part of the show, seeing him eventually reach his dreams, and then take a supporting role when that’s done. Its happened before, and people have enjoyed it enough.

  1. Well that’s interesting. Cool to see the animation style is more like an updated version of the original rather than completely different kind. Should be interesting to see. I wonder how they’ll tell the story tho. Obviously they’ll have to add in new content in order to make it more attractive.

  2. Looks like a ‘What if’ story. It would be nice if it was good, but I don’t let myself get my hopes up for anything anymore.

  3. There’s a pretty popular theory in Japan about a parallel universe in which Ash also exists, but he’s more like Red in this world and not the walking L he is in the current anime.

  4. Personally, not interested. I could just watch the first episode again. I know one thing. This movie better include Misty. I want brock but he doesnt appear until later.
(Also when Ash drags pikachu he is supposed to be wearing pink rubber gloves)

  5. I love how the animation is still somewhat true to the original Pokemon series, like when you look at Ash, it looks so similar to his original design.

  6. So, Breath of the Wild is officially shipping and will arrive here on Friday. The Switch hasn’t shipped yet, but following past trends it will probably happen late tonight or early tomorrow morning. I don’t really care about the accessories right now: if I just get those two things, I will have the pure Nintendo experience I’m hoping for. Amazon has a bunch of those Breath of the Wild amiibo for pre-order but I’m not going to get those yet. I just want the game.

In completely unrelated news, I decided today that I’ve just about completed my “challenge” of growing out my hair for one whole year, so I think I might get it cut short again this weekend. It really has been a fascinating experience to see how people’s reactions and expectations about me have changed (sometimes for the worse) for simply not doing this one thing, although nothing significant really changed at all. I consider it the greatest psychological experiment of my life thus far.

Anyway, this isn’t my personal blog. Things are going to start fresh in more ways than one.

          • Yeah it does, but it’s too late now. I’ll just get one of those premium Switch cases when they come back in stock, that’s all I really cared about.

    • That’s good, hope you enjoy BOTW and the Switch.

As for me, I’m not planning on getting it immediately, and I can wait to get my hands on the console, along with BOTW. I do think I’ll get it around the time SMO comes out, though.

    • Me i went to Best Buy in person and had the utmost help, this very nice lady got her entire crew looking up my order number and even had a entire spreadsheet with my name being on there (you gotta appreciate when customer service actually has a functioning brain), so all i really gotta do is PAINSTAKINGLY GET THROUGH TOMORROW AND CAMP OUT THERE STARTING AT TEN, and hopefully soon my Amazon stuff gets shipped, so far none of my accessories other than my Charge Grip is accounted for, i really hope my Gamestop order for a Guardian Amiibo doesn’t take too long

    • That’s awesome! Glad you won’t have the switch to use as a paperweight on Friday.

I’m just hoping that I can pick up my switch at BB and make it to GS before it closes during the midnight release.

          • Emboar is going to have Heat Crash or Blast Burn, Flamethrower, Wild Charge/Head Smash, and Hammer Arm, while Galvantula will have Signal Beam, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt, and Electro Ball. Somewhat limited in moves they can learn at the moment, but I’ve gone through this E4 in the past and they’re pretty easy for the most part.

  7. Ugh, these last few days are dragging by. Everytime I settle down to do something to pass time I just can’t focus, my life currently revolves around the switch. I remeber this same feeling with SM, FE Fates, and Smash 4. It’s a side effect of hype, I guess.
