  1. so i need to start thinking about my team
    all i got is
    Heatigre
    Lycanroc
    and Mudsdale

so i need something to beef it up, i wanted maybe an Electric type or a Grass type but nothing’s calling out to me

maybe i’ll settle on Bewear and maybe Jangmo-o if it looks tough enough

          • nope, well honestly in all my life the only Electric types i’ve ever ran for a main game were Electabuzz and Eelektross

          • Those are good ones. An electric/fire type would be perfect for my team since idk if I’m really into Salandit all that much and Turtonator probably won’t be available until late in the game.

          • Electabuzz is one of my favourite electric types. I feel I also need a Grass or Electric Type to combat Water types, I’m thinking Lurantis which I’ve seen you don’t like. I hope some good new ones are revealed soon. We never seem to get that many Electric types, in comparison to say, Water.

    • I can’t find a good Electric type too I hope we can catch Tapu Koko early in this game…and for grass type I choose Morelull I know Grass/Fairy-type sucks but it has a good design and actually only few pkmn can use spore.

      • Whimsicott is great, though mostly for it’s Prankster ability than it’s type. It would probably be better as a pure Fairy, maybe wouldn’t look as good though. I wonder if Morelull will Evolve.

          • But it’s SO FLUFFY. At least it’s use of Prankster is mostly to shut down status moves with Taunt. Stopping stuff like Will-O-Wisp.

          • No, but then I take it down as fast as I can, don’t give it a chance to set up. I have seen it try a substitute, but when I fought that particular one I was using an Infiltrator at the time. The only time it’s really annoyed me is when it was in a triple battle with Terrakion and used Beat-Up to max Terrakions’ attack I hadn’t seen it before, I counter it easily now.

          • doesn’t matter
if you can’t kill it on one shot or break its sub and kill it
            leech Seed
            Protect
            Sub
            Protect
            sub
            protect
            sub
and it goes on and on until you die

          • Prankster Taunt it? But then you’d have to use a Whimsicott too and hope you outspeed it. Grass types are unaffected by leech seed, have you tried using Torterra, Ferrothorn or Cradily?

          • So is using Whimsicott though. Sap Sipper would also work. Infiltrators, Magic Bounce and Magic Guard, predicting and Protecting/Detecting are some other options.

          • Imprison with Substitute could work, as could Liquid Ooze I think. Really if you’re not willing to try other options, or Pokémon you dislike at the moment then you are kinda stuck. Maybe gen 7 will introduce your saviour.

          • liquid ooze? there’s only like 2 pokemon who can use it and one of them suuuucks
Although Tenacruel could try to Acid Spray it down to size but honestly i see Tenacruel only as support and a rapid spinner then a offensive

          • If it can take down Whimsicott in that role maybe it’s worth a try? Also Sound based moves pass through Substitute, not sure if that helps at all.

          • I think Quick Guard blocks moves with raised priority from Prankster. No Ground types learn it but a few Rock and Steel Types do. I’m trying to find other options but it really does seem to be quite limited beyond what I’ve suggested.

          • The only thing I might be comfortable with is a Infiltratior Crobat but even then you can’t guarantee it’ll stay and let me hack it to pieces

          • Use Infernape it can be super fast with a Flame charge or just regular stats and being physical attacker Flareblitz it to death

  2. LOL the absolute state of this

Anohi, #000 on the Alola Pokédex which directly translates to “rainbow origin” is a mythical Pokémon that was born in the colors of the rainbow. Type is Fairy and has a unique ability called “Prism Tone” where it gains STAB on Electric, Water, Grass and Fire-type attacks.

    >Marshadow, a gigantic scorpion (most likely based on an emperor scorpion) that is said to slumber in the oldest temple in Alola. It is venerated as the bringer of destruction. Once awaken, it covers the sun with its tail and every living being will fall under its command. Marshadow’s typing is Dark/???, which second type changes depending on the jewel it wears on its head. Has a unique ability called “Umbra Legion” where its teammates get STAB with Dark-type moves.

    >Parcuatro, a legendary Grass/Flying that is said to reside in the heart of Lush Jungle. Based on the flower “Bird of Paradise”.

    >Agatha of the Elite Four is the Kahuna of Akala Island. Uses Tapu Akua, a Ghost/Fairy guardian.

    >Alola forms:

    •Bellsprout line – Electric/Grass

    •Ekans line – Water/Dragon

    •Doduo line – Fighting/Flying

    •Persian – Dark/Psychic

    •Tentacool line – Water/Electric

    •Jynx – Grass/Psychic

    >No new mega-evolutions. Megastones can be located through a minigame in Rotom-dex.

    >Every main protagonists (male and female) from the past 6 regions can be selected as online default avatars (which also gets 3D models during battles)

  3. Lmao it keeps coming

Leaked concept arts (from the starters) are directly from the anime (implying Ash’s Litten will fully evolve)

Starter evo names: Mightigre, Sirenade, Shoothood

Synchro is not real, the starters secret is that they have their own exclusive Z-moves and are dual-type

Pokemon with day/night forms: Salandit, Cutiefly, Rockruff, Vikavolt

October 4th info features: Dolphin Water/Electric for Sun, Dolphin Water/Fairy for Moon

    More than 110 Pokemon

    Type: Null is Marshadow pre-evolution

Team Skull and Aether will acquire both version mascots at one point in the game

  4. *Sigh* Yknow, I wish one of these episodes was just ONE battle like Blastoise vs. Dragonite almost was instead of cramming in a bunch of peeks at the battles. When I heard of Generations, I thought each battle would be an episode in and of itself, they deserve to be, but right now, Pokemon Generations just seems like a series of trailers to me. Good animation doesn’t mean squat without substance.

      • I’m hoping it’ll get better as time goes on, like next episode will be Red vs. Blue. However, if it follows the pattern, it’ll be a tease.

First episode: Pikachu battles a bunch of pokemon. Great! Hope there’s more!
Second episode: Police hunt down Giovanni. Oh cool! Look at Arcanine burn down that wall!… Oh! They have him cornered, will they battle him? No?… He just walks away? Ok then?…
Third Episode: Blue challenges Elite 4. Or, more accurately, Blue uses one attack per League member then sits on a throne…
Episode 4: Red vs. Blue. If this pattern continues, Red and Blue exchange quips, battle scene starts, skips battle so Red enters Hall of Fame. Taking all bets!

  5. I LOVE this!!! Especially since it shows how blue became champion! One issue is that there doesn’t seem to be a “champion” before blue… So idk how the system really works now lol. But other than that WOW!!

I also love how this kind of shows that Agatha has some kind of mischievousness to her which I believe in the manga this was fully fleshed out as she was a part of team rocket or something? And the way Gengar entered the battle XD amazing!

I’m really lovin these shorts. I hope they are like a trial run for an actual series in a similar style aimed at older members of the fanbase. That’d be AMAZING!

    Reply
    • It’s that simple, really: no one had ever beaten the Indigo Plateau Elite Four before. Blue was the first. There was no Champion before him.

That’s the case in the games too. When you beat Lance, he says you’d be the Champion if someone else hadn’t defeated him a little while before.

The games’ League isn’t like the anime League. Even collecting the eight badges is a rare occurrence and kind of a big deal in the games.

      Reply
      • if u read oak’s pc it saying that the e4 is calling out trainers to come challenge the league. so it adds on that the Indigo Plateau was recently created before the events of R/B/G/Y

        Reply
    • MANGA SPOILERS BEWARE: Agatha (and the rest of the elite 4 for that matter) were massive villains in the Advenures manga, distinct from team rocket (in fact team rocket fight together with the main characters to defeat them, and Giovanni has a pivotal supporting role). They wanted to destroy humanity because of the damage they were causing to the environment, and their endangerment of wild pokémon.
In fact Agatha was by far the most evil of them, with a relatively young Lance being something of a misguided ideologist (and even fighting other antagonists later on), Lorelei being pretty nasty but also scarred by humanity’s evil treatment of pokémon (and she turns up in a supporting role later in the Sevii islands), and Bruno actually being brainwashed by Agatha rather than actually a willing participant. Agatha however is pretty much pure evil, though she does indeed believe in the validity of their goal, she harbours a deep hatred of Oak stemming from rivalry in their youth gone sour, and nearly succeeds in murdering his grandson with her gengar’s dream eater.

So yeah, this definitely has some neat hints to that version of the character, though nothing close to the manga counterpart’s utter evil.

  6. The only thing I liked about this was the little meeting the E4 had at the beginning, and the ending with Blue waiting on the throne for Red. The rest was just a waste of really good animation *sigh*

  7. Wow apparently Nintendo Europe will not progress any Wii U orders anymore after September 30th. Guess they’re going all out with the NX?

  9. Seems as though Pokemon Leagues are a recent addition to the Pokemon World and occurred after the Kanto War in Kanto and there was no Champion until Blue.

  10. The Wii U is close to being completely dropped by Nintendo. Rumours and sources state that the Wii U is in it’s last order date for retailers in Nintendo of Europe. Expect to see the NX rather soon; before mid-October. It’s about to become a hot product in a few years as it seems like Nintendo will completely cut production by 2017. Peace out Wii U, you were great while you lasted.

  11. My God… That animation in Episode 3 was outstanding. Seriously, why can’t the anime just be this with either Red or Ash. I loved the perspective they took with Blue instead of Red. It seems like Blue lost respect for Oak with him forfeiting his training for Pokemon research. I just felt the tension and emotion when Red and Blue confronted each other. I seriously hope Episode 4 is the battle between them. Lastly, I loved how they kept some continuity with the VS. Seeker being on Red’s bag. Just all of that detail didn’t go unnoticed. Why can’t this be the core animation team of the Pokemon Series. rf. that feeling when you see too many hawt girls. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/eef1af3195034f4ef0a695228312477ce206ab59488d241c9f07ed3d72cc6c17.png

  12. I know this is probably so foolish and naive of me to ask (yet I post it here anyways), but is anyone else paranoid/nervous by Lockstin? He just to me seems like someone that always has to be right and I’m afraid of what may happen if he is right. As long we get to use all 800+ Pokemon in this supposed “major reboot” theory he’s getting on about, I’ll be fine.

    Reply
    • He specifically mentions in all of the theory vids that some stuff he says is a bit of a stretch. Educated, but still a stretch. I’d say 80% of what he’s saying might actually happen

      Reply
    • I think his theories are mostly great. Some are pushing it, but it’s the fact that he’s talking about a complete reboot that makes me think twice. I don’t necessarily think it will be a complete reboot but another soft reboot like Black and White were.
Maybe he is right, but I think the whole Alchemy thing might lead to something else than, say, a reboot.

      Reply
    • I don’t really see what advantage they would have to doing a full reboot. I think mixing up the games a bit with trial captains and such is about as “reboot” as they’ll go.

      Reply
      • Black and White were already soft-reboots of the games. Sun and Moon are taking it a step further with no gyms, elite4 and standard league format. The biggest complaint the games have, is that they are stale gameplay-wise and haven’t really changed it all bar small tweaks here and there.

  13. Love the animation.. but I find English voices really take away from most animes for me. Like how I often prefer to watch and read foreign film as apposed to american I suppose

Also New Ash would fit right in design wise. I know people hate him but he fits this animation people love.. aside from his noodle arms : -/

Also I Officially Love All the starters.. even Popplio’s final evo.. will I use it? No. But I will be excited when I see others use it in battle. I hope they are all good stat wise!

    • No. I did as well. It was around the part where he said “DON’T COMPARE ME TO THAT OLD MAN!” I could just imagine Oak hearing that and killing himself and it was just….

      Reply
    • I did not. I found his personality to fit the one he has in game. He’s being portrayed as a powerful, yet “snotty” trainer. I loved emotion he showed when he was being compared to Oak; which he ultimately detested. He wants to surpass his old man. Considering his rivalry with Red, I absolutely love his Blue Oak.

      Reply
    • That was likely the intention. Blue is a jerk; you’re not supposed to like him in the first place. I think his appeal is his stark contrast to all the happy-go-lucky characters the franchise throws at us.

      Reply
      • Hmm haven’t heard that one before I feel it should be something else unlike Crabrawler it seems to be solid for no additional typing

but some things that is a pet peeve of mine that I’d like to say (more my friends do it not you guys)

        – that Flygon should have an Alolan typing of Dragon/Bug
        – That it’s confirmed that only four trial captains exist
        – They say Crabrawler should be Water/Fighting

        Reply
        • omfg why can’t people accept Flygon is a ground type, GROUND G-r-o-u-n-d ground!
it makes sandstorms for crap’s sake, it’s called the desert spirit, desert as in sand, it was destined to be revolved around sand ever since it was a Trapinch, it will never ever be a Bug because it is a Ground type first its not Dragon/Ground its ground/dragon ergo ground first dragon later but like everyone they treat it more of a Dragon and completely forget what its truly about

          Reply
      • I think it’s a similar argument to the one people had pre-XY. A few people were confused as to why Pancham wasn’t Fighting/Grass simply because of its leaf. It just doesn’t have enough grassy qualities to be a Grass type, in my opinion.

  14. Hmm… Honestly the french dialog and voice acting was noticeably better on this one IMO. I’m curious to see if there’s a noticeable difference in the future.

    • We could only hope. Why doesn’t the Pokemon Company just make these guys the main animators? They clearly have some outstanding taste in artstyle and talent!

      Reply
      • Yes, and no. Remember anamiation’s not cheap. Long running series have to reuse certain animations or take advantage of cutting corners where they can, where short series can blow their budget since they only have to last a few minutes. Its the old college project vs. professional product argument.

  15. I really appreciate how antagonistic they made each E4 member. It truly reflects the personality of someone who’s been cooped up for who knows how long, waiting for someone to actually obtain all eight badges. It shows just how hard the Pokemon league really is instead of glorifying and simplifying it like they do for Ash.

Anyway, the new generations was pretty cool. It’s not much to look forward too, but generations is entertaining. The coolest part of this one had to be when Agatha sent out Gengar. Also (ok, I know it isn’t hosted here, but I want to get the word out) if you’re in the tournament and haven’t done any battles, you have one week to start participating before you get DQ’d. I need to know who is really participating still and who is just unresponsive.

  20. AH the animation in this episode is just outstanding!!! Even the short battles between Blue and Lorelei and Agatha were exquisite. The dialouge betw agatha and blue also revealed much about the relationship with his grandfather. The only letdown about this episode is the pokemon battle itself!! I thought they would show more or how blue defeated lance to become champion…

But overall, still a great generations episode!!

  21. It’s nice to see that these shorts answer some little questions. We saw that Elite Four reside in Pokemon League, and they got prepared when a new trainer approaches. So they don’t wait in their “battle room” for a trainer to come. What surprises me is that in the first scene when we see a statue and four staircases leading to doors, it is exactly the layout of Unova League. Unova was the first league where the battling of Elite Four didn’t take place in succesive rooms that you have to go in a predetermined order. Actually in Unova what is seems is that you go to where Elite Four resides, or more precisely where spend their time, in order to battle them.

  27. I have had my fair share of competition in Pokemon but I just found a neat group that could beat some of the most overused Pokemon (M-Rayquaza, Primals, M-Kangaskahn, haven’t tried it but it’s a theory

    1. Galvantula for a Gastro Acid attack use to dissipate all Abilities (I’ve done it this is proven) and has attacks like Thunder and such to take down Rayquaza and Kyogre yet with disadvantage to Rock and Fire meaning can be beaten by those types easily some of these others can help counter that
    2. Clefable possibly one of the most confusing why no one uses it, it can use Gravity to take Rayquaza and all other Levitate or Flying Pokemon down then with Galvantula it can use its wide movepool to smash them out of the park
    3. Hitmontop the last resort v.s. Kangaskahn knowing its speed can prevail over and it using moves like Triple kick and Close Combat then Wide guard to stop Pokemon from crushing its allies in seconds
    4. Reunicleus lets be real this binds up the whole team with its use of recover, High Attack, and its versatility to use Trick room and Skill swap to take it allies up into their full potential
    5. Slaking we all knew the big fat guy might be here on this list and of what I’ve read it has one of the highest totals of all Pokemon ranking 29 highest stat totals of all time in these games and with Reunicleus’s Skill swap can unbundle its power and can send it spiraling in with whopping strength and speed with a variety of moves at his disposal.
    6. M-Gyrados no one will get this one for its power falls under its ability to take out Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza for it can use Outrage, Flamethrower, and Hydro pump for Mold breaker breaks ineffective moves

    So what’s your comments?

    Reply
    • Uhhhhhhh Galvantula would just be two shouted because of its fragility and Mega Kang fake out into a Return killing it, then retreating if gastro acid (they’re NEVER gonna let that stay)
Clefable on the offensive is decent but is outclassed by everything else better off as a wall
All Psychic types this generation fear boosted Knock Off
Slaking is powerful only as a Choice Retaliator but Truant still hurts it
And seriously M Gyarados is easily wrecked by Primals since All Gyarados run the same thing, DDance, Waterfall, Crunch, Outrage/Earthquake and during the turn it sets up Kyoge can two shot it with Thunder and P Groudon disables Waterfall and Earthquake only gets it so far and before you say Mold Breaker it will not bypass a weather of Extremely Harsh Sunlight which negates Water moves

      Reply
    • Galvantula is good for Gastro Acid but it’s so frail. Chances of you being able to get it set up before it faints is fairly small with the new VGC rules.
Clefable I almost always run because its so flexible and bulky and immune to dragon. Hitmontop is king of priority moves. They just need to bring back Sucker Punch as a tutor move.
Reuniclus; their are some better options out there for trick room but it takes too long to set up and can be a double edged sword.
Good luck getting a Skill Swap out on Slaking before Reuniclus is taken out.
It’s not my favorite Mega design, but M. Gyarados is my favorite Mega to use. I’ve won so many times with it. Very versatile.

And if they linger SUSUSUSUCKER PUNCH

I know Hitmontop (Fake Out and Priority), Clefable (Follow Me, Bulk and immunity to Dragons) and Mega Gyarados are good in VGC however.

      • I get the feeling they’ll try to rave on about Lavender Tower at some point, and probably something about the Mansion on Cinnabar island, maybe showing the day the island volcano erupted or something mewtwo related, then they’ll want to do something in the powerplant and something in Seafoam islands, and something in Cerulean caves and before you know it it’ll be all about Kanto.

As for interesting events from other regions, aside from the individual climaxes of each story and the champions of each league, there’s:

        Johto:
the day the Brass Tower burned down, the incident at lake rage, the time Team Rocket took over the radio, the time Glitter Lighthouse went out because Amphy was sick, stuff to do with the whirl islands, stuff to do with the Ruins of Alph, stuff to do with the Slowpoke well

        Hoenn:
the truth about the Regis and the Sealed chamber, stuff about Southern Island, stuff about Birth Isalnd, a history of the Cave of Origin, a deeper look at the space project on Mossdeep, the origins of Sky Pillar (e.g. who actually built it and why), the origins of the dessert ruins that appear in emerald, hosting the fossils, stuff about Mt. Chimney or Meteor falls, the history of the Devon Corp., the full story behind New Mauville and its failure, a look at the mystery behind what Prof. Cosmo’s father did for the Devon Corp.

I could go on, but there’s 3 more regions… anyway, you get the picture.

        Reply
        • I agree they could do a lot with Kanto. Especially focusing on the transition between gen 1 and gen 2 Kanto. But I very much doubt that’s all they will focus on. There’s is so much from other regions they could go into as you mentioned.

Personally I wanna see the fallout between team rocket following Gen 2s story climax. I also want to see the damage caused during the Gen 3 climax. Maybe some more info on Mt Pyre, the orbs, Cave of Origin and Sky Pillar. I also want some closure on Maxie and Archie and not just a ‘we’ve seen the errors of our ways’ bs

          Reply
          • The eruption of Cinnabar volcano is probably one of the few Kanto events I wouldn’t mind seeing. If they end up doing anything about Lavender Tower I will go ballistic.
There is a lot they can do, but my faith grows thinner every time they draw the attention back to Kanto with megas, alolans and specialised Z moves (Snorlax, Eevee, Pikachu, Raichu… the pattern is there but so far nobody has questioned it)

I really want to see some focus on the ruins of the regions and the ancient civilisations because we know next to nothing about the people who built the ruins or what the regions used to look like. It’s only in the last two games and the next one that they’ve started to try to forge a timeline/history that stretches back further than the last few years. The Kalos war, the Delta episode and the creation of Magearna.

Prior to that all the legendaries have just been accepted as being there and they’ve mentioned the discoveries of ancient groups of humans, but never anything about the culture of the ancient peoples or any major events. It’s as if the world has only existed for about 20 years at the most…

    • Don’t forget about the concept art of N, team plasma, Kalos and the fact that the freaking poster has all generations on it and it’s called generations and we saw all the generations in the trailer.

      Trust me, don’t worry.

      • That’s no comfort. Need I remind you how many megas Kanto ended up receiving in comparison to the other regions/generations?
They have a major Kanto bias, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were only one episode per non-Kanto generation.

        • Need I remind you that Kano, being first, is also the least useful gen of pokemon. Most gen one pokemon were considered trash pre gen 6. They needed the boost more then any other pokemon, with gen 2 close behind. As well remember we’ve already seen footage of the legendary beasts in Jhoto, so we know that their likely coming soon, probably next episode honestly.

          • They could have just tweaked the stats with little effort and they probably wouldn’t have had much complaint from fans, but instead they decided to make them centre stage, to the detriment of the new region’s own pokemon.

We know they make an apperance, but we don’t know how many episodes will focus on other regions. They may only do one episode per region.

          • tweaking stats slightly isn’t easy in pokemon. Simply its easier to create new forms where you can re-balance it how you would like, which is what they’ve done.

          • From the programmer’s perspective, it’s as easy as overwriting a few bytes of data.
It’s the community that finds issues with it.

I would still have rather they attempted something region forms prior to G7. One of the biggest issues I have with megas is the non-permenance.

        • I see where you’re coming, but if you look at the Mega evolution distribution across the generations, Hoenn has the most (In X/Y: Kanto: 10, Johto: 5, Hoenn: 8, Sinnoh: 3, Unova: 0, Kalos: 0, In ORAS: Kanto: 3, Johto: 1, Hoenn: 12, Sinnoh: 2, Unova: 1, Kalos: 1 => Total: Kanto: 13, Johto: 6, Hoenn: 20, Sinnoh: 5, Unova: 1, Kalos: 1). It makes sense for Hoenn to have the most b/c of ORAS, with Kanto in second b/c of X/Y

X/Y, Origins, Sun/Moon etc. definitely display a Kanto-bias, but I suppose that’s to try and bring in the older fans.

          Reply
          • Hoenn only ended up with the most when ORAS added more, prior to that Kanto was king. I admit they probably gave Hoenn too much focus too, but that’s a bit more understandable since they were remaking the region. In particular, it’s tragic that Kalos, the region that introduced megas, has only one mega evolver, and it’s a legendary.

And the key thing about those 3 are that they’re recent, much like generations. The only recent thing to not show Kanto bias is ORAS. It showed Hoenn bias, but it was set in Hoenn – it’s supposed to. Every game should be centred around the region it’s set in, with older generations either being linked in with the generation (e.g. via evolutions like Tangrowth, Roserade or the Eevee-lutions) or making less prominent appearances as catchable pokemon in the region.

They’ll never bring back the ‘older fans’ because those people (without meaning to invoke a fallacy) are not true pokemon fans. They made their decision to abandon pokemon long ago. The only thing they feel is nostalgia, which isn’t the same as genuinely liking the series. Granted, even the real fans have things they dislike about later generations, but at least we can see and accept both the good and the bad and just not abandon them just because of the few things we dislike.

        • I mean. Maybe.

But why else would we have a Pokemon generations poster with the primals, with Lysander and AZ, N, and with Cyrus? I mean I would be very suprised if they did all of that for all kanto or even just one episode of non-kanto. Plus in the trailer they show us mostly non Kanto stuff. They also showed us a lot of stuff in the trailer that isn’t Kanto too.

So there is hope. Don’t worry

          Reply
          • One episode per generation (Lysander and Az for G6, N for G5, Cyrus for G4).

No logical argument is going to convince me, it’s a matter of faith in this case.

    • Don’t forget a lot of kanto was already covered in Origins. I don’t think they’ll linger much longer, if at all. Blue vs Red is basically the last arc from kanto, other than mewtwo, which they did in Origins.

Volt Tackle, Megas, Alolans, personalised Z Moves – their determination to bring the focus back to Kanto will never cease.

          • Jeez when you put it this way I realize how much it seems like some kids birthday party and there is one kid in the corner that everyone is giving attention instead

          • Exactly. They need to make all regions shine, not just Kanto.

So far the closest they’ve got to that is the monthly legendary pokemon download/giveaway. It’s certainly given me more appreciation for legendaries I had previously forgotten about by making them more accessible. For example, I think this is the first time I’ve actually owned a Shaymin.

          • I think a lot of people haven’t knowing everyone looks for them and if I wouldn’t have lost White I would have 5 I’m on fire with them

          • kalos actually has an interestingish environment though, kanto does not. Cliffside lookouts that you can see to the routes and cities below, a desert area with a gorgeous cavern, the reflection cave, a ghastly marshland, and the booming lumiose city, just to name a few. kanto is mostly isolated cities, with a cape town or 2. that’s definitely due to hardware difference however, as I’m sure kanto could be interesting with a 3d environment and a little polish.

          • The things I like about Kanto is
            1. Revisiting it in Johto
            2. Vermillion City and its HGSS music
            3. It’s great difficulty curve

Other than that all it has is nostalgia

          • revisiting it in HGSS was what I liked, it had effort put into it this time around, it was blank as heck in the original G/S/C. I didnt find that game any more difficult than the others though. I played through yellow recently and dear god my poor moltres doesn’t learn any moves leveling up in that game other than agility…. good thing blaine gave me a fire blast tm.

          • Move sets in gen 1 were just awful. Articuno was probably the best of the birds back in Kanto though. Wish it didn’t get overshadowed. Stealth Rock and Ice just being a vastly underpowered type just destroy it

          • 3 is more about G1, not the region itself.
And the difficulty was more to do with the restrictions built into the game than anything else. If you played a modern game and limited yourself to using G1 Pokemon with G1 movesets you’d find it a lot harder.

Not to mention the differences in damage calculation and other things.

Also it sounds like you’re only imagining Kanto in its HGSS incarnation, which is admitedly is probably its best incarnation (despite the lack of Pokemon mansion), but that’s still a slightly biased way to look at it.

          • That’s probably more to do with the way the Exp mechanic was than anything else. They didn’t have a way to boost the exp gain of a single pokemon, only to share the exp earned out over the whole team.
Plus the distribution of grassland/caves/water was a bit odd.

          • I haven’t worked it out, but I get the imprssion that proportionately there are more Kalos pokemon that I like than Kanto pokemon. e.g. Trevenant, Gourgeist, Noivern, Aurorus, Hawlucha, Slurpuff, Aromatisse, Pangoro, Gogoat, Talonflame (genuinely my favourite regional bird).
As for the locations, I’d say they’re equally bland, but possibly a little bit prettier.

Regardless, I also cannot wait for the genwunner phase to end.

It’s clearly a double ploy to A) try to hook old ‘fans’ back in (which is practically impossible) and B) to try and capitalise on the popularity of Pokemon Go (more plausible, but still not going to work as well as they expect).

          • I love people saying that the new pokemon are poorly designed when a lot of gen 1s were pretty bland. I mean, I like them okay, but.. Tauros? Seel? Pidgey is literally a freaking bird.

I had such a hard time making a team when playing through Red honestly. Blastoise, Jolteon, Ninetales were obvious picks. Then.. Vileplume I guess? Ok I guess I can use Marowak. Ehhhh I mean I didn’t want to use a legendary but Articuno I suppose.

Even Gen 2 had better mons. The starters all were cool even if they had pretty bland typings, Furret, Ampharos, Tyranitar, Espeon/Umbreon, Slowking, Crobat, Togepi line, Jumpluff, Scizor, Heracross, Marill, Hitmontop, Kindra, Skarmory, Houndoom, Sneasel, And awesome legendaries.

And yeah, they have been trying to get old fans back since Gen 6 and it didn’t work so IDK why they think doing it again will help at all. GO is so different from the games anyways that I doubt it would actually change much

          • I’ve always been half and half about Venomoth. I don’t hate it like I do some pokemon, but I’d rarely consider using one.

          • Yeah. Granted I dislike (e.g.) Trubbish and Vanilluxe, but I also dislike Grimer, Seel, Rattata, and (to a degree) Ekans. (Tauros is probably one I like slightly more even though I rarely use it. I like it more than Miltank at least.)

Yeah, it’s not just the limited choices, but also a lot are much more difficult to catch, especially the Safari Zone pokemon and the inability to hatch new pokemon from eggs.

The G2 starters are one of the very few cases where I actually like all the starters. (Not equally, but to some degree, i.e. there is nothing I dislike about them)

Furret is one of my favourite pokemon, I just wish Sentret were a bit cooler and Furret were a bit stronger.
I’ve always liked Ampharos, but I wish it had always had the mane of wool its mega form gets. That’s one of the reasons why I don’t like megas – Ampharos deserves a permenant wool mane outside of battle as well.
I actually used a Crobat for my ORAS playthrough.
Espeon and Slowking are two of my favourite pokemon as well (again, despite their weaknesses). Scizor is both one of my favourites and strong, like Crobat.
Heracross is another one I like, but I wish it had got a proper evolution instead of just a mega.
Kindra is one of my favourite Dragon and Water types, and made me like a line I otherwise wouldn’t have liked much.
I always liked Sneasel and I like Weavile even more (I just wish it didn’t have so many weaknesses with its typing).
The rest aren’t among my favourites, but I don’t dislike them either, I appreciate them all as decent pokemon.
The legendary dogs were infuriating to catch, but a good idea nonetheless.

            They just won’t give up.
It’s only recently occurred to me that it might be only Kanto pokemon getting personal Z moves, so far they’re 4 for 4, so I seriously hope I’m wrong about that.
Go is different, but I’m sure in someone’s mind the prominence of Kanto pokemon is going to somehow make P-Go players decide to play Sun and Moon (ignoring that it would mean buying a 3DS instead of staring into a phone all day).

          • Yeah. Why are Alola firms only for Kanto Pokémon? That’s makes no logical sense unless Alola is inhabited only by Kanto and Alola Pokémon.

          • There are so many pokemon that could use alolan forms. Imagine an Ice/Grass Jumpluff. A ghost/water ludicolo that does that spirit dance from Majora’s Mask. Poison/Fairy Vespiquin! A Fire type Zebstrika! Dark/Fairy Leavanny

            SO MUCH POTENTIAL

          • Not sure about those examples given (I still feel there should be precise justification to the retypings) but I agree there are a great many Pokemon that could benefit.

          • Ice/Grass Jumpluff would be like a hoppip that was flying around and got stuck in a snow storm and some how gained ice typing.

Ghost/Water Ludicolo would begin to do some crazy spirit dance that would give it supernatural powers. Maybe give it a unique Z-Move

Poison/Fairy Vespiquen would be like, some magical bee princess thing? IDK

A Fire Zebstrika could be in an environment that causes it to convert its electrical energy into heat energy.

Dark/Fairy Leavanny… idk. I just think it would be cool. Ate too many pancakes

          • “somehow” is not specific enough for my tastes. I like specific stuff. Vulpix and Sandshrew make sense because of their real world arctic equivalent, Meowth makes sense because of breeding and Marowak makes partial sense because of trying to overcome its weakness to its predators (similar to why Zangoose has the Immunity ability).

I dislike the Ludicolo idea for the same reason I don’t like Marowak having Ghost typing. One does not become Ghost type by learning to dance.

Vespiquen losing its Bug typing wouldn’t make sense, but attaining Fairy or Poison alongside it I could believe.

The only reason I dislike Fire Zebstrika is because it would be too similar to Rapidash. I could believe it becoming part Grass because of its Sap Sipper ability, but Fire seems a bit odd. Would need detailed justification.

Again, Bugs losing their bug typing wouldn’t make sense. Bug/Dark or Bug/Fairy I could live with. I could imagine it gaining Dark from living in a dark forest or Fairy by living near other faries or fairy rings. Losing its grass typing would require its form to change quite drastically though, it would have to stop looking like a leaf. Unless it became Fairy/Grass by somehow ascending into Fairy form, (which I guess means there is a circumstance in which I could accept Bug type being dropped, but that’s probably the only case I’d be happy with).

Bottom line, I really don’t want region forms to be an excuse to just give every pokemon a crazy typing for the sake of ‘being cool’. They have to be properly justified. Gaining a typing to overcome a predator or adapt to an enviroment are the two best reasons for doing that, as long as the shoe fits.

          • The Keystone would be a Volcanic rock and it’s body would be fire. This could be based off the “curse” tourists will get if they take Lava rocks home from Hawaii. It works perfectly!

          • Well Froslass is based on a japanese legend of this woman in a kimono getting lost in a snow storm and becoming a spirit? Something like that? So it could be similar, but have it be all hawaiian

          • Oh. I thought you might say that. That’s why I have one. With only one icy mountain in Alola, not many people climbed and Frosslass didn’t get prey. It decided to hide in the dense forest which lots of tourists went to and kidnapped them there.

          • That doesn’t make sense, there are plenty of Sandshrew and Vulpix about.

Plus you’d have to change Snorunt and Glalie too because if there were no food on the mountains then they’d have to come down into the forest as well.

          • Yeah, there are so many possibilites.

For example, I would love to see a Jungle or Mountain variant of Gogoat.

And there are plenty of Normal pokemon from the various generations that could benefit from a retyping.

  28. Hey I have a question why are some abilities in ORAS is it that not one Pokemon has it like rebound, persistent, and Mountaineer there are no Pokemon with those abilities

  29. I got mixed feelings about this Pokemon Generations. I mean these animated shorts are AWESOME, the same way pokemon origins was, but on the other hand I hate the fact that this is not a regular series. The more I watch it, the more I wish it was! so that’s way I don’t want to get too hyped about it. This is a wasted opportunity, a gold mine….but instead they just want to keep with the current pokemon cartoon with lame Ash and company xD

Judging from these three shorts alone, many of can tell beyond the shadow of a doubt that a full length Pokemon series with this tone, dialogue, story, and animation would be phenomenal. Sorry if you can’t see the vision 🙂

I mean, Lorelei’s breasts were bigger than her character development

Sometimes developers DO know and GameFreak, compared to other companies is obviously much more in tuned with their fan-base then people give them credit for. Maybe they’re not catering to Generation 1, but rather catering to nostalgia itself and want new players, returning players, etc… to re-engage with the original games that made Pokemon what it is today.

        • Honestly I’ve just never been a fan of the Gen 2 starters. They were terrible even in-game. Designwise they’re not the greatest either in my opinion. I just felt they were really …. boring.

          • Interesting. They are only the first set of starters I had issues with. The second set were Gen 5. I just think if the starters aren’t something I’m gonna enjoy using in-game, they don’t appeal to me. Even when not look at them from a competitive standpoint.

I didn’t enjoy playing the Gen 2 games because of that, and Gen 5 thankfully had Pokemon like Excadrill and Scrafty which I enjoyed using, so it made it bearable.

I’ve actually liked the starters of all the other generations (yes, even Delphox was fine).

          • Delphox wasn’t one I had issue with. I actually regret not choosing Fennekin and wish I’d had Delphox as my starter.

I didn’t like Greninja because of its creepy tongue scarf, I like Chesnaut and Chespin but I feel Quilladin doesn’t fit.

As for the others, I don’t like Samurott, and I’m not a hug fan of Venusaur, Empoleon or Torterra.

Starters are never a game breaker for me, but this time round it’s starting to look like it’ll be the first time where I stick my starter in a box and use only pokemon caught in the wild, but it depends on the second stage forms and whether or not I change my opinion about the final evos after seeing them in game.

          • Are you kidding? I feel like they’re one of the stronest (not battling, but just in general) trios we’ve gotten.

          • I’ll join for the sake of it:
            Hoenn
            Johto
            Sinnoh
            Kalos
            Kanto
            Unova
(With Alola at the bottom unless something changes my mind later)

          • I can live with everything but Unova being higher than Hoenn.
That equates to saying Samurott is better than Marshtomp, Serperior is better than Sceptile and Emboar is better than Blaziken.

          • They get some bits right (like calling plumeria ‘big sis’) but others are pretty awful (mainly Z moves).

I’m halfand half about wishiwashy. On the one hand it’s a bad name, on the other hand it’s an accurate translation and I can’t think of a better one.

          • Things I dislike:
            – Passimian ISNT A SIMIAN
            – Pikipek’s name
            – Crabrawler. The words crab and brawler only overlap one letter, I feel like they would’ve done better.
            – Lunala isn’t Lunaala
Things I think they did well
            – Type: Null’s name seems fitting
            – Komala’s name
            – Jangmo-o’s name (even though I prefere Jangmo’o)
            Things I can’t forgive
            – Lycanroc’s name
            – Sandygast’s name

          • To clarify about lycanroc, I realize that a lycanthrope is a werewolf. I just think that Lycanthroc is a better name; at least it has an overlapping letter, it isn’t just two partial words slapped together.

          • The problem is, it’s only a wolf, it’s not a man.
            Lycan = Wolf
            Anthros = Man
Lycanthro- = A portmanteau of Lycan and Anthros

I’d be more in agreement if your complaint had been the lack of a ‘k’. (‘Roc’ was a legendary bird, which is unfitting)

          • Passimian is a Prosimian

            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prosimian

-Pikipek doesn’t bother me, but I’m not going to judge it until I’ve seen its other forms.

-Crabrawler I’ll grant you is a bit odd.
-Lunala is a bit of a tough one to call, looking at the Japanese I’m not sure if it’s suposed to be Lu-na-la or Lu-na-a-la
-Type Null is just stupid, but it’s accurate. The Japanese is Taipu: Nuru
            -I like Komala’s name. Coma-koala
-Jangmo-o I very much agree with. The original name is Jarako out of interest
-I like Lycanroc, particularly because it uses the word ‘Lycan’ (meaning wolf)
-I agree Sandygast is awful, I’m not a fan of Palossand either

          • The only thing I hate about those sand ghost are the fact that they have shovels in their heads never really liked any pokemon that hold man made objects.

          • I agree about pokemon holding man made objects, but in this case I dislike the name and the pokemon designs, shovel or no shovel.

          • The Lycanthrope reference is cool, but it seems illogical to leave off the “thr” part, esepcailly since rock starts with “r”. Also the Passimian thing is cool, thanks for sharing that with me.

          • Someone else pointed out the ‘prosimian’ to me the other day because I missed it on my first read of the wikipedia article on Lemurs.

It does sound better, but the reason for leaving it out is (as I mention in my other comment) that ‘antros’ means man, and it’s not in any way human, it’s simply a bipedal wolf.

          • Out of interest, I just dug up my guess for Rockruff’s evolution’s name and my guess was “Lycanoctis”.

            So close 😛

      • “Noctis” is the genitive singular of the latin ‘nox’ meaning night or darkness.

Could have gone for Lycanox but that would have been a bit cliché, though it probably would have been more correct, admittedly.

          • At the time (1 month ago) we didn’t know Rockruff would get a split evolution, or that one would be a day form and one would be a night form. Heck, lots of people still believed the rumour that it would change type and become a dual type pokemon. 😛

          • Yeah, I just meant now we know what it is that it would work for that one. If it had been a re-type with Dark I imagine they’d have called it that to differentiate them more.

          • It’s gonna happen some time, assuming the series keeps going, which unless the next games do catastrophically low sales, they will be.

          • The issues are social rather than technical. Unless people are idiots and have got their pokemon databases configured incorectly. They probably either are scared of it because it’s a big number or scared because somewhere they wrote “we promice to stop before 1000” and are worried about breaking the promice.

          • Yeah. It made me sad when I found out Almomomola wasn’t an evolution of Luvdisc :C

Also I think all Pokemon should be at least two stage, I dislike having single stage pokemon, it feels like a waste.

          • Whilst I like a lot of one stage Pokémon I kind of agree, though I don’t want a bunch more useless baby Pokémon. Alamomola wasn’t enough like Luvdisc for me, except colour and general body shape, for me to be too bothered by the lack of connection. When I first saw Luvdisc before gen 3 I thought it would evolve into Gorebyss.

          • Baby pokemon would be less useless if they put them in the wild more. Putting Elekids and Magbys along (e.g.) route 3 of a game would mean they’d become Electabuzz and Magmar by the time you’re part way through and eventually can become Electivire and Magmortar in time to fight the E4.

Don’t forget, aside from the colour and the shape, Alomomola also has the Hydration ability, which is Luvdisc’s hidden ability, so I’d suspect they’re at least related.

I had the same thoughts about Gorebyss until I found out the truth. Clamperl was one of the latest entries into my Ruby/Emerald dexes because I was late finding out about Clamperl’s evolution. I thought it was a single stage for quite a while (this is pre-internet :P)

          • Yeah but then you still have to trade evolve with items to get Magmortar and Electivire. Would make them a bit better, but I guess they are supposed to be too young to be in the wild for some reason.
We didn’t know Luvdiscs HA before Alamomola was seen, so apart from some similarities it never bothered me.
I just didn’t evolve Clamperl back then because we didn’t know how, until we got one of the unofficial handbooks with Pokémon World (I think) magazine. Which is also when I discovered why Luvdisc wouldn’t evolve. From then on I’ve had some dislike for it, that and now because of Wonder Trade.

          • Then there’s stillTogepi, Pichu, Cleffa, Igglybuff, Azurill, Budew and Riolu. If they were to keep the evolved forms out of the wild it would end up being a much better mechanic.

They are all found in the wild at some point in various games, but usually it’s too late or their adult form is obtainable anyway. E.g. Mime Jr. and Mr. Mime in Reflection Cave in XY

At least Luvdisc are still good for Heart Scales.

          • Well I guess Wynaut 😉
Heart Scales are their only use for me, even then a different Pokémon could hold it or it could be a different item, mushrooms used to be used for the same purpose iirc.

          • Wynaut only exists for the purpose of completing the Japanese joke that Wobbuffet started, which sadly got lost in the English translation 😛

I could say the same of many Pokemon.

  33. So Gen 6 apparently blocked the nickname “Barf” so when I was transferring my shiny Dratini and didn’t realize it, it got rid of its name 🙁

    • This is starting to get me thinking. They’be been doing weekly updates for quite a while now, and next week they choose to be silent. I would have expected information on the 28th or 29th following the normal pattern, but they’re waiting until the following Tuesday. Could this finally be the week that the NX is announced? Unless they just want to build up suspense, there must be something else taking up Tuesday and/or Thursday. But that’s just another Xatu conspiracy theory.

        • Should I take that statement literally? You truly don’t believe it will be talked about in 2016 after it’s been stated repeatedly by authority figures? It would be ridiculous to give the NX any less than five months between reveal and launch.

          • All we’ve had is small interviews/mentions here and there, nothing major. Besides which, Nintendo chooses when to reveal, not the 3rd parties.

Also they’ve got investors meetings scheduled for October, so it will probably still be ‘secret’ at that point in time.

I’d guess November at the earliest if you’re lucky.

But then again, I haven’t been following any news about it other than when the patent got filed. I’ll wait until it’s been revealed and they’re announcing games before I take anything more than a passing interest, especially after the WiiU being so unimpressive.

          • There’s already an Animal Crossing Nintendo Direct scheduled for early November, so I sort of doubt they would use that month. They couldn’t go any later than early November anyway because of election coverage, NES Classic Edition release, and general Christmas antics (unless they pair the announcement with Super Mario Run). The investor’s meeting really is their deadline in this case. I guess it’s possible that they could announce a December reveal date in the investor’s meeting, but that just seems really weird. Those people will want to know exactly why Nintendo is making the decisions they are making by seeing the system on that date.

          • The next Japanese election isn’t due for another 2 years.

It doesn’t have to be revealed by the investor’s meeting, they’ve already shown it to Ubisoft before the reveal, that could have been a ploy to get other investors interested so they can show it to the investors before revealing it to the world. It would give them chance to get feedback about what investors don’t like so they can change it before it’s actually revealed.

Revealing it after Christmas or around New Year would be a good tactic, especially since this is supposed to be rumoured to be a ‘reboot’ for Nintendo. New year – new Nintendo.

Plus people will be playing pokemon over December and they’ll probably want to wait untill all the 20th anniversary events are over so they haven’t got too much going on concurrently.

And there’s two bank holidays right after new year’s day, so it’s reasonable to expect people will be at home resting and watching TV before they go back to work, which would be a good time to unveil it.

  35. I reviewed recent information trends to see if this October 4th reveal could hold any hints about a Nintendo Direct of some kind next week. I feel like it does. The middle of August was very busy: Tortunator was revealed on the 18th and Crabrawler was revealed the next day on the 19th (along with Sandygast and Palossand). After that, we were left in the dark for 11 days until the 3DS Direct was announced. This was after a steady stream of information (almost weekly) dating all the way back to June, just before E3. I’d like to make it clear: they have given us 14+ day gaps before, but each time is has happened there has ALWAYS been a bigger reason.

    Reply
      • Yeah, I think that they’ll give us something good for waiting for so long. But I also think that the NX could be revealed on the 29th or 30th. Maybe.

        • At this point I’ve given up trying to guess when the NX is going to be revealed…..They REALLY need to show it off, but every time people have said it was about time for them to do so they didn’t…soooo…… yeah lol Anyway I’d imagine as far as Pokemon go we’re getting closer to the point when they’ll reveal the starters first evo. I think when they do that we’ll get further hints towards the final evos and a better idea whether we’re getting single forms for them or split forms life Lycanroc.

  36. I noticed a new (probably insignificant, yet interesting) detail while observing the Aether Foundation employees. Both of them, in addition to Lusamine, Wicke, Faba, Lillie, and Gladion have distinct difference in their eyes that no other character has. The glare is very prominent and looks almost artificial. Normally I would’ve just chalked it up to a stylized glare, but then why do no other characters have it? Not the players, nor the professor, the mother, the trial captains, Hala, Hau… No one except those with ties to Aether. I’m guessing that they’re altering their own genes and this somehow ties in with the UBs, hence their resemblance to certain humans.

          • I don’t really care. We’ve had humanoid and unatural pokemon since Gen 1, which is why I question when this taste for animalistic designs started.

          • A turtle with cannons on it’s back standing on 2 legs, a freaking dragon, and a mouse with red cheeks and a lightning bolt tail also standing on two legs. Totally natural. That and Persian is just a big cat, and how many people do you see so much as talking about him till now that he might get an alolan form? Yeah, Persian was pretty forgettable.

          • They’re no more different from the animal they’re intending to be than the drawings here.

Persian was not forgettable, everyone remembers Persian as being Giovanni’s pet Pokemon.

Let’s look at some others though.
            Pidgey, a brown pidgeon.
            Rattata, a purple rat.
            Ekans, a purple snake.
            Sandshrew, a regular shrew.
            Zubat, a regular bat.
Mankey, aside from having its head and body combined, it looks pretty much like a normal monkey.
Magnemite is a metal ball, some magnets and some screws.
Golem is a boulder with a head.

All the early pokemon were simple, as have many others been over the years.

Heracross, Delcatty, Infernape, Archeops, Meowstic, Komala.

The only difference between the final of Litten and the version presented here is that one is bipedal and has a belt, and one is quadrupedal and has a spinal attachment instead. It’s enough to make it look better though.

          • Well of course your supposed recognize the animal within the designs, but don’t let it be something that you just see in everyday life otherwise it’s forgettable, which is why I like the evolved forms of the pokemon you mentioned. They have personality along with the animal inspired design. Same for pokemon like Heracross and Infernape. They keep of balance of looking unatural but your still able to recognize what animal it’s based off of. What most of you are looking for is just an animal, but on fire.

          • I just want it quadrupedal and not a wrestler.

They managed to make Solgaleo quadrupedal and good looking, I don’t know why they’re so terrified of making a quadrupedal starter.

I admit that design in particular is lacking a bit of detail, but there are plenty of excellent alternatives out there.

            http://otakukart.com/animeblog/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/unnamed-2-300×267.png

Heck, there’s even a few bipeds that actually look reasonably decent:
            http://orig02.deviantart.net/3af9/f/2016/156/0/5/litten_evolution_firoothless_by_scottahemi-da534ex.png

          • It’s not that they’re terrified. They just want to let the starter’s be their own things. Have their own themes and personalities.

          • They’ve never had a quadrupedal fire type, the closest they came was Typhlosion, and that spends most of its time upright.

They almost certainly have some bizarre rule about it.

          • It’s kind of unfair to say that since most of the fire starters are based off bipedal creatures to begin with. A dragon (which can be either or), and badger (can stand on it’s hind legs), a chicken, and a monkey. It was only Gen 5 where it started getting unatural with designs.

          • Badgers are classed as quadrupeds.
            Monkeys tend to be knuckle-walkers.
Pigs are definate quadrupeds, as are foxes. Delphox is excusable because it’s supposed to be based on a mythical shapeshifting fox that was said to walk on its hind legs.

They had no excuse with Litten. All cats are quadrupdeal and can’t stand on their hind legs for more than brief periods of time.

          • This is why I said they can only stand on hind legs. Even though they’re quadrapeds they can still stand on the hind legs.

And you see plenty of monkeys walk on just two legs as well

Like I said said, Emboar is where it started to break from it’s natural counter part.

And to compliment on the shapeshifting fox thing for Delphox, there are myths in Japan about domesticated cats that stand on two legs and achieve human like tendencies called nekomatas. There are variants called mountain nekomatas that are much more wilder and come from wild cats like tigers for instance. They are much more ferocious like what you see from the wrestler, and can even shapeshift into humans which you see in the humanoid design. So yeah, Litten3 also matches a particular myth.

          • Not for long periods though, only to catch scens in the air.
I could stand on all fours longer than a badger could stand on two.

Depends on the species, not many do, and those that do still have to keep their arms quite low. Most can only manage it because they use their tail for balance.

I am well acquainted with nekomata (which is both singular and plural because it’s a loan word from Japanese). For example Espeon is based on a nekomata, hence the split tail.

However, Litten probably isn’t based on a nekomata, if it were they would have given it a more spiritual theme, or at the very least not turned it into a wrestler. They are ferocious, but they share very little in common with wrestlers.

          • Yes, I don’t think it’s good enough justification. Mountain nekomata are ferocious and animalistic, wrestlers are actors in fancy dress.

          • They are large, ferocious, can shapeshift into humans (in other words humanoid), and are very violent. The wrestler theme is only to match up with all those aspects. It just makes sense conceptually.

          • Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Designs are all very much relative, there’s no such thing as a good or bad design when it comes to imaginary creatures.

        • I 100% agree with you. That tiger looks so boring to me. The Owl and Sea lion are fine i guess, but damn that thing is just a tiger, that’s it….nothing stands out about it.

          • What exactly do the changes consist of?
It’s possible it has changed and I’m just ignorant.

(There is a reason I chose to do programming and not web development after all :P)

          • I can’t see anything that’s changed.

The background is the same, the logo is the same, the navbar is the same and the pictures look the same.

          • From what I can tell:
-The site name at the top is now aligned to the left.
-The tabs on the brown bar at the top are now only 3, pretty sure there were more before.
-The main article image now says who wrote the article, the date and how many comments there are.
-Fonts have changed slightly (some look heavier e.t.c)
            – All articles on the main page, have dates visible
            – Advertisement look very different

Like i said, they are not major, but still noticeable.

On phones, the article and comments section now fill the width of the screen.

          • -The left alignment might be new, but I’m sure it was like that last night.
-There were definately only 3 options last night or the night before, I know because I used them to access the forums.

-That’s plausible, I never take much notice of who wrote the article until I get to the end.
-Sans serif fonts tend to be much of a muchness.
-Again, plausible, I tend not to look at that information.

I never use phones to look at internet articles, so it’s probably more of a phone thing.

          • I can’t be 100% certain of all the specific changes since I have no picture from last night to compare it to. But I am definitely seeing and feeling some overall changes as i’m using the site.

I guess it depends on the different ways people perceive things.
Some people can spend an entire day in a room and not be able to tell what colour the walls were. Whereas others will tell you with confidence they were white.

          • Welp, feels the same to me.
I don’t tend to spend much time up the top anyway.

I’d probably take more notice of a room since it’s a physical location and intended to have aesthetic qualities, but to me websites are just interfaces to data – I care about the data more than what colour the website is.

      – 10% chance of finding
      – Is a big ripoff of Cacturn
-only appears in an area of the game that many people miss if they aren’t looking
-has worst Grass type design from Gen.5
-Most forgettable Pokemon (according to many YouTubers even)
      -Horrible stats
-Sooo many Pokemon can have a bigger role in a team to it
-It’s pure grass (should have gotten Fairy type)
      -It’s a standalone

I think I’ve made my point it should be erased

      Reply
          • I would like Fairies a lot more if they were as elusive as Ghosts and Dragons, but they’re just throwing the typing around just to make up for the lack of Fairies. When Dark and Steel were introduced we only had a small handful of each, but the populations grew steadily over time.

          • It’s a little late for them to steadily grow and most Fairies make sense they all share the… You guessed it Fairy egg group making them fairy

          • it has 2 measly flowers on its cranial lobes and that’s where you get fairy….
            that just makes me angrier

          • Pretty=Fairy pretty or cute Pokemon are almost always fairy there are exceptions though also Pink normally = Fairy

          • No existing Fairy types have flowers incorporated into their bodies. The Flabébé line carries them and exists symbiotically with them, but the flowers aren’t part of them like they are with Maractus.

          • Ok I admit I’m wrong but at least realize Maractus needs more than one type it has the most fragile type (shared for most fragile with Rock with 5 weaknesses each) and it’s pure typing mix with stats makes a bad matchup

          • Maractus did indeed get the short end of the Grass type, but saying Grass is one of the most fragile because of its weaknesses isn’t correct. They may not be physically powerful, but a large portion of Grass types are status beasts that can whittle anything down in time, reflecting the real-world longevity of nature.

          • I see the point you’re making, but it’s not the strongest point. If that reasoning held true Bellossom, Cherrim, Sunflora, and Roserade would be Fairies. My point is that flowers are more linked with Grass, prettiness is subjective, and if Fairies were pretty, then why isn’t Milotic – the prettiest Pokemon – a Fairy?

          • GF does dumb things at times yet it still needs some new typing like Monkeyfuzz said make it Ground or Water then it can have coverage to make up for it

      • Oh right and more

I guess it’s mega made it somewhat more agreeable, but if I had to get rid of one pokémon (a concept I really don’t like to think of tbh, because thought actually goes into every single pokémon, and I think you can find design value even in your least favourite if you take a closer look), it would definitely be that one.

There’s a lot of Kanto pokemon I’d like to get rid of, like the Machop line, but I won’t list all of them or I’ll be sat here for another hour while other people chime in to tell me how wrong I am.

There’s a lot of stuff from other generations too, but after 10 minutes of thinking I’ve settled on Cryognal.

It just serves no purpose, it’s got a weird string of beads for a mouth and it doesn’t even know what it’s supposed to be. It’s only got one (rather useless) ability, it’s stats are completely ridiculous (135 sp def but 30 def) it’s got 1 resistance and 4 weaknesses. It somehow knows solar beam despite its pokedex entry claiming it turns into steam if it gets too hot, and dear god what is wrong with its shiny form!?

  42. Just signed up for Amazon Prime, which means I get almost $20 off Sun and Moon. I think Best Buy does the same Preorder deal with their gamer program, but Prime is a better deal, imo.

  43. Is anyone here familiar with how the My Nintendo rewards program chooses rewards? I want to know how likely it’ll be that a Sun/Moon discount will be offered as I’ve got 1,130 points saved up and nothing I want to buy.

  44. I’m loving the new mobile look of PokeJungle. It’s a serious improvement to the older interface.
Anyways, after hunting for NX information, I finally found something interesting. There was recently a job opening from Nintendo for someone that excells at GPGPU and Heterogeneous Computing. These terms are rather interesting because it’s what AMD names those process. Everyone knows that AMD and Nvidia chips work similarly, but if Nintendo was really using Nvidia, why would they use AMD’s termonlogy. Nvidia calls these process: GPU Accelerated Computing and Heterogeneous HPU. To explain what these parts do: GPGPU allows the GPU to take some of the computing from the CPU and Hetero. Computing allows for x86 and ARM architecture to be easily developed for and it allows them to share informetion, apps, and software without the developer having to do annoying, extensive porting or optomizing.
This is beginning to show that the NX is a separate handheld and console that share information between each other. The console is likely AMD CPU and GPU (x86 architecture), with the handheld having an ARM CPU and DMP GPU. It also falls in line with the recent Pokemon CEO comment, Ubisoft’s comment, and numerous developers stating the NX was easy to develop for. Honestly, I doubt a hybrid system is even happening as Nintendo said the NX might incorporate multiple devices and that they want to do something similar to Apple, by having all devices work in harmony with different power, similar interface, and form-factors. I expect to see the NX sometime between September 26th and October 10th based on other rumours. Nintendo is running out of time to show the thing off.

    • “Heterogenous computing”
Aka, two types of processors e.g. a CPU and a GPU or having one processor for the new stuff, one for backwards compatibility. (Like they’ve been doing for years.)

      “GPGPU”
Aka, using the graphics processor for non-graphics calculations, e.g. general vectorised floating point operations.

      It doesn’t guarantee AMD.
Those two terms are actually the correct terms for the concepts.
In fact, it was Mark Harris, ‘Chief Technologist for GPU Computing’ at Nvidia that actually came up with the term “GPGPU”. Nvidia CUDA is an example of a GPGPU system in use by Nvidia for example. As is OpenCL (a non-vendor-specific GPGPU language).

GPGPU has nothing to do with x86 or ARM since GPUs don’t use x86 or ARM instruction sets. It’s plausible there might be some systems that attempt to translate x86 or ARM into the instruction set used by the GPU, but typically GPGPU functionality is achieved through specialised languages like OpenCL.

Again, GPUs do not run x86 code. It’s possible that they might use AMD CPUs (which run on an x86-64 ISA), ARM CPUs (ARM is the same ISA the DS variants run on) and a DMP GPU (assuming DMP is ‘Digital Media Professionals’), but there is no GPU that uses the x86 ISA.

  45. Alright I’ll come clean I made some bad moves with my reasoning behind Maractus a fairy type, but come on GF give it another type to make it a helpful Allie cause why would someone try to use a Grass type that has somewhat less decent stats than most others and has a weakness to 5 types be useful like make it Grass/Ground think it’s better than Fairy idea cause reasons

    -Lives in Desert
-needs another type to help it stay up
-Viable for competitive with two abilities that immunize Water which would be useful in many ways

So simple make it Ground type

And for those who wonder it’s not my least favorite it just has some reasons to blow steam off on it I like all Pokemon it just happens to get at lot of my attention in a bad way sorry Maractus I only hate your anime episode anyways your not the worst.

          • They should change it because it’s so hard to tell the difference. Why didn’t they stick with the brighter blue of Gabite? Whoever designed shiny Garchomp is an idiot.

          • “Back in Gen.4”
Shiny Maker: Ok we have some good Shinies like Mothim now we need a sh*ty one for this Gen.?

            Guy: How about Garchomp?

SM: Yes the Psudo let’s just change its shade to piss off the masses

            Guy: Genius

            Both: Mwuhahaha

            “2013”
SM: What did we do to Garchomp I know Mega should be pink

            Guy: Genius!

            “This year”
SM: what now do we do for Shinies

Guy: Garchomp has tanked we can’t do it

            SM: Make it random

    • The only way it’s going to get better is if it gets an evolution, which is unlikely to happen. Storm Drain could become useful if it had the base stats to back it up. With Ground comes a 4X Weakness to Ice, without boosts elsewhere it wouldn’t be helpful. Water wouldn’t be much help either since it’s still outclassed by Ludicolo. Design-wise these type additions make sense, but they wouldn’t give it much help in competitive viability. It can’t even function in a support or utility role particularly well as it is. I actually like Maractus btw.

Magikarp boat will take you to the Kanto resort, where you can battle several NPCs who show up there randomly. Red, Blue, Leaf, the gym leaders, E4 and Lance. Oak will give you one of the starters

Steelix submarine will take you to the Johto resort, where you can battle Ethan, Lyra, Gym leaders, E4 and Archer. Professor Elm will give you a Johto starter

Huntail ferry will take you to the Hoenn resort. Brendan, May, Wally, gym leaders, E4 and Steven can be battled and Prof. Birch gives you a starter.

Whiscash ferry takes you to the Sinnoh resort, where Lucas, Dawn, Barry, gym leaders E4, Cynthia and Cyrus can be battled. Prof. Rowan gives you the starter.

Wailord line takes you to the Unova resort, which is split in two islands, Black Island and White Island. The Black Island NPCs include: Hilda, Hilbert, Cheren, Chili, Cress, Cilan, N and Alder and the elite 4.
White Island NPCs include: Nate, Rosa, Bianca, Hugh, Iris, Zinzolin, Ghetsis. Prof. Juniper and her father are also on this island and will give you a starter.

Kalos doesn’t have a resort, instead after collecting 50% of the Zygarde Cells and shown them to Dexio and Sina, they will offer you to travel with them to Southern Kalos Island which will have a couple of new towns, a forest and a cave where 50% Zygarde resides. After capturing Zygarde, several NPCs will appear in Sunnete City and can be battled like on the other resorts. The NPCs include: Calem, Serena, Trevor, Shauna, Tierno, gym leaders, elite 4, Diantha, Lysandre and AZ. Additionally, Sycamore is also present and will give you a Kalos starter.

    Oh yeah, refresh
