Today, April 28, Mewtwo is officially available for purchase at the DLC shop on both Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Here is your chance to grab the first generation legendary Pokémon as a playable fighter!
We’ve been toying around with Mewtwo since the pre-release on April 15. Mewtwo is a clone (ha!) of his former appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee. but his moves are much more refined and he seems floatier than his previous self.
Additionally, he’s got a fresh palette of fancy costumes!
If you forgot how Mewtwo plays, his neutral special is Shadow Ball, similar to Lucario’s Aura Sphere though it doesn’t damage others upon charging. Charge up Shadow Ball for full power and save it for later.
Mewtwo’s side special, Confusion, will flip opponents in range and reflect projectiles thrown at Mewtwo with increased damage.
Mewtwo’s up special, Teleport, will cause Mewtwo to disappear and then reappear. It can be manipulated with direction and can dodge attacks upon execution.
Finally, Mewtwo’s down special is Disable, which will cause those hit unable to move until they snap out of their distortion.
Watch this short, and may I say epic, For Glory match I had with another Mewtwo on launch day for visual gameplay on the new fighter and how he battles.
I was not serious about the epic part as this was my second or third play as the legendary Pokémon.
Mewtwo’s final smash, however, is absolutely of epic proportions.
If you registered your Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U products on Club Nintendo before April 1st then not only should you have already received a download code for Mewtwo since April 15 but you also have probably already downloaded and played Mewtwo countless times and don’t need me to tell you this! If not, head over to the DLC shop and Mewtwo will cost you $4.99 for both consoles or $3.99 for one.
Let us at PJN know how you’re enjoying Mewtwo, and his old man screams!
