Hidden Ability Johto Starters Announced

The official Pokémon site has just announced the Johto starters will be distributed via bank with their hidden abilities! According to the official site:

Pokémon Bank has revolutionized the way Pokémon Trainers store and manage their Pokémon among their Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire games. As a reward to current Pokémon Bank users, a special distribution event is on the way! Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr, the final Evolutions of the starter Pokémon from Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version, are all being distributed. All three Pokémon come with Hidden Abilities. Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr will be given to those who access their Pokémon Bank account between February 27 and November 30, 2015.

Meganium‘s Leaf Guard Hidden Ability protects the Pokémon from status conditions when sunlight is harsh or extremely harsh. Plus, this Meganium knows the move Sunny Day, allowing it to take advantage of its own Ability!

Typhlosion has the Flash Fire Hidden Ability, which powers up Fire-type moves by 50% and prevents this Pokémon from taking damage from Fire-type moves. With three strong Fire-type moves already in its arsenal, Typhlosion can make the most of Flash Fire in battle.

Feraligatr‘s Sheer Force Hidden Ability eliminates the additional effects of this Pokémon’s attacks, but they will do an additional 30% damage instead. This Feraligatr knows three moves that have additional effects: Ice Punch, Crunch, and Waterfall. They won’t cause their additional effect, but they’ll all do huge damage!

To receive these three Pokémon, players need to use Pokémon Link in their copy of Pokémon X, Pokémon Y, Pokémon Omega Ruby, or Pokémon Alpha Sapphire after they have accessed Pokémon Bank using one of these games. Note that each Pokémon Bank account will be able to receive these three Pokémon only once.

Pokémon Bank users, look forward to getting Meganium, Typhlosion, and Feraligatr starting February 27, 2015!

So, anyone excited?

  1. It’s nice that the people with Bank are getting something nice (I already had a Celebi so I don’t really count it). I wish they’d give us Shaymin, Mew, or Manaphy sometime in the future. But I guess they won’t if these HA starters last till November 🙁

  2. I don’t like the way Typhlosion’s is worded. From what they said, a normal personal would assume you get the 50% increase in attack right off the bat, but it’s only when hit by a Fire type attack
Still a cool thing though, I mean who doesnt like extra Pokemon taking up boxes that in reality, you’ll never use

  4. I bet I’m probably the only one that remembered this, but March’s CoroCoro should leak around the middle of next week.
Here’s hoping for at least something to get us theorizing and speculating.

  5. I saw more Pokken Tournament Gameplay and the game looks great. The graphics are really good and it really makes me want to see a Wii U Pokemon Game.

Anyways, it seemed like there are huge balancing issues with the game. Machamp barely could get hit on Suicune and Gardevoir. It’s mostly because Machamp has no ranged moves. Also, small Pokemon like Pikachu easily got countered and cornered. All the Pokemon with far ranged moves absolutely #rekted everything. This might be the largest problem with the game.

    • There are three types of fighters in the game
      Power Fighters(Machamp)
      tactical fighters(Gardevoir)
      Balanced fighters(Pikachu,Lucario,Suicune)

Machamps attacks seem to do a lot more damage than any other fighter plus all pokemon have different HP’s with Machamp having the highest, pikachu seems to be the fastest while Gardevoir has lots of ranged but weak attacks ..Lucario looks like it’ll be the best for beginning players.

i think the game is going to be pretty balanced
