It’s once again time for our weekly Pokémon Smash coverage. We’re not expecting much this week so we will not cover the episode live, instead we will provide a write-up once the episode has finished airing.

The episode this week didn’t show case anything significant in terms of Pokémon News, however a brief summary can be found below.

  • Pokémon Fashion Flash, was the anime episode re-aired in Smash this week
  • The Smash gang are running an X & Y segment, with a chair made up to look like Flabébé
  • Numerous games are in the segment, all relating to X & Y
  • A little new gameplay footage was shown, featuring the PSS in action and a look at the new GTS
  • The weekly Eevee Friends segment aired, featuring Leafeon and a… questionable salad

    I don’t know what they mean by that since the episode for next week is supposed to be dealing with some wow factor (Mega Evos), so unless they’re showing Grant or Clemont I don’t know what else could be shown lol

    • Well, maybe. The one thing is Corocoro is not actually officially even out yet, but The Official Pokemon sites, Japan included, have already updated with the big news. It is possible that Smash might show some Mega related news, but, I do kinda doubt it’ll be truly NEW Mega Evolution news.

  4. If all the starters DO get a mega-evolution then it seems Blaziken might not get the spotlight like most of us think. I mean, okay maybe Fennekin has finally met her match but we don’t know for sure. In my opinion, upstaging the three starters especially Fennekin by allowing a Gen 3 starter to be disrtibuted is risky but since GF has always played it safe, it’s good to see them try something new and just as the NPC in Pokemon said, “I hate it when things change but it get’s boring when things don’t change.”

  7. Well today we do actually have hope for something new. And by new I mean footage. With these new pokemon and things that will likely be revealed on smash from Nintendo/Corocoro will be old, maybe smash will showcase new footage of these developments. Heres to hopin!

    • Hmm, yeah. There seem to be some miscommunitication going on. Next week should be an XY special, seeing as that is the one after the official Corocoro release. This one will probably only have some extra five second footage.

  9. Whether they talk about it this week or next, I can’t wait to see the people on Smash react to Mega Evolutions. They lost their minds when Octillery showed up in that x&y demo.

          • Just asking, since Poke’jungle is for all ages to enjoy Pokemon and I know that you have some young viewers so, are you allowed to curse and use foul language. I’m one of those people that tries to at all cost stay away from foul-mouthed people and if I had children I would never allow them to read such things or hear such words. I understand it’s part of life but I just don’t think cursing should be allowed in Poke’jungle so the site would be even cleaner and people of all ages can enjoy reading news, reading comments, posting comments, and above all should enjoy the community. I don’t care if I get over 1000 Down-votes for this but that’s my opinion.

          • It really depends on the message you are conveying. When you’re using foul language to attack someone, it surely is a no-go. However, there is a line of reason for such things. I generally accept it if means you are underlining a statement but only if you still argue rationally and if you are nice to all the others. General rule of thumb is that we are PG 13, seeing as children under that age likely don’t visit the site much and almost certainly don’t read the comments much. (technically, you have to even be age 13 and up to register for a Disqus account)

          • I understand now and it seemed I went a little overboard with my opinion. LOL. But alas, yes it does seem that way, Jordin. Although I don’t see 1st Graders in my school running around like that and saying such words. In my school running is prohibited inside, saying such words would get you expelled and owning a phone in school would get you sent to some Boarding School.

            Edit: Sorry that was meant to both Jordin and Dae. LOL. I always get this wrong and I need to really stop adding LOL to everyone of my posts. LOL 😀 Okay that will be my last LOL Okay I’m done LOL 😀

          • Funny thing is younger kids are already saying bad curse words. In my school I see 1ST GRADERS running around yelling out “Mother******” “Shut the **** up! etc. It is honestly really sad to see kids that young yelling out those words. I see them with phones that cost 500+ without a case. Why would a 1st grader need something that costs so much to break it or something? What I’m saying is that kids these days are pretty spoiled and learn these words from their older brothers/sisters, it’s inevitable, sadly..

  39. The screaming lady was screaming again… While sitting at a table with an Eevee… While everyone else what sitting at tables with eeveelutions… And there was a blue box with a ?… Does that mean new Eeveelution?

    • Hm, I wonder if it’s possible they will maybe show something else new at the end of the tournaments and such. Start with Mega Kangaskhan, end with something else.

    • Mega Evolutions because they are temporary and the regular form with Eviolite would be horrendous. :O Imagine a Blaziken with Eviolite..

  48. Does anyone think that the ? could be a completely new Pokemon (NOT an Eeveelution or a Mega Evolution)? Or that the ? IS a Mega Evolution because of its huge debut recently?

  49. @Staff is there any chance you guys could make a “History of PokeJungle” article? I really would like to know more about the history of this site before the first post on here at the moment, I’m sure others would too!

    • They aren’t doing the write up on episodes that aren’t X and Y specials because most likely nothing would be revealed and nothing was so..

    • Abslutely nothing has been shown and moving was so tired he probably forgot about updating the post and he just went to bed. Keep in mind that most of the staff is based in Europe and covering smash means we have to stay up past midnight.
      Next time we’ll surely update if there has happened something. Next week is an X&Y special and that’s when we’ll do our regular live coverage again!

    • I know Spanish and he says,”I’m going to be kind and tell you that Scizor is one of the other Pokemon getting a Mega Evolution, although a lot more Pokemon are going to get Mega forms.”

      • Yeah, but Scizor is one of the most dangerous Pokemon in the game, so the thought of it getting on is scary for some. Though… It’s so dangerous because of it’s Technician Ability, combined with Bullet punch. There is always a chance it may not carry Technician as a Mega. *wonder if there is something WORSE they could put on it instead then*

    • Dude, Hiro doesn’t have any firetrucking info about this Gen.. Melkor, I think, already said the only thing Hiro knew was the Fairy-type, as well as Xerneas, Yveltal, and Sylveon’s types. He’s riding in the coattails of his previous fame.

      By the way, the wording I saw about Hiro not knowing anything was he “doesn’t know anything other than what he already released”, which I’ve read some months ago, and one of the info he released along with Xerneas, Yveltal, and Sylveon’s types, if I remember well, was Clefairy becoming Fairy, so it’s possible he really knows about this one info. Other than that, I doubt he has any other real info.

      • But he does, he said he saved some crucial stuff before he was officially taken down a few months back. He still has a lot of info, and him and Melkor aren’t releasing the dex this year after talking about it for a while, but he said on Ask that he’s thinking about throwing out the last pieces of info he has.

  52. Hey guys! Just wondering, which Pokemon are you guys gonna have in your team? I’ve already taken 3 spots on my team for Chespin, Malamar and Sylveon. Six slots are just not enough anymore.. Hahaha xD

    • Hard question… I want the majority of them, but I’m choosing Fennekin (Unless its evolutions are Fire-Fighting, then I’m choosing Chespin). I want Malamar and Sylveon for sure, but IDK about the rest (Flabebe, Gogoat, and Helioptile are definitely contenders) … God why did GF have to make it so hard…

      • Yup. I was thinking of the distributed Torchic as well.. And Absol’s mega evolution just makes me wanna have it. But I dislike having 2 pokemon of the same type on my team so.. Yeah. I’m just gonna have to live with it haha xD

        • I also hate having two of the same type on my team, I try to avoid it as much as I can, but I don’t think I’ll be able to for this gen. And I completely forgot about the Event Torchic.

        • Honestly speaking, I never really cared for competitive battling when going through a story. IMO I just play the game and try to complete it 100%. Otherwise my competitive teams come after all that 😉 No offense though.

    • I take always my starter and the signature legend in my team. Only Xerneas im sure of on this moment. It depends on there final evolutions or maybe there will be even better designed pokemon that we don’t know for now.

    “Good evening /vp/, I have some news for you involving multiple New Pokemon that I have learned about due to my job, which, to sum it up, involves setting up promotional displays for Nintendo at various Events, in this case I have learned that, in addition to the demo being featured at Gamescon in Germany and the “Pokemon Game Show” in Japan, the US will be receiving a special demo stand at various locales throughout the country in late August. I have seen a bit of the promotional material, and featured on them are six New Pokemon, ones of which I believe appear within the demo in some capacity, although I am not sure what the demo will consist of entirely. All that is displayed on the material I’ve seen is pictures of them, and their names.

    – Ameblob: It’s a weird snail creature that’s made up of transparent, blue liquid and it has a large eyeball suspended where its “head” would be within the liquid. It reminds me of a Zelda Boss.
    – Dynastag: A black beetle with a red and yellow shield-shaped shell and pointy horn. Unlike Heracross and Pinsir, it’s on six legs.
    – Zeezes : I guess this is supposed to be a pre-evolution of Noivern, it’s a small black fruit bat that’s “sleeping” as its wings are wrapped around it like a blanket, and it has a cute little “red-hat” over its face and ears that resembles Noivern’s nose.
    – Mega Scizor: Its wings are larger, and it’s got a more sleeker form, with a “V”-shaped head, and its hips are pyramid shaped and pointy, like a stylish mecha. Its abdomen is entirely black.
    – Mega Gyrados: It’s got a full-on shaggy beard, and tiny arms coming from the front sides of its body. It also has pairs of white fins, instead of just one row, that are more wing-like running down its back. Looks like a Chinese Dragon.
    – Mega Druddigon: Its whole body turns bright red, bar its yellow stomach, and its spikes grow larger. Its wings move to its elbows, and it seems to wield them like scythes or swords judging by its pose.”
    He then, in the topic, sketched quick pictures of them in paint too. I don’t believe this in full, but I found it an interesting rumor that comes from a source I could expect a leak from.

    • ….. Mega Gyarados grows a beard?

      That image alone would be worth seeing XD. Fun rumor nevertheless, probably not real, but nothing about it seems too impossible. Ameblob sounds a bit suspect though. Anyways, if they are going to have demos here in America like that, demo stands or whatever, I’d imagine Pokemon would start promoting that sooner rather than later.

        • Yeah. But just thinking of GYARADOS with a beard. Particularly due to it’s fairly short snout, and chinese dragons also tend to have elongated faces too, with the beard stretching over their lower jaw. Gyarados face isn’t structured like theirs normally, and that’s why the image looks weird to me.

      • you don’t have to believe it 100%. i always give rumours what we call in Spain “the benefit of the doubt”, which is when you say “take it with a grain of salt” (except for that “bag of potato chips” pokemon, i called it directly fake). i like those rumours (and i would like to see that MegaScizor) but i keep in mind that they may be false. they end up being true? great! they end up being fake? well, at least they were interesting, xD!
        and about Ameblob, someone before said that we already have Muk so it sounds suspicious to have other slime pokemon, but we already “repeated ideas”. we have horsea and skrelp, and corpish and clauncher. if they are different, they can use the same base idea

    • Dedenne seems like there is something fishy here. Mega Scizor would be nice. Gyarados? I don’t think that’s neccesary. Druddigon– HELL YES.
      The others, not so sure, but may turn out to be real overall.

      • At least with a Mega Gyarados there is reason enough so it can change to a Water/Dragon type. I’d think it would be more ‘necessary’ than Scizor, who would likely remain Bug/Steel. Though, there are definitely other Megas I’d want announced first. Mega Lapras, for instance. I just really want to see that to be one, for whatever reason.

          • At the least, Druddigon would be nice. See, I think more powerful Pokemon will get them, but seeing lesser ones, like Kangaskhan today, Mawile, I’m more interested in those. Just as kind of a reassurance, really.

          • Yes, I completely agree. I’m also interested in those weaker Pokemon. Sableye? Seviper? Zangoose? Castform? Jynx? Etc.

          • Well, it has a Hail form, so no need for snow. Fog I think actually just powers up Weather ball as a powerful normal attack, so I don’t know if that would be one, but standstorm, yeah, I have no idea why it never had that.

          • i think it’s because a sandstorm is not a meteorological event. when it’s sunny, Castform changes. when it’s raining, it changes and when it’s snowing it also changes. but a sandstorm is not like rain or snow, it’s just strong wind with lots of sand. it could have one form for it, but i think there is a reason because it doesn’t have one.

          • Seviper and Zangoose a million times over. The accompanying image of them fighting is too great not to have it.

    • This description of Mega Gyarados makes me think of Trogdor. I know asiatic dragons have front paws, but that sounds like it would look entirely stupid, so I’m very skeptical of this.

      …That, and slime monsters are waaaay too overdone to be used in pokemon, IMO. We already have Muk, a random blue slime monster seems not only superfluous, but too referential to standard mons of other games.

    • Well, I don’t know if they will do that for this game. This game is more of a tool to get more people to buy 3DS for Nintendo Company. So it’s really up to GF, and if the company believes it is a smart move. Though, for those who have not been involved with the series in the past few generations might give it a whirl, and decide to purchase the game. So, wynaut? Though, I don’t entirely, if remotely know what costs are to simply make a demo available.

        • Yeah, I had seen these too. I’ve been trying to think what all colors we’ll see for them. White and Black/Dark Blue for Absol? Yellow White for Ampharos? Purple and Whatever kind of white you call that on Mewtwo? Actually also I think the outside of the stone will be a different color too, if you go to the website itself for clearer colors, Blazikenite has a red and black DNA core with a silver outside, while Lucarionite looks like it has a yellow, or gold outside the red and blue. This may see inconsequential, but it’s worth noting that each one of these will need to look somewhat distinct color wise, so that in of itself may be a sign of what limit we will be getting to the Mega Evolutions.

    Dedenne+Cheek Pouch+Sitrus Berry+Recycle = HEALING MACHINE 8D
    Along With Nuzzle.. Dedenne can Atk/Paralyze and Super Heal! Take on Dragons and I will give it another Stronger electric type atk, I hope they have a fast fairy attack like quick atk it can learn.

    -Draconeon (Dragon) – Dragon type Eeveelution
    -Armorex (Ghost/Steel) – Honedge Evolution
    -Sparzooka (Water/Electric) – Clauncher Evolution
    -Skreltxic (Posion/Water) – Skrelp Evolution
    -Helrator (Electric) – Helioptile Evolution (2nd Stage)
    -Solagama (Electric/Dragon) – Helioptile Evolution (Final Stage)

  67. Can you not post a summary video of Smash? The X&Y parts, as well as anime preview? Would make for better viewing… It’s as bad as just being told about the Doctor Who 50th trailer, yet not being able to see it.

    • It’s posted for the people who are unable to watch the video/stream. It’s something PJ always does and if you don’t want to see the information contained in the article, then don’t read it.

  68. They showed another trailer at Worlds, this time it showed off Mega MAwile, Mega Absol, and Mega Ampharos, and some info on the distribution Torchic

    Cool thing I noticed was that when Torchic is idle on the summary screen, it ran around the screen and tried to fly

      • I read it. The only one I hadn’t heard was the one about Cubone. Why would a child want to decapitate, skin, and gut it’s own mother’s head and wear the skull? I always knew it was a Marowak’s skull, but I never thought about how Cubone would obtain it. ;(

        • Yeah I just take it all as Folk Lore.. The people at GF are twisted but Im happier when I pretend it was all just a story passed down through the generations to kids in the Pokémon universe =]

  71. Staff, I have two questions:
    Any word on Hiro’s MegaScizor leak?
    Hiro and Pokexperto leaked the BW Pokedex back in 2010 before the game’s original release date, so aren’t they gonna do that now? There are two months left before the games, so aren’t they gonna spoil us majorly sometime?

  76. Hm*looking at the descriptions* Well, Mega Mawile is doing what I expected, its defense and special defense go extremely high. I figured it would do this because Huge Power will more than compensate for it’s attack, so raising that any higher would make it ridiculously high. Though… I’m reading Mega Absol’s. And one of the descriptions is curious.

    “With Mega Absol’s increased Speed, the Night Slash move with its High Critical-Hit chances becomes even more potent.”

    I know in Generation 1, a high speed meant critical hits were more likely to happen. But I could’ve sworn that was removed… meaning… are they putting that back in?

  77. All the Megamon are shown battling other pokemon that can Mega-evolve with only a few deviations- Gyarados, Hydreigon, etc. does this mean the pokemon like Gyarados and Hydreigon may receive Mega-evolutions?

    • Well, I think there is a chance. Hydreigon and Gyarados are some really badass Pokemon, like Blaziken and Mewtwo, They are great in battling and overall, I can see them getting a Mega-evolution. Gyarados most likely than ever, because it looks incomplete. Hydreigon may get one, but I won’t count on it. They seem like Pokemon that will get Mega-Evolutions, anc cahnces in my opinion are quite high. Hell, if they gave Kangaskhan one, why not? 😀

    • If Gyarados is going to have a Mega Evolution, so should Milotic, due to both evolving from weak fish and same base stat (though their offensive stats are switched), though Gyarados destroys and Milotic becalms.

      Also, I see potential Fairy-typing in Milotic (that and Gyarados has dual types while Milotic has one), so if they add Fairy-type, I’m ok with it.

      • plus, if they took the initiative to retype Gyarados to Water/Dragon for it’s Mega form, Milotic being Water/Fairy would be a fantastic contrast for the two.

  79. Man the art in this Game is Amazing it looks Just like the anime in the Battles.. I hope by the time We Get a HD 3DS the anime will take a step forward so the games designs will improve even more also.. No more pretending that my Pokémon is doing something super awesome when I press the Atk button.. Now I can Actually see it… OCTOBER CANT COME FAST ENOUGH…. I have never been This Hype for a Pokémon game before… ( 0_0 )

  81. You know how most Everyone disses Ash for his battling style and say he is week.. but what if Pokémon battles in his world are all well.. difficult.. I mean what if Every battle was like a competitive Wifi battle… Anything could happen and in that world EV training would take up a TON more time and Breeding would be left for specialist likely also.. Finding legendary’s and exploring a Region would Take A Lot More Time… Maybe the show creators are thinking on a more Realistic level..

  83. I think ths articule quickly sums up and effectively Why Digimon failed.. without being a hater… the writer said the truth.. Digimon is still around though to some degree with a new game coming out I will play
