PokéTap

Seems I’m the first site to cover it, but the ‘PokéTap’ (the name you see on your homescreen) app has been released on the Japanese App Store! Picture above is straight from my iPhone, obviously I chose Leavanny 🙂

Unfortunately, it is very simple and not a complex rhythm game. Pokemon cards show at the bottom as the Japanese pokerap for the 5th Gen plays and you tap energy symbols that scroll on the top. Certain breaks give you a chance to tap energy symbols that are floating down (91 of ’em!). There are ranking boards and you’re scored with a letter grade, D-A. You can choose an avatar from about 20 pokemon (monmen for me! Forgot English name, cottonee?).

  1. Yes, it is Cottonee…. doesn’t sound at all interesting for people who have never played the TGC and are not interested in playing Pokemon if your’e not catching & battling!

  2. Hm..it seems like the kind of game you’d download at first and play for a good while…but , then completely forget about. If I had a phone with internet I’m not gonna lie, I probably would want to buy it, just for my love of Pokemon..but then get bored after a short while haha. X)
