These reference sheets are similar to the leaked final evolutions of Alola’s starters and have both the correct art style and quality of design. Easily the most believable “leaks” so far. I feel the same way about these as I did when the Alolan starter evolutions leaked. Still could be fake, but they’re remarkably good for fakes. I for one belive them to be real at this point. Kudos to the creator if they’ve tricked me.
I feel like it’s way too early for a real leak since none of the 7th generation starter Pokémon have evolved yet in the series. Where’s that leaked Incineroar that belongs to Ash? These supposed 8th generation starters look great, but they’re a bit too cute and I feel like that can be looked at as a bit of a red flag. How could anyone even get such clear-ass pictures of these art reference sketches anyway? Unless they Save Image As’d these pics from a computer, these pictures must be fake because they’re too good to be true.

I don’t think you can consider the second iteration ‘basics’. Gen 1 set the precedent for anthropomorphised starters. And Feraligator wasn’t just a quadrapedal croc, either.

Serebii doesn’t have anything for rumours and honestly his website design is literally garbage. He hasn’t updated that since he created the site back in… 2000-whatever.

You know what debunked those CoroCoro scans and the previous concept art leaks? The Japanese. Most of them had awful Japanese.
The only thing odd about this one is front is in different forms on all three (One has it in kanji, one in katakana, and one in hiragana).
Point is, it’s a possibility. Doesn’t make it true, but it’s not false either.
I mean, nobody here is outright saying that these are 100% legit, people enjoy speculating about the rumors and discussing them.
Like it’s a nice way to talk about something Pokemon related while we don’t get any news in the meantime
Some are pretty heavy handed about them being real. I mean sure I like these as much as the next guy, they are freaking adorable, but there is no reason to talk about them as if they could be real when it is obvious that they won’t be real no matter how much people may want them to be, that is not how things work, and in fact now that somebody who doesn’t work for GameFreak made these fakes GameFreak can no longer legally make these into Pokemon.

I used delphox and really ignored the “femininity” of it. My brother used popplio because it is adorable and also fairy type. its so dumb.

Gen 7 is my second favorite gen, but that might be because I love Lillie and the other characters so much and most of the Pokemon I have used were great. I’m just a sucker for a character like Lillie and all three of the starters.

You know, these starters do fit the pattern for the starters that every pokemon game thus far has followed. as with every other pokemon game, the fire type starter is one of the chinese zodiac signs. The water type is also the same as every other water type in that it’s based on an animal that is both aquatic and walks on land. The grass starter can also fit in this rythm, though it’s a bit loose. Every grass starter has been based on some pre-historic animals. Ancient lemurs were common enough that this could be that same format, though I haven’t looked too deeply. Also, the format that these starters are being shown are oddly familiar to the ones seen during the sun and moon hype that actually revealed the final evolutions of the three starter pokemon. Not saying that confirms it, but it does make it rather compelling does it not?
The Grass and Water “patterns” are BS. Especially the grass one. Every type of animal has prehistoric ancestors.
Eh, maybe. But it’s the final evolutions that do usually resemble prehistoric animals. And besides, if you look over it, the water starters all do walk on land at some point of their lifespan.

I love these! I’m torn between the lemur and the platypus . But I know better to get my hopes up but only time will tell!
I’m not convinced (and really no one here should be), but I do have my suspicions, as these do seem to be very Game Freak-esque designs. If they’re fake, which is likely to me, then I’m impressed that the artist was able to clearly match the style.
Regardless, I’ll play along. If these are real, I feel like grass is the one that got screwed this time, which is okay IMO because it’s had a good few recent gens. Not a fan though, so the rotation continues. Torch bunny is adorable, and honestly I’m leaning between that the Platypus. Both of which I think have a possibility of becoming fan favorites. If they’re real, I’d be satisfied. I like 2/3 of the first stages, which is more than Alola had for me (bet you can’t guess which :P).
On the other hand, the piece of the puzzle that makes me doubt this the most is the “drawing” of Ash on the Platypus’ sheet. Although it aligns with the current style the anime is taking, replacing his head with a shape suggests a bit of laziness on behalf of the artist. Though only time will tell, maybe we’ll hear soon.

I know this is a dumb reason to think they’re fake, but I don’t think they initial poses for the starters would have one of them in an action pose. All previous starters have them in more or less static poses and only in 3rd versions and remakes do they get art that has them doing some kind of action. Just saying……

funny enough my problem with the platypus is the opposite problem i have with a lot of pokemon designs in the last few generations. so many of them are really zany and funky-looking, but this guy almost looks *too* normal, too far in the other direction. it’s just a cartoon platypus, only blue.

It’s not the language and it’s not something that is easily singled out. It’s a combination of the art style, the level of quality that went in to the designs themselves, the style of reference poses, the use of uncolored background pieces. It’s an overall collection of elements that feels exactly like previous, proven reference sheets. It’s a level of time and effort that fakers simply don’t put in to their fakes.
Japanese is a hard language, just saying.

Of course a trailer would build hype but TBH rumors make waiting for a trailer easier. Its your own (not yours specifically) issue if you believe that the rumors are to be true and then become disappointed when they aren’t. For all we know Nintendo might make a Direct soon discussing the upcoming Pokémon game and they might reveal the starters. Possible leaks always lead to a trailer. Look at KH3 and how there were images of the Monsters Inc. world before it was even confirmed and they were written off as fake images because of how blurry and out of focus it looked. Lord and behold there’s a Monsters Inc world. Its just a matter of waiting for confirmation and until then these pokemon may be real or they may not be

– The last big leaks were starter concept art leaks that came out MONTHS before even the mid evos. They would NOT let that happen again especially when the images are such high quality.
– Everyone wants to make fake leaks like those now. There are so many concept art leaks. They’re just like Coro Coro scans from back in the day but easier to make because you don’t have to make it look like the worst designed, most eye bleeding magazine in existence. Just draw them in a few poses and add some Japanese text.
– There is no credible leaker backing this up with more information like the Chinese leaker with SuMo.
– The only evidence supporting this is real is the Japanese text. While yes it’s a difficult language, that’s an extremely low bar isn’t it?
– The sugimori style isn’t that hard to emulate. Take two seconds to look online.
I say why the sudden need for evidence because everyone just accepts that these are real without anything to really back it up. But then I’m hateful because I’m the only one not just agreeing with everyone because I want it to be real.

And I’ve always been for evidence regardless of other people. I don’t accept it willy-nilly, heck I;m STILL NEUTRAL about it because it’s an isolated thing and the art style being so easy to copy. And personally, my opinions are not for anyone else, they are for me.
I gave it points for Japanese, but you’re right, friends can help out or they are fluent, but some part of me feels that’s off. I don’t think it’s a low bar at all because that’s an impressive feat for an artist to have but whatever.

I don’t really see it as hate. But in terms of pokemon “leaks” I kinda think everything should be considered fake *until* credible evidence comes along. The Alolan final starters had credible evidence because they featured Mallow, who then was revealed later. There’s nothing to go off of with these so I think a lot of people are getting their hopes up for no reason other than “good Japanese, good art.”

I think considering everything fake until it is officially revealed just dissuades speculative discussion, which is what Pokejungle posts these rumors for. And you say that Mallow’s presence was credible evidence, but not everyone has the same lines of credibility as you. I remember people screaming “Fake! Everyone who believes them is stupid!” all the way up to their official reveal when they suddenly about-faced and always knew they had been real (not on here, mind you, I wasn’t involved with PJ discussions then).
It’s perfectly acceptable to believe they’re fake, but insulting other people just because they don’t share your opinion is not. (Not talking about you here, Ultron, simply past experience)
I’d rather discuss leaks that actually have validity of some sort. We won’t have that until the game is announced.

The issue is that people are jumping on the ship that it’s one or the other way too fast. It’s fine to be hyped and hope that these “leaks” are real, but don’t count on it. Be ready to accept either outcome.
I know not everyone is doing it but the fact that some people are firmly believing that these leaks are 100% real or fake is what the cause of this “hate”.

I suppose I have no more proof than someone saying it’s real, but I’m pretty positive these are fake. Just another person jumping on the bandwagon of releasing “confidential” “leaks”. If these were the first of their kind as far as gen 8 is concerned then sure I’d be on board, but considering we’ve already had people trying to pull this off I’m not convinced. Just because the Japanese is right doesn’t automatically make it real. That said I do like them.

Just try not to let these or any other fakes ruin the real starters for you. Would be a shame if the real ones get revealed and everyone hates them not because they’re bad, but because they just don’t like them as much as these.
Well to be fair, that should say something about the quality of the designs Game Freak is deciding to go with. If a fan is able to produce a better fan reaction from a large number of people than a whole group of designers, then maybe…just maybe…they should go back to the drawing board? Or at least hire the person who made the fakes in the first place?

Notice how these leaks had “Tiger 3, Owl 3, Sea Lion 3” or something like that on their art. Why wouldn’t these ones have Monkey 1, Rabbit 1, and Platypus 1? Maybe because that would make it too obvious it was adapted from those…who knows. However I do feel like “””they””” should have included it. In actuality, I don’t know the reasoning for this at all and there are versions of this art that don’t have the tentative names.

Platypus – Masculine Design – evolves into water/fighting – naval captain
The pokemon is based on a diversity theme, since platypus have traits shared by amphibians, mammals, and birds. The evolution will possess switch blades in its appendages like swiss-army knives. It will resemble a naval fighter who uses mixed-martial arts.
I would have such a tough choice choosing between the water and fire if that happened! Nice ideas!

may I just point out that fake leaks technically aren’t leaks at all. they’re fan art that people try to pass off as leaks. it really bothers me when people refer to fake leaks, rumored leaks and, real leaks as simply “leaks” it gets really confusing when you aren’t always sure which they mean.

I actually like these more than the other “leaked” starters. All three of them look great and would maybe provide some seriously good end evolutions. Kind of shocking that it was the first stages and not the final ones that were leaked though
I have a sneaking suspicion, and just a suspicion mind you, that a few of the most recent “leaks” that turned out to be real were actually released on purpose to generate hype rather than being leaked by someone who wasn’t supposed to have access to the info. Obviously, it’s a great way to get people talking and work up excitment leading up to an official announcement. It is a little interesting that we get “leaks” that only include the starters, or whatever. I personally feel that if someone was going to truly leak, that is reveal information that wasn’t intended to be public yet, we’d get dumps of info about a bunch of random things, whatever they could grab at the time, you know? Or, like you said, we’d get final evolutions even though the first evolutions hadn’t been revealed yet. *shrug* Just a thought, though.
Very rarely are the first stages leaked… usually when they used to introduce the new region GF would have them as a silhouettes in CoroCoro and the middle/final stages would be leaked. Like with gen 5 the middles were the last to be revealed but they were leaked I think 2 weeks or so prior to being confirmed and obviously more recently with gen 7 the end evolutions were leaked months beforehand. Even if they are fake why shoot down the idea that they may possibly be real? It gives us something to talk about when theres nothing to talk about.

I think it’s interesting that so many people point to these and say “These weren’t real, so the new one’s aren’t.” I personally didn’t think these were even remotely real. The references presented are not nearly as detailed or action oriented as legitimate reference sheets and they are laid out in a much different fashion.
I point to these because it’s popular to make concept art leaks now. It’s naive to think something like this would happen again especially with starters involved and with high quality images

I r e a l l y hope they’re real! After seeing how thought through these designs are, they seem to me like real GF designs. The Bear and Coral fakes were great, but these kinda seem even better.
Has no one considered that maybe the person that made these just learned from the last couple of “leaks” in order to make these as believable as possible? We literally got almost believable concept art juts like this less than a month ago. the only difference was the Japanese was iffy in those. This time it’s been fixed. and they’re pretty believable. If we didn’t get the last “leaked” starters then sure I may be less suspicious, but what are the odds that we’d actually get starters leaked like this almost immediately after getting fake ones done in the same kind of leak style?

Not saying they aren’t thought out. I actually really like them a lot. That said it seems too unlikely that we’d coincidentally get fake leaks in the same style as the real ones ended up being. It think people are just jumping on the bandwagon that is “confidential art leaks” just because they’re the most believable right now. At one point we had believable CoroCoro scans, but that didn’t make them all real.
You’re definitely right to be skeptical. They’re really not any more or less believable than any other art we see. Remember that Gladion art for USUM that showed him in aether gear? That sh!t looked spot on and yet it was fake too

Pull up these three images side by side in any order: Decidueye’s reference sheet, the lemur’s sheet, and the grass bear that was rumored a week or so ago. Look at all three of them side-by-side and tell me which one looks most out of place.

I really like looking at possible origins for starter leaks (or their evo), at least until they’re proven fake. I just got something that would fit the Designs of the Grass Lemur and the patterns we have been seeing in Starters the last 2 gens.
So according to the patterns the Grass starter in Gen 8 should become dark type and feminine. The pattern could be broken of course, but, for noe, let’s assume it won’t be. I found some Lemur facts that could back up us getting a Grass/Dark feminine starter in Gen 8.
1. Many stories from Madagascar blame a lot of bad things that happen on Lemurs, making them look like Grim bringers of bad luck. These stories make Villagers hunt and trap Lemurs, or pay hunters to kill the animals. All of that could give the starter a Dark type, either through an evil personality or a lust for revenge.
2. Ida the Lemur is the only found fossil of the prehistoric, extinct Darwinius genus. Ida was a female, she kinda became known in the Animal community for a while. That isn’t that strong of an argument for a Feminine Lemur, but it is something. The genus is a Lemur ancestor, we also should remember that all Grass starters have been based on Extinct animals. Some studies said that Darwinius could be “the missing link”, but many other scientist called that an exaggurated hoax (that could potentially add a Fraud theme to the starter, adding to the dark type).
3. The design looks kinda feminine. That isn’t that big of an argument, but it’s something. Popplio not so much, but Fennekin’s design is obviously suposed to be more feminine. So far I have no idea how the “hides berries in its tail” aspect could be developed in the evo, but I think with what I have right now, I might already be onto something.

Interesting, I’m not sure about those. I wouldn’t think so since they’re ghost type due to being about a legend. There are legends, spirits, and possessed items and those seem to be the main three ways to classify ghost types.
Banette, golurk, trevenant, honedge, driffloon, are all possessed objects in a way.
Decidueye, froslass, shedinja are based more on concepts or legends.
Shuppet, ghastly, duskull, pumpkaboo, misdreavus, all seem to just be spirits that could totally pass through things.
Do you think Ghost pokemon are actually ghosts in the sense that they’re a spirit of a dead being reborn (like the gengar and clefable theory)? Or do you think it’s just a name given to the type because of its qualities?
I would say at least some ghost pokemon are dead beings reborn, like the possessed object ones.
Exactly, I think it depends on the class. The spirit one? Sure. The legend or concept one? No, kinda in the same way that some fairy types are clasified as such because of their connection to irl lore.
And the possessed body class is probably a case by case basis because some, like trevenant are actually dead children, but others are not.
That’s a thought I’ve bounced around a few times, myself. I’d like to think so, but it does seem like pokemon like Decidueye might not necessarily have that capability.

NOW ONTO THE RABBIT (I’m 90% sure this sounds cringy as hell)
Looking at possible origins for the Fire Bunny, I really think it could be the first Fire/Fairy mon! Here is some proof I found!
1. In Asia there’s a pretty popular story about a Rabbit, a Fox and a Monkey (which already have fire starters based on them). In the story an old man beggs the animals for food. The fox and the monkey gather fish and fruit for him, and the Rabbit that doesn’t know how to gather food jumps into a fire so the man can eat it. It turns out the Man was actually the god Śakra, he saved the rabbit and drew a portrait of it on the moon. The legends say the image on the moon is still in smoke from the fire the rabbit threw itself into. The story is obviously related to Fire, but also to the Moon, which is related to the fairy type, as we see through some Fairy moves (tho Tbf Lunala isn’t a fairy type) and the Rabbits good will can be linked to Fairy too. The design of the potential rabbit starter has a smoke theme, just like the rabbit’s portrait according to the story.
2. As many of you know, there’s a mythical creature called Jackalope. Jackalopes are popular mythical creatures, which could be easily linked to fairy type. There was also a fire in the Rincon Mountains called the “Jackalope Fire”
Well, if he’s being honest and not attention grabbing, then kudos to him. Also, he spent waaaaaay too much time on these for “just a laugh.” 😉

After a lot of laughter, I think the game can end.
In short, I am the author of the leaks that have made such a sensation lately. I’ve been working there for quite some time, and I got a helping hand from a Japanese friend of mine for the writings that have been so much discussed.
It was a lot of fun, initially I did not think it would have had so much relevance, then I saw it explode on YouTube, Twitter, fan art, meme, even Rule34 and I could not believe it.
I apologize to those who believed and hoped that they were true, and I congratulate those who have not been convinced and pointed out in a more or less edgy.

They’re just like Coro Coro scans from back in the day but easier to make because you don’t have to make it look like the worst designed, most eye bleeding magazine in existence. Just draw them in a few poses and add some Japanese text.
– There is no credible leaker backing this up with more information like the Chinese leaker with SuMo.
– The only evidence supporting this is real is the Japanese text. While yes it’s a difficult language, that’s an extremely low bar isn’t it?
– The sugimori style isn’t that hard to emulate. Take two seconds to look online.

I understand, it’s just strange to deligate a pattern to one starter type and not to the others.
And that doesn’t really matter anyway because a time will come, if they are doing the pattern, where they will have covered all the zodiac animals.
Grass types have all been extinct animals and Water-types have all been amphibious animals/animals capable of movement on land and in water. Yes, the Zodiac will run out at some point, but 12 Gens is longer than 4.
I feel the pattern fits well enough that it’s not unreasonable to imagine this is the theme for determining Fire starters. Some might quibble with Delphox and Typhlosion standing in for dog and mouse respectively, but foxes are canids and I’ve heard that the Chinese character or characters for rodents applies also to weasels and other mustelids. I guess if the next Fire starter is either a snake, a sheep/ram, a rabbit, a horse, or an ox/bison, it will add more fuel to the… well, you know.

Speculation is fun when you refrain from over-investing in the legitimacy of your opinions. Personally I love all the theory crafting that goes in to imagining what the next generation will bring and leaks like the above are impressive if only for the degree of work that goes into them. Nope. I did soft reset for a shiny Virizion for six months ( I have horrible RNG luck). It’s the only shiny legend I’ve found so far.

Oh, looks like alot of comments weren’t showing up for me again. After exiting and coming back I now see the arguments. I think they should be put to rest now. They seem to stem from everyones’ need to be right, whichever side they are on. If we all did as I believe we should and remain cautious about all rumours instead of automatically fully investing in them being real or outright fake and just calmly discussed them as designs and possibilities we’d all have an easier and more pleasant time. Attacking others, especially on a personal level, for their opinions either way is unnecessary.

It just occurred to me that the grass lemur and fire rabbit both have a light tan body. GF would never do that. No two Starter Pokémon of the same region have had the same body colour.

It was also kinda weird that platypus was so blue. Starters generally have more than one color in their bodies, or at least eyes that contrast the color.

The main thing that gets me is the fact his art prior to today is nowhere near the quality of the leaks. It’s just a red flag in my eyes.
I’m actually still so sad about these leaks being fake. I thought the sadness would pass more quickly but it’s really not. One thing that is certain is, the standards for leaks have just gone WAY up. That means perhaps we’ll see less of this in the future…doubtful though.

And it’s too frail with its type leaving it open to many Pokémon that can out speed and hit hard enough to faint it or get it lower than 50%
Even neutral priority can be a problem for it, let alone a Bullet Punch from anything with remotely decent attack. I still like alot based on its’ appearance and basis though.

Well it was a fun ride with the starters. I always enjoy it when we have possible leaks. Although this is the one time I think I am genuinely upset about them being fake. Really loved this group. Hopefully gamefreak does something just as good if not better! Please gamefreak give us a platypus starter one day! It has so much potential!

It’s not that we need a new game necessarily, it’s that Gamefreak failed on every level with USUM. People were done with it like less than a month after release. It had no lasting appeal to hold us over into the Switch game.

Top 3 Types and 4 attacks of said type you wish you could preform in real life
Ground: Earthquake to generate tremors, Drill Run to charge into stuff, Dig to burrow, Bone Rush to generate a weapon
Fighting: Hammer Arm for heavy damage, Bulk Up to get swole, Drain Punch to heal myself, Counter to retaliate
Rock: Rock Wrecker/Rock Blast to deal damage at a range, Rollout to curl into a boulder, Head Smash self explanatory, I can’t decide if I want Stealth Rock or Stone edge for a trap or a Earthen spike attack
I’m probably not gonna do 4 attacks for each but here it goes:

I think the anime makes me like Torracat a little more than I do now from the games. I’ve never been a huge fan of its offical art and the game makes it a tiny bit better, but it’s never been my fav. Yeah. Visually, I thought it was gorgeous and it had gorgeous music. The villain was well done for sure. Loved how he just broke when his masculinity was challenged. And the scene where she signed “f*ck you” to him was golden. I really liked Octavia Spencer and Richard Jenkins. Sally Hawkins did great too.
But the story..while it was good, I thought it was kind of expected. Too beauty and beast for me. And the bestiality was too much. I honestly thought the movie would’ve been better if they just developed a strong and loving platonic relationship, but I’m ace so maybe I’m biased.
So it had really strong parts, but the love aspect of it just kind of didn’t work for me.
Yeah it was predictable but I still enjoyed it. The sexual stuff in general I didn’t feel necessary and I found it odd that Elisas’ friends just accept she’s having sex with the creature. Also I was left wondering what possible life they could now have, I mean he’ll be fine since he’s made for that life but what’s she gonna do?

I guess it is to sense and detect your lip and tongue movements. With that you can have act with an AI based on your movements or in a VR environment. On top of that, If I’m not wrong it should also have a recipient where your movements are mimicked by another piece so that two players can have act no matter how distanced they are.

Ok, i read back my reply to star that i posted yesterday and i saw below that she left so I would just like to address some things. First of all, I am not here to make an enemy out of anyone, but somehow I feel like this always ends up being the case every time I decide to come back and post here on the main site. The reason I posted a reply to her was because I felt like the day before she was targeting me to the point where I was defensive for some reason and got no explanation. I feel like I went all out in that post to her and I regret it. I should’ve just kept my opinion to myself. I offended her posting by saying that people should talk about the fake pokemon however they want but in doing so I was not allowing her to post her opinion and what she thinks. And I am truly sorry for this. I think I have been the person who always expresses unpopular opinion as many of you know considering I expressed a big disapproval of sun and moon and USUM as well as those who really want gen 4 remakes to the point where they spam it online. I have expressed this a lot here and the truth is, I was in the same boat as star. I think a lot of things we shared a common opinion on. Once again, I am not here to make enemies and I’m not here to shut down anything anyone else has to say. I am sorry for my negativity. I can say that I will probably not show up here anymore. I might lurk but I will not be posting anymore. For those who don’t know, I haven’t posted in the discord server in over a month for reasons both irl and the fact that I feel like I have had enough of the nonsense.
