Pokémon Sword & Shield: Detailed Milcery evolution guide for all Alcremie forms

One of the first Pokémon to be introduced, Alcremie captured the hearts of the fans because of its sweet appearance. This Fairy-type Pokémon boasts a Gigantamax form along with its 63 different color combinations. Getting a specific one of those 63 is a bit tricky, but with this step-by-step guide, Alcremie might be one of your reliable partners in Galar.

Where to find Milcery in Pokémon Sword & Shield

Consider Alcremie a creamy dessert; you need to create and cook it before enjoying it. In every treat, we have the main ingredient. In this case, we have its pre-evolution Milcery. They can be found pretty early in the game—before challenging the first Gym Leader, Milo. In Route 4, just before going to Turrfield, there are grassy areas in which you can forage for your milky Milcery delight.

Milcery location in Pokémon Sword & Shield

Milcery does not appear overworld. It hides in the patches of grass with a fair chance of 20% encounter at any time of the day.

An adorable, but angry, Milcery appears!

They are around level 13-15 and are kind of weak, so be careful when dealing damage to one. It has the ability Sweet Veil, which prevents itself and its ally from falling asleep; perfect for support during double battles.

Where to find Sweets in Pokémon Sword & Shield

You may now be wondering how Milcery will evolve into Alcremie. It needs to be sweeter to evolve. And with that, we need Sweet Items. These sweets are scattered in Battle Cafés of the three big cities of Galar. The earliest accessible is the one found in Motostoke. The next one is in Hammerlocke. And lastly, in Wyndon.

You must battle the café owner to get a chance to win any of these sweets. Battle the owner in double battle. In all three cities, prepare your fairy slayers with Steel-type and Poison-type moves. Do not bother to put your enemy to sleep as Milcery and Alcremie’s ability hinder sleep-inducing moves useless.

Hammerlocke Battle Café

Wyndon Battle Café

Battle Café rewards

The sweet promise of reward will range from regional treats such as Lumiose Galette and Pewter Crunchies. Each day, you can battle the owners to get more sweet items. Only one battle per day is allowed, that’s why if you want to collect all Alcremie variants, you must be ready to go to their café every day. Quite a marketing strategy.

These are the items that are needed to evolve Milcery into Alcremie and the ones you’ll be looking for:

  • Strawberry Sweet
  • Berry Sweet
  • Love Sweet
  • Star Sweet
  • Clover Sweet
  • Flower Sweet
  • Ribbon Sweet

These items become the central accent piece or decoration on top of Alcremie’s head. Just go into your bag and give one to Milcery to hold.

For example, upon evolving Alcremie with the help of Clover Sweet, you will see those small, clover-shaped sweets attached to its head. However, if used with Love Sweet, those will be replaced with small, heart-shaped sweets.

Putting it all together to evolve Milcery

Victory pose

There are three factors that affect the evolution of Milcery. First is the Sweets, which we have hunted a while ago. Next is the time of the day, which we could consider the temperature of how we ‘cook’ Milcery. Then we have our secret cooking method: lots of spinning.

A side note on how time exists in Sword and Shield. The storyline has its own time, thus making it Daytime almost every time. However, Wild Area may look like it has its pocket dimension. As far as we know, Nighttime runs from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM. Remember to evolve your Alcremie or any time-based evolution in Wild Area.

The final step is to perform the secret ritual of striking the Victory Pose by spinning around. Ready your Milcery holding your favorite sweet item as they will experience the swirling of their life. Save your game before evolving your Alcremie, as you might not like how your sweet baby turns out.

By rotating your joystick fast, you can perform a spin before ending it with a Victory Pose. You can hold the joystick to maintain the spin indefinitely.

How to determine the cream color

Alcremie’s Sweet Item determines its decorations, but the way in which it is “mixed” determines the color of its cream, or general body color. Here is how to get each color:

  • Vanilla Cream (left): Spin clockwise quickly during the day
  • Ruby Cream (middle): Spin counterclockwise quickly in the day.
  • Matcha Cream (right): Spin clockwise quickly at night.
  • Mint Cream (left): Spin counterclockwise for more than 5 seconds at night.
  • Lemon Cream (middle): Spin clockwise for more than 5 seconds at night.
  • Salted Cream (right): Spin counterclockwise quickly at night.
  • Ruby Swirl (left): Spin counterclockwise for over 5 seconds in the day.
  • Caramel Swirl (middle): Spin clockwise for over 5 seconds in the day.
  • Rainbow Swirl (right): Spin counterclockwise for over 10 seconds at dusk, which is 7PM in-game.

7 Bonus Alcremie Forms

To get all Alcremie forms, you’ll also have to catch several shiny Milcerys.

You can then attach the decoration you want and evolve it. The shiny Alcremie only has one color variation, so only the decoration will be affected by the evolution method.

Now you should be able to create any Alcremie you want! Happy cooking!
