Pokémon Sword & Shield: Detailed Location Guide for all TMs

Pokemon TMs have been around ever since the original games released, and Pokemon Sword and Shield are no exception. These items have been a vital part of the games in order to customize your Pokemon’s moveset. Below is a complete listing of where and how to get every single TM in these games.

TM00 – Mega Punch

Sold for $10,000 inside the eastern Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM01 – Mega Kick

Sold for $40,000 inside the eastern Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM02 – Payday

Head to the second floor of Motostoke. Go towards the Budew Drop Inn. Next to it, there’s a warehouse with a Lapras logo on its door. In front of the warehouse, there’s an alley. Go straight into the alley until you reach a set of stairs, and keep heading downstairs until you reach the bottom floor. On the bottom floor, there’s a yellow Pokeball. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM02.

TM03 – Fire Punch

Sold for $50,000 inside the Pokemon Center located next to the Wyndon Stadium.

TM04 – Ice Punch

Sold for $50,000 inside the Pokemon Center located next to the Wyndon Stadium.

TM05 – Thunder Punch

Sold for $50,000 inside the Pokemon Center located next to the Wyndon Stadium.

TM06 – Fly

Head to Stow-on-Side, and head towards the stairs that lead to the stadium. Just before reaching the stairs, there is a house with an emerald-colored door next to the stairs. Enter the house, and talk to the old pilot who should give you TM06.

TM07 – Pin Missile

Head towards Route 04. Just before reaching Turffield, there’s a small garden on the right side protected by a concrete enclosure. Get inside the garden, and head towards the right side until you see a yellow Pokeball. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM07.

TM08 – Hyper Beam

Sold for $50,000 inside the Pokemon Center located next to the Wyndon Stadium.

TM09 – Giga Impact

Sold for $50,000 inside the Pokemon Center located next to the Wyndon Stadium.

TM10 – Magical Leaf

Given to you after beating the Grass Stadium in Turffield.

TM11 – Solar Beam

In order to reach this TM, you’ll need the bicycle upgrade, which allows you to travel on water. If you have the upgrade then head to the Turffield’s Pokemon Center. Once you reach there, go to the right side until you reach a cross intersection just before reaching the bridge. In front of you, there should be a pillar. Head towards the pillar, and there should be a small body of water. Get on your bicycle and onto the body of water. Start heading towards the prey in the back. Once you reach the prey, there should be a yellow Pokeball next to it on top of a small patch of dirt. Pick up the Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM11.

TM12 – Solar Blade

Sold for $50,000 inside the Pokemon Center located next to the Wyndon Stadium.

TM13 – Fire Spin

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM14 – Thunder Wave

Head towards the Bridge Field’s Pokemon Nursery. Once you reach there, talk to the man to the left of the Pokemon Nursery. Once you interact with him, choose “The Rotom Rally!”. After that, choose “East Lake Axewell.” Once you start the rally, all you have to do is follow and touch the balloons. Once you’re done with the rally, you should have acquired TM14.

TM15 – Dig

Head towards the campsite in Route 06. Once you arrive at the campsite, there should be a yellow Pokeball right next to it. Pick up the Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM15.

TM16 – Screech

Head towards the Pokeball-shaped fountain in Circhester. After arriving there, enter the right building which is known as the right branch of Hotel Ionia. Once you’ve entered, head towards the elevator, which is going to take you to the second floor. After arriving on the second floor, head towards the right, and enter the first room. Inside of the room, there will be a mountain climber. Talk to her, and you should acquire TM16.

TM17 – Light Screen

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center on the second floor of Motostoke.

TM18 – Reflect

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center on the second floor of Motostoke.

TM19 – Safeguard

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center on the second floor of Motostoke.

TM20 – Self-Destruct

Sold for $100,000 inside the Wyndon’s Battle Tower.

TM21 – Rest

Head towards Ballonlea’s Stadium. Before reaching the path that leads you to the stadium’s door, take the path on the right side. Walk until you see a set of tall mushrooms with a Chinchou on top of it. There should be a yellow Pokeball in front of the mushrooms. Pick up the Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM21.

TM22 – Rock Slide

In order to reach this TM, you’ll need the bicycle upgrade, which allows you to travel on water. If you have the upgrade, head to Route 09 Circhester’s bay entrance. Once you’ve gotten there, get on your bike and head to the left until you see a small beach with a yellow Pokeball on top of its shore. Pick up the Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM22.

TM23 – Thief

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM24 – Snore

Head towards Ballonlea, and take the path towards Glimmwood Tangle. Keep going straight until you see three different paths: one to the left, one in front of you, and one to the right. Take the one to the left, and you should see a well-dressed lady. In front of her, there should be a place that you can hop down to. Hop down, and you should see a yellow Pokeball by you. Pick up the yellow Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM24.

TM25 – Protect

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center on the second floor of Motostoke.

TM26 – Scary Face

Head towards Galar Mine No. 1. Once you’re inside of the mine, start following the trail until you see a female NPC wearing a security helmet. Take the path right next to the NPC. At the end of the passage, you’ll see a yellow Pokeball. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM26.

TM27 – Icy Wind

The way of acquiring this TM will differ depending on which version you own. If you own Pokemon Shield, you’ll receive it after beating the Ice Stadium in Circhester. If you own Pokemon Sword, head to the Circhester’s Pokemon Center. Once you’re at the Pokemon Center, turn upwards and enter the first house to the left. Afterwards, talk to the red-haired guy inside the house, and he’ll hand you TM27.

TM28 – Giga Drain

Sold for $100,000 inside the Wyndon’s Battle Tower.

TM29 – Charm

Head towards the western Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke. After reaching there, go to the left where there’ll be a building with a dragon logo on top of the doors. Enter the building, and take the stairs on the left side. After that, walk downwards, and take the stairs on the right. Keep going straight until you reach the end of the corridor. Check the corner, and you should have acquired TM29.

TM30 – Steel Wing

Head towards the Stow-on-Side’s Pokemon Center. After that, go towards the right, which should lead you to Route 06, and keep going straight until you see a ladder tothe east. Take the ladder down, and leap downwards until you see a ladder. Right next to the ladder, there’s another small hill where you can leap downwards. Leap downwards, and take the path to the left, where you’ll find a yellow Pokeball. Pick up the pokeball, and you should have acquired TM30.

TM31 – Attract

Head to the Pokemon Nursery on Route 05. Once you’re there, take the path in front of it, and keep going straight. You’ll eventually come across a patch of grass. Proceed to cross it, and once you’ve crossed, go right. You’ll see a yellow Pokeball behind a rock. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM31.

TM32 – Sandstorm

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM33 – Rain Dance

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM34 – Sunny Day

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM35 – Hail

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM36 – Whirlpool

Given to you after beating the Water Stadium in Hulbury.

TM37 – Beat Up

Head towards the Campsite on Route 03. After reaching there, keep heading right. You’ll eventually find a path that leads either to the upper right or to the lower right. Take the lower-right one. Keep going straight until you see a yellow pokeball in front of a berry tree. Pick up the pokeball and you should’ve acquired TM37.

TM38 – Will-O-Wisp

Given to you after beating the Fire Stadium in Motostoke.

TM39 – Facade

Head towards the Motostoke Riverbank’s bridge in the wild area. Afterwards, head diagonally left towards a tree, which is behind a big grey tube. Once you’ve reached the tree, look at the left side, and you should see a berry tree. Head towards it. In front of the berry tree, you’ll see a set of three tubes with a yellow by them. Pick up the yellow Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM39.

TM40 – Swift

You’ll get this TM through story progression. Hop will give it to you when both of you leave Wedgehurst through the station.

TM41 – Helping Hand

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center on the second floor of Motostoke.

TM42 – Revenge

The way of acquiring this TM will differ depending on which version you own. If you own Pokemon Sword, you’ll receive it after beating the Fighting Stadium in Stow-on-Side. If you own Pokemon Shield, head to Ballonlea. You will arrive at the Pokemon center, then head left and enter the second house just before reaching the Stadium. Once you’re inside the house, talk to the lady inside of it, and she should give you TM42.

TM43 – Brick Break

Head to the campsite on Route 08. Once you’re there, go to the left, and go down the hill until you find a ladder. Before reaching the ladder, head to the left, and you’ll find a yellow Pokeball at the end of the short path. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM43.

TM44 – Imprison

Sold for $100,000 inside the Wyndon’s Battle Tower.

TM45 – Dive

In order to reach this TM, you’ll need the bicycle upgrade, which allows you to travel on water. If you have the upgrade, head to the campsite on Route 09 Circhester’s Bay. Once you’ve reached there, head to the left of the karate expert NPC. Once you reach the shore, hop on your bike and head straight left until you come across a small beach with two NPCs on it. Talk to the woman next to the umbrellas, and you should have acquired TM45.

TM46 – Weather Ball

Sold for $30,000 inside the eastern Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM47 – Fake Tears

Head towards the Pokeball-shaped fountain in Circhester. After arriving there, enter the right building, which is known as the right branch of Hotel Ionia. Once you’ve entered, head towards the elevator, which is going to take you to the second floor. After arriving on the second floor, head towards the right, and enter the room at the end of the hall. Inside the room, talk to the guy with yellow glasses, and you should have acquired TM16.

TM48 – Rock Tomb

The way of acquiring the TM will differ depending on which version you own. If you own Pokemon Sword, you’ll receive it after beating the Rock Stadium in Circhester. If you own Pokemon Shield, head to the Circhester’s Pokemon Center. Once you’re at the Pokemon Center, turn upwards and enter the first house to the left. Afterwards, talk to the red-haired guy inside the house. Here, you should have acquired TM48.

TM49 – Sand Tomb

Head towards Galar Mine No. 2. Once you’re inside the mine, head towards the exit which leads to Motostoke. Before reaching the exit, there’s an NPC with black pants and a red tie. Next to him, there’s a yellow Pokeball. Pick up the Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM49.

TM50 – Bullet Seed

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM51 – Icicle Spear

Head to Circhester’s Pokemon Center. Once you’re at the Pokemon center, head to the right, where there should be a Pokeball filled with water. In front of it, there’s a building which is called the Circhester Bath. Head towards it, and inside of the bath, head to the right until you see a yellow Pokeball. Pick up the Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM51.

TM52 – Bounce

Sold for $100,000 inside the Wyndon’s Battle Tower.

TM53 – Mud Shot

In order to reach this TM, you’ll need the bicycle upgrade, which allows you to travel on water. If you have the upgrade, head to Galar Mine No. 2 through the Hulbury entrance. Once you’re inside Galar Mine No. 2, head towards the exit, which will lead you to Motostoke. There’s a narrow passage that you’ll have to walk through which has two ponds next to it. Walk through the passage, and you’ll eventually see an NPC with a blue helmet. Just before the NPC, there’s another narrow passage with two pondsn which you’ll need to cross in order to get the TM. Hop on your bike and cross the ponds. Eventually, you’ll see a yellow Pokeball. Pick up the Pokeball and you should have acquired TM53.

TM54 – Rock Blast

Head towards Galar Mine No.1. Once you’re inside the mine, follow the trail on the left until you stumble across the first path you see on the left, and follow it until you head out of the mine. Once you come out of the mine, you’ll see a yellow Pokeball in front of you. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM54.

TM55 – Brine

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM56 – U-Turn

Head towards Ballonlea, and take the path towards Glimmwood Tangle. Keep going straight until you see three different paths: one to the left, one in front of you, and one to the right. Take the one to the left, and you should see a well-dressed lady. There’s a hidden path in front of the lady. Start heading left in front of her until you find a path. Follow said path, and by the end of it, you’ll find a yellow Pokeball. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM56.

TM57 – Payback

Head towards professor Magnolia’s house. To the right of it, you’ll see a path. Follow said path, and it should lead you to behind her house. Once you’re behind it, you should see a yellow Pokeball. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM57.

TM58 – Assurance

Head towards the campsite on Route 07. Once you reach there, look at the right side, and you should see a yellow Pokeball tucked behind a couple of rocks just by the well-dressed NPC. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM58.

TM59 – Fling

Sold for $100,000 inside the Wyndon’s Battle Tower.

TM60 – Power Swap

Sold for $30,000 inside the Pokemon Center located next to the Wyndon Stadium.

TM61 – Guard Swap

Sold for $30,000 inside the Pokemon Center located next to the Wyndon Stadium.

TM62 – Speed Swap

Sold for $30,000 inside the Pokemon Center located next to the Wyndon Stadium.

TM63 – Drain Punch

Sold for $50,000 inside the Pokemon Center located next to the Wyndon Stadium.

TM64 – Avalanche

In order to reach this TM, you’ll need the bicycle upgrade, which allows you to travel on water. If you have the upgrade, head towards Circhester, and take the path which leads you to Route 09. Once you reach Route 09’s entrance, keep going straight until you pass the bridge. Once you pass the bridge, you should see a path, which leads to a river on the left side. Hop on your bike and get on the river. Start going left until you see a prey. Just by the prey, there’s a patch of land. Get on the patch of land, and follow the path until you see a yellow Pokeball. Pick up the yellow Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM64.

TM65 – Shadow Claw

In order to reach this TM, you’ll need the bicycle upgrade, which allows you to travel on water. If you have the upgrade, then head towards the Lake of Outrage in the wild area. Once you’ve reached there, get on your bike and hop on the lake. After hopping on the lake, head to the right, and you should see a small patch of land with a berry tree on it. Go towards it, and there should be a yellow Pokeball by the berry tree. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM65.

TM66 – Thunder Fang

Sold for $30,000 inside the eastern Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM67– Ice Fang

Sold for $30,000 inside the eastern Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM68 – Fire Fang

Sold for $30,000 inside the eastern Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM69 – Psycho Cut

In order to get this TM, you’ll need the bicycle upgrade, which allows you to travel on water. If you have this upgrade, head towards Professor Magnolia’s house on Route 02. Once you reach there, hop on your bike and cross the lake near Magnolia’s house by going to the far left, until you see a path that leads to a sign in the back. Once you’ve touched land, head towards the sign. To the right of it, you should see a yellow Pokeball. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM69.

TM70 – Trick Room

Sold for $50,000 inside the Wyndon’s Battle Tower.

TM71 – Wonder Room

Sold for $50,000 inside the Wyndon’s Battle Tower.

TM72 – Magic Room

Sold for $50,000 inside the Wyndon’s Battle Tower.

TM73 – Cross Poison

In order to get this TM, you’ll need the bicycle upgrade, which allows you to travel on water. If you have this upgrade, head towards the Dusty Bowl in the wild area. Once you’ve reached here, look for a small patch of land surrounded by water at the northern part of this area. Once you find it, hop on your bike and head towards the patch of land. You’ll see a yellow Pokeball near a tree. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM73.

TM74 – Venoshock

Head towards Stow-on-Side’s Pokemon Center. Head west until you see an alley by a house. Go  down the alley There, you should see three Diglets and a ladder at the back. Take the ladder up. After that, you’ll see yet another ladder. Take it up. Afterwards, you should see a yellow Pokeball. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM74. 

TM75 – Low Sweep

In order to get this TM, you’ll need the bicycle upgrade, which lets you travel on water. If you have this upgrade, head to Bridge Field in the wild area. Once you’re there, look for a small patch of land surrounded by water. Once you’ve found it, get on your bike and cross the body of water. After touching ground, look for a yellow Pokeball on the small island. Once you’ve found it, pick it up, and you should have acquired TM75.

TM76 – Round

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center on the second floor of Motostoke.

TM77 – Hex

The way of acquiring this TM will differ depending on which version you own. If you own Pokemon Shield, you’ll receive it after beating the Ghost Stadium in Stow-on-Side. If you own Pokemon Sword,  head to Ballonlea. You’ll arrive at the Pokemon Center, and then head left and enter the second house, just before reaching the Stadium. Once you’re inside the house, talk to the lady inside of it, and you should have acquired TM77.

TM78 – Acrobatics

In order to get this TM, you first need to be wearing the following items (which can be purchased from the boutique in Hammerlocke with the exception of the Sport Top, which is given to you after beating the Fire Stadium in Motostoke): 

  • Sport Top – Fire Type
  • Tracksuit Jacket – Fire Type
  • Trackie Bottoms – Fire Type
  • Sport Rucksack – Fire Type
  • Sport Cap – Fire Type
  • Sport Sunglasses – Fire Type

Once you’re wearing this set, head towards Ballonlea’s Pokemon Center. Once you reach there, head towards the left, and talk to the NPC standing up by the woodpile. After hearing his dialogue, you should have acquired TM78.

TM79 – Retaliate

You’ll get this TM through story progression. Once you’ve beaten the Water Stadium, go talk to Sonia down at the restaurant, and you should have acquired TM79.

TM80 – Volt Switch

Head towards the Bridge Field’s Pokemon Nursery. Once you reach there, talk to the man to the left of the Pokemon Nursery. Once you interact with him, choose “The Rotom Rally!”. After that, choose “The Dappled Grove.” Once you start the rally, all you have to do is follow and touch the balloons. Once you’re done with the rally, you should have acquired TM80.

TM81 – Bulldoze

Head towards the giant boulder known as the Giant’s Seat in the wild area. Once you’re there, search around the boulder for a den. Once you’ve found the den, look for a yellow Pokeball thatshould be in front of it. Pick up the yellow Pokeball and you should have acquired TM81.

TM82 – Electroweb

Head towards the Hulbury Stadium. Once you reach the Stadium, head straight towards the right side until you reach the lighthouse. Once you reach the lighthouse, check the narrow passage, which is on the right side of the lighthouse. There’s a well-hidden yellow Pokeball right there. Pick up the Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM82.

TM83 – Razor Shell

Sold for $100,000 inside the Wyndon’s Battle Tower.

TM84 – Tail Slap

Head towards the Dappled Grove, which is located in the Wild Area. Once you’re there, head towards the corner of this area, and you’ll find a den next to a log and a tree. Search at the end of the log, and you’ll see a yellow Pokeball. Pick up the yellow Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM84.

TM85 – Snarl

Given to you after beating the Dark Stadium in Spikemuth.

TM86 – Phantom Force

Head towards the Slumbering Weald. Once you reach there, follow the only path available. You’ll eventually reach a path where you can either go left or right. Pick the left path and continue forth. You’ll eventually reach another path where you can either go left or go right. Pick the right path, and you’ll eventually come across a log bridge. Cross the bridge, and continue following the path until you reach the end of it. Once you reach the end of it, you’ll see a yellow Pokeball. Pick it up, and you should have received TM86.

TM87 – Draining Kiss

Given to you after beating the Fairy Stadium in Ballonlea.

TM88 – Grassy Terrain

Sold for $20,000 inside the eastern Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM89 – Misty Terrain

Sold for $20,000 inside the eastern Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM90 – Electric Terrain

Sold for $20,000 inside the eastern Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM91 – Psychic Terrain

Sold for $20,000 inside the eastern Pokemon Center in Hammerlocke.

TM92 – Mystical Fire

Sold for $100,000 inside the Wyndon’s Battle Tower.

TM93 – Eerie Impulse

Head towards Wyndon’s Battle Tower. Just before reaching the tower, you should see a sign with the Battle Tower’s logo on it. Check behind the sign, and there should be a yellow Pokeball. Pick up the pokeball, and you should have acquired TM93.

TM94 – False Swipe

Sold for $10,000 inside the western Pokemon Center on the second floor of Motostoke.

TM95 – Air Slash

In order to reach this TM, you’ll need the bicycle upgrade, which allows you to travel on water If you have the upgrade, then head towards the Axew’s Eye in the wild area. Once you reach the island, search for the only tree on it. Look around the tree for a yellow Pokeball. Pick up the yellow Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM95.

TM96 – Smart Strike

Head towards Route 08. Once you enter the route, head down the stairs and keep going straight until you reach a ladder that is positioned on the right side. Head down the ladder, and  then take the ladder on the right side, which will take you up. Once you’re up, take the path in front of you and turn left afterwards, which is going to take you to a set of stairs. Go down the stairs, and then keep going straight until you reach a ladder that will take you up. Once you’re up, take the ladder on the left to go up again. Once you’re up, there should be a yellow Pokeball in front of you. Pick up the yellow Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM96.

TM97 – Brutal Swing

Head towards Turffield’s Pokemon Center. After reaching there, take the path on the right. Once you reach the intersection, take the path on the left, and keep heading straight until you reach the stadium. Once you reach the stadium, look at the right side, and you should see a well-hidden yellow Pokeball. Pick up the Pokeball, and you should have acquired TM97.

TM98 – Stomping Tantrum

Head towards Route 10’s campsite. After that, take the main path towards Wyndon. As soon as you get on top of the hill and see Wyndon’s entrance, there should be a big boulder followed by a tree on the right. There’s an entrance right in the middle of both. Head to the right so you can access the small hill. There should be a yellow Pokeball right there. Pick it up, and you should have acquired TM98.

TM99 – Breaking Swipe

Given to you after beating the Dragon Stadium in Hammerlocke.
