There’s a lot of good news for Nintendo Switch 2 owners today, but also an exciting addition for those who have the original Nintendo Switch!
Pokémon Pokopia updated to version 1.0.2

A new update is available for Pokémon Pokopia on the Nintendo Switch 2. Version 1.0.2 brings some bug updates to the game, including a fix for missions that could previously get stuck and halt game progress — official details about them below:
- During the request “Rock Smash your way to treasure!” in Withered Wasteland, if the player places other blocks over the cracked blocks near Hitmonchan, it becomes difficult to understand how to progress the request.
- During the request “To Snorlax!” in Bleak Beach, if the player places other blocks over the cracked blocks near Snorlax, it becomes difficult to understand how to progress the request.
In addition, the update addresses the following bugs as well:
- During the request “Help make a home!” in Withered Wasteland, Squirtle may move on top of a tree and become impossible to talk to, preventing progress.
- During the request “Find the Pokémon Center!” in Bleak Beach, if the cracked blocks on the bridge are broken before Professor Tangrowth crosses the bridge, it will become difficult to make progress on the request.
- During the request “Find the Pokémon Center!” in Bleak Beach, a specific sequence of actions may prevent Professor Tangrowth’s bridge repair request from triggering, preventing progress.
- In Rocky Ridges, a specific sequence of actions may prevent the event in which the player meets Rotom from occurring.
- During the request “Clear off the path!” in Rocky Ridges, if the request is triggered under certain conditions, it will become difficult to make progress on the request.
- Spinarak’s type is listed incorrectly in the Pokédex.
Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness now available
Subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service can now play Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness from their Nintendo Switch or Switch 2! First released for the Nintendo GameCube in 2005, the game follows protagonist Michael in the Orre region as he faces the evil organization Cipher and investigates a Shadow Lugia.
Although the original game had Pokémon that could be transferred to Generation III titles, the Switch Online release offers no connectivity with the recently re-released Pokémon LeafGreen and FireRed games.
Switch 2 boosts handheld Switch game performance
The 22.0.0 update for the Nintendo Switch 2 has some minor updates, including some that may be important to avid GameChat users, but it also includes the Handheld Mode Boost in which compatible Switch games will run as if you’re playing in docked mode. That means those who enjoy using their Switch 2 in handheld mode can enjoy greater visual fidelity in some Switch games.
That Handheld Mode Boost can be enabled in the System Settings -> System section. The drawbacks appear to be potential issues with touch controls and additional battery drain.
We encourage fans to revisit some of the Pokémon titles from the last generation, such as Pokémon Sword and Shield, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and the Let’s Go titles to see if it seems to make much of a difference!
