That’s great news for fans who are looking forward to the title, which sees the Pokémon franchise explore new genres. It combines both life sim elements and world world building for an interesting new experience.

We’ve gathered reviews for fans to watch and read below (not ordered by review score).

Nintendo Life

“And it all looks lovely and runs well on Switch 2. The clean, colourful art style really adds a degree of toy-like charm, but I was amazed when messing around with the camera and zooming into the furniture, the amount of detail in objects like sofas and benches.” 8/10 Read the full review.

Game Informer

“While the main campaign is extraordinarily guided – at times to a fault – Pokopia offers a bonus biome that allows for free-form exploration, construction, and Pokémon-attracting.” 9/10 Read the full review.

VGC

“As expected, the real Pokémon Pokopia starts after the credits roll. The sheer number of Pokémon, habitats, items, furniture, and even whole sections of areas we were still discovering hours after finishing the game is staggering.” 5/5 Read the full review.

TheSixthAxis

“Pokémon Pokopia is almost exactly as cosy as we hoped. It’s more active and goal-oriented than Animal Crossing, but there’s still a laid-back, charming atmosphere to rebuilding the world and making it a new home for yourself and all the other Pokémon left behind.” 9/10 Read the full review.

GameSpot

“Discovering new Pokemon is one of the best parts of Pokopia, and a total paradigm shift from the usual Pokemon formula. You’re no longer using other Pokemon to battle the creatures you find, hoping to wear them out and then tossing a Poke Ball to capture them. Instead, you’re building habitats to attract new species.” 9/10 Read the full review.

IGN

“Pokémon Pokopia is a real treat: an enjoyable building and town simulator that capitalizes on the charming personalities of its monsters in a way that appeals to both the creative and collector alike. It’s packed with fun things to do and worthy rewards for doing them, and strikes a healthy balance between freedom and suggestion in its building mechanics (despite a few precision nitpicks).” 9/10 Read the full review.

New York Times

“Spinoff video games usually take up space in the margins, appealing to a niche audience with very specific interests. But Pokopia expertly emulates elements of a genre that has boomed in popularity, getting everything right without compromising on the franchise’s core tenet of cuteness.” Critic’s Pick Read the full review.
