In today’s Pokémon Presents we saw the first trailer for Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves, the first main series Pokémon titles that will debut exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2. They will be releasing in 2027, so fans have to be patient, but we’ve catalogued what we know so far based on the reveal trailer below.
The Gen 10 starters
The starters in Winds and Waves have been revealed as Browt, the Grass-type starter, Pombon, the Fire-type starter, and Gecqua, the Water-type starter.
Browt is a bird-like Pokémon that sports a leafy brow. It looks rather grumpy… It has a fluffy tail in the back.
Pombon is very reminiscent of a Pomeranian dog and looks like it will have a very friendly disposition.
Gecqua has a gecko-like design and seems rather mischievous.
Characters
The protagonists of Pokémon Winds and Waves will start their adventure in slightly different clothing depending on which version of the game you’re playing. The protagonists of Winds wear white outdoor sun hats.
The protagonists will start with blue caps in Pokémon Waves.
In addition to the protagonists, the trailer has shown off two special Pikachu: Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu. Their roles in the games is currently unknown. Both look like they get plenty of sun in the games’ new region!
Exploring the new region
The setting of Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves seems pretty varied. The trailer showcases an underwater route, volcano exploration, a swamp-like area and more.
