The Game Boy Advance titles Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen, first released in 2004, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 as digital downloads and pre-orders are now available through the console’s eShop app. Both are priced at $19.99 and will be released on February 27, Pokémon Day. They will be available to play following the Pokémon Presents presentation beginning at 8:00 a.m. CST that lasts about 25 minutes.
The listings confirm a few key details:
- Pokémon HOME support is planned (!)
- Players can enjoy local wireless play with friends for trading and battling
- Games support TV, tabletop and handheld Switch modes
- Each is about 40 mb in size
- Cloud saving is not supported


While the games are available in different languages, they must be purchased in the language you would like to play in. If you would like to play in multiple languages, it will require separate purchases.

Special Japanese set






Although there is no physical game card release of FireRed and LeafGreen, a special commemorative boxed set will be released in Japan which includes:
- A download card for FireRed or LeafGreen
- Game boxes recreated from the titles’ original release inside a plastic case
- Set of three translucent Poké Balls with an internal etching of Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle on illuminating bases and a case for the set
FireRed & LeafGreen soundtrack on Nintendo Music

Fans can also listen to the games’ soundtrack on the Nintendo Music app, which is included with a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
