PokéPark Kanto announced as latest Pokémon and Yomiuriland collaboration

Following the 2022 Pokémon WONDER attraction held at Tokyo amusement park Yomiuriland, a new collaboration between Pokémon and the park has been announced: PokéPark Kanto. Although not much is known about what this PokéPark will entail, Japanese coverage of the announcement has mentioned Pokémon fans from all over the world being able to enjoy meeting Pokémon in a beautiful nature area where various events can also be held.

Why the focus on Kanto?

The original Pokémon region of Kanto is based on the real-world Japanese Kanto region, an area of the country in the middle of its largest island.

It includes the prefectures of Gunma, Tochigi, Ibaraki, Saitama, Tokyo, Chiba, and Kanagawa. With Yomiuriland’s location in Tokyo, it makes the perfect place to celebrate the Pokémon universe’s Kanto region.

What was Pokémon WONDER?

For those who don’t know what Pokémon WONDER was, it gave visitors a chance to explore nature while finding many Pokémon tucked away throughout the environment. It’s unclear if PokéPark Kanto will include WONDER or utilize the same space.

New European trademarks

In addition, Nintendo has filed for trademarks for PokéPark Kalos and PokéPark Paldea in Europe. Although the possibility of PokéParks outside of Japan is exciting, there’s no indication that there are concrete plans to use the trademarks at this time.
