  1. I’m loving it so far. At first, I was disappointed to discover there were only a (relatively) few amount of new Pokemon but I love them all and am glad that there’s not too many. I’m also excited about the potential for more Pokemon, MegaEvolutions etc through DLC and whatnot.

  2. I haven’t finished playing the game yet but I can definitely say Pokemon retains its charm that it has had since the first games. One notable upgrade (apart from moving 3d models) was the music which was so awesome I find myself stalling in gym leader battles and (soon) the legendary encounters!

  3. I thought it was amazing, I loved the new pokemon and the new region, and I thought the ending was spectacular, the final battle the credits and the music, oh my goodness the music through out the whole game was amazing I loved it :3 but then again I have always loved pokemon its one of my favorite game series, at first I was also disappointed about the lack of new pokemon but the ones we got are just so likable and most of them grew on me, even after I beat the game there is still so much to do and explore,I would give it a 10/10 for sure :3 tehe

  4. I thought the game was amazing. I felt though, that Mega Evolutions were so hyped, only to get the stone in the postgame.. With how rushed in Team Flare felt, although I loved their plot, it was underwhelming to go back to the basic 7 gym leader then beat evil team and finally beat the 8th gym leader trend. I love the new pokes, and I feel like the game is a truly new generation of pokemon. 9.5/10 for lazy bums who don’t like to read :p

  5. There is nothing about X and Y that I do not love in its entirety. The first 3-dimensional models in main Pokemon games that show our favorites in a brand new light. The intrigue of Mega Evolutions that extend upon designs that we have grown to love. Lumiose City’s size and scale that trumps anything seen before. Gamefreak has certainly created a masterpiece that will only be improved with experience.

With this in mind, I give Pokemon X and Y a 1/10 because they did not create a Mega Xatu.

  6. Best thing: making things like IVs, EV training etc. MUCH more accessible for people. I’ve EV trained properly for the first time ever, and have also got into breeding a lot more too. It makes the games challenging if you want to try and have the best Pokemon you can have!

Other good things: the music is fantastic, being able to move quickly with roller skates and bicycle, the graphics are amazing both in battle and overworld, the online interactive experience (O-power, wonder trade – although sometimes frustrating, battling and trading) makes you feel like you’re playing with a whole bunch of people even though you might be alone (*sob*). Friend safari is incredibly fun. And other usual things like the new Pokemon, characters etc.

Some less good things: I found the story a bit random (I really liked the very end though), and the legendary capture was a bit underwhelming. The slowing of the frame rate at times and having to wait for every pokemon to attack in horde battles was painful. Elite four and gym leaders were fairly easy but that’s ok, but would have been good to have rematches at higher levels. Also a lot of the fairy types weren’t dual, but they’re probably saving that for next gen!

    Overall best Pokemon game yet.

  7. I loved X and Y. I loved the characters, the pokemon, the music, the environments, and the whole game itself. I want Pokemon Y to have my babies! It was everything I expected from a 3D pokemon game. The small number of pokemon did dissapoint me at first but when I saw them all was forgiven. Also pokemon amie made me scream like a little boy on christmas.Gen 6 is one of my favorites however I must admit that some people ha way too high expectations.(Did anyone have trouble logging into Disqus?)

  8. This game was a MAJOR improvement since gen5. The music was AMAZING (to be specific, champion, legendary and team flare music were MY favorites.) The storyline was intense, the ghost in lumious was the creepiest thing I’ve ever experienced, besides the rumor that gardenia killed her family to be the rightful gym leader of eterna city (hence her being too afraid to go in the mansion). But Team flare was the most evil out of all the teams from other gens, which made the game even better, though there weren’t many encounters. AND THE GRAPHICS, THOSE SWEET BEAUTIFUL GRAPHICS. Almost proposed to my computer screen right on the spot when I first saw the trailer. So overall, 10/10 for me!!!!

P.S. can someone explain how this person did this on GTS?! It just started happening 5 hours ago, if that helps. http://imgur.com/lUbzeD5

EDIT: I think the goomy may still be up, so check if you can!

  9. I have completed Pokémon X and have challenged Diantha three times already. I am currently finishing up the Looker missions, and I have my own little review of the game to share.
    Story: 10/10
I honestly love how great and dramatic the story in Pokémon X is, and it’d have to be my favorite story from any Pokémon game of all time. Lysandre is such an accomplished villain, and although we thought Team Flare was going to be a usual shitty villainous team, they were truly evil. Killing anyone not in Flare AND Pokémon as well? Outstanding job on a story. Although, I feel like there was a little inconsistency with Flare, as they were only mentioned briefly during the beginning of the game and that it REALLY got deep before the 7th gym in Lysandre Labs. But this isn’t something that would make me give the X/Y story a lower score. The story was fantastic, enjoyable, and unpredictable. Nintendo + GF did an outstanding job creating the Gen VI Pokémon story.
    New Pokémon introduced: 5/10
I honestly have to say that I wasn’t impressed with the new Pokémon count, and Mega Evolutions really don’t change my impression of that. I mean, some Pokémon were really good, but some like Binacle are just utterly stupid, and some like Goomy are just too overrated. I used Greninja and Talonflame, along with Xerneas on my Pokémon X team, and I wasn’t seeing a variety of new Pokémon at all. 69 new Pokémon is extremely low, and I really dislike that Nintendo wasted their time with Mega Evolutions and thought we would let it slide that they introduced almost three times less Pokémon than in Generation V, not that all of those were good either, but at least we had a wider variety. Nonetheless, this wasn’t something that ruined my experience, but if more had been introduced, it would’ve been better, but other components in Pokémon X and Y make up for this.
    Music: 9.5/10
The fully orchestrated music in Pokémon X and Y is absolutely stunning and never disappoints. However, before I speak nicely, I have to admit that the Gym Leader music and Elite 4 music was not as enjoyable, but the rest of the music definitely makes up for that. I cannot get enough of *SPOILER* Diantha’s theme *SPOILER* and it is definitely my favorite theme ingame. All music in the game, with the two exceptions above, are absolutely stunning, and I cannot get enough of listening. The music is well done, and fits each and every location greatly, making the experience even more enjoyable. Trust me, it is hard as hell to play without the music, it’s just too epic.
    Postgame: 5/10
Utterly disappointed with the postgame, as all there is to do is collect a few mega stones with Pokémon not even in the game or difficult to find, which can be done an hour TOPS, the Looker missions, which are interesting but could’ve been even lengthier, and catching Zygarde, Mewtwo and one of the legendary birds. Extremely disappointed in the legendary count. Just like the Pokémon count, really not impressed with the way Nintendo + GF thought Mega Evolutions could make up for this– on my part, they were way off. The three battle locations aren’t very fun, but I had a nice time at the Battle Chateau, and the other two (Maison and Institute) were very boring for me. The Friend Safari was bullshit, and Kiloude City has barely anything to do. Very disappointed.
Gym Leaders + E4: 10/10 for them, 5/10 for difficulty
The gym leaders were extremely easy, and it was just Anistar City’s Gym and Santalune City’s that I had some trouble on, but other than that it was EXTREMELY easy. I always beat the E4 members without retrying at barely level 65, and same with Diantha. Nothing too major. Really love the gym setups and the coordination for the gym battles and gyms overall, but difficulty didn’t cut it.
    Gameplay (collectively): 10/10
The gameplay was amazing as a whole! The rollerskates weren’t as bad as I thought, the overworld not being in 3D was not that bad as all, the difficulty wasn’t bad as all, and everything was just great! Great camera angles, great new features, okay new Pokémon, a dashing new type, and overall, Pokémon X and Y are the start of a new era of Pokémon. From the discovery of Mega Evolution to the evil plot of Team Flare, to the stunning gameplay and the very interesting new Pokémon and aftergame features, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are a great way to begin a new generation of Pokémon, and despite the cons, are the best Pokémon games in the history of Pokémon itself. Sure, a few flaws and a few low scores from me, but overall, leaving that aside, these games are the most amazing adventure you’ll have, and I honestly have never had as much fun playing a game before.
Overall rating for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y: 10/10
Hey, flaws are flaws, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that Pokémon X and Pokémon Y are the must stunning gaming experiences ever, and though they could use some more work, are perfect games under my vision. Even though I have some problems with the game itself, it is a perfect game, which I can prove because I have never had this much fun playing a game before– not Minecraft, not Roblox, not GTA. Flaws are things that I dislike, but the games themselves, leaving that aside, are exemplary.

  11. The game is awesome but lacks post game content, the graphics are amazing, the music is good but i still prefer the B2W2 style, the history isn’t is as good as the one in BW but is not bad either, the multiplayer is awesome and vastly improved.
Overall X and Y are great games, but in my opinion, not the best in the franchise due to the very lacking post game and the low amount of pokemons introduced 9/10

  12. Before anything I must say… THESE ARE THE MOST AWESOME GAMES EVER in my opinion! The story is amazing and for me it’s like they’ve put everything that we’ve wanted in one game and it makes me think what will happen in the next games!
Btw the speacial attack stat in Mega Mewtwo Y is just incredible!
But now going to what is important… I think everyone has seen the new “leaked” event legendaries and I must say that I think they represent the 3 parts of Kalos
Volcanion (Fire/Water) – Coastal Kalos because the water is in the coast and it the fire because we have the beaches and the hot weather.
Hoopa (Ghost/Psychic) – Central Kalos (don’t know why)
Diancie (Rock/Fairy) – Mountian Kalos – Because of the rock type.
    But it’s just my idea.

  13. I haven’t even beaten the 2nd gym yet but it’s by far the best Pokemon game I’ve ever played. I have noticed though that there have been very few grammatical errors? That kinda bothers me, but whatever. I don’t like the exp. all to be honest, I feel like it’s cheating in a way, so I leave it off. And for some reason it seems like the male character has fewer clothing options than the female character. This may be simply because I’m only on the second gym, but the lack of options is irritating. Other than that, the game is magnificent and flawless. Huge milestone in the Pokemon franchise, and this game will have a large impact on the following generations and regions.

  14. I, without a doubt, consider this the best Pokemon game to ever be released (eventual Z game will probably be better tho), graphics are phenomenal, great region, best storyline yet (although the main villain is one of the worst in my opinion) my few complaints are that the pokemon this gen feel a bit unfinished, as in some of them like Meowstic and Heliolisk look like they had a third stage of evolution but were scrapped at the last second, and I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t disappointed in the lack of pokemon in this gen but I’m pretty sure the eventual Z game might fix this plus surprisingly this is the only gen where there is not a single pokemon I absolutely hate and will never catch (I obviously dislike some of them but I’ll prob still catch and train em) My Verdict: 9.75/10

  15. completely unrelated to anything being discussed right now, but have people been searching for mega stones all over Kalos and the ones we know of are the only ones there right now?

  16. X and Y are so much better than the last games in the main series. I have only two complaints about it.

    1) The limited animations. I was hoping with a 3D pokemon game to have a battle system that felt like the anime, but Quick Attack has the same animation as slash.
    2) Generic blobs are back! 🙁 Except for when you use Lapras when surfing, any other pokemon when surfing and any pokemon when flying gives you a generic blob instead of having you on that pokemon’s model.

BUT i do love how Lapras is different. Instead of a generic blob, if you surf with Lapras, you see Lapras.

Both of these are just minor complaints really. Over all, X and Y are far better than Black 2 and White 2. They put a lot of focus into every pokemon model. They’ve put a lot of focus on the battle environments.

And then there is Lumiose City which abandons the notion of fixed camera, puts the camera behind me and lets me control my character as i would in a third person shooter.

Customization. In Lumiose City there is a place to get your hair colour and style changed. You can pick up lenes to change your eye colour. Scattered across Kalos are shops you can buy and change clothes. My character looks very different to your character.

Another notion that was abandoned is the idea of meeting the professor early on. You don’t meet him until after the first badge and when you do? He battles you! And then gives you a second starter from the Kanto region.

I think Gen6 are the best set of games so far. I can’t wait to see what comes from the next installment in the main series.

  24. In all honesty, X and Y may have it’s flaws, but still these games finally took big risks and I think that for the most part, they were VERY successful. Easily my favorite pokemon game of all time.

As for personal preferences, I didn’t mind the lack of new pokemon, there are already so many forgotten ones, it never really mattered to me. If I go into the nitty gritty, IV breeding improvements are a HUGE and necessary improvement, however, super training is still too slow. But I think super training is perfect for people entering competitive first time. Obviously love all of the tweaks to old pokemon, old attacks, and old abilities. Gamefreak didn’t just look forward they also fixed many things that were broken before (i.e weather starters).

My biggest complaint so far is the lack of new areas to explore that is already included in the game (not including DLC). Sure there is tons to do, but the game’s beautiful story has come to an end….

  25. I believe X & Y is a amazing game. The graphics are amazing and stunning. I really do wish the games had a 3D overworld, yet the beautifully cell-shaded graphics make up for it. Battles are fun and intuitive. Also, with the PSS, Wi-Fi connection is easier. It improves a lot with Character Customizing, the EXP Share, and more. Yet, it does have some minor flaws. Yet, this is GameFreaks first step into a 3D Game. It was amazing! Now, all we just need is a R/S Remake! ;D

      • I hope there is gen IV remakes next. Kalos is full of Hoenn pokémon, but it has very few Sinnoh ones. Sinnoh was lovely. Hoenn had far too much water and in general was shit. Remakes would have happened on DS with Gen V if they were to happen.

  26. One cool thing about this game is that it not only focuses on the 3DS, it focuses on the 3DS. This has been the first Pokémon game for the DS line that has really drawn you into the bottom screen with Amie, Super Training, PSS, battle screen customization, etc. Talk about extracting the most you can out of your system.

        • As dija said, it’s East of Santalune. Before entering the gate to Victory Road, go down and surf on the water, then go down the Waterfall, and solve the Strength puzzle. You’ll have Earthquake 😀

I wish they put more story on AZ. We ran into him once, and then the next time we saw him was behind bars. It was a very sad story 🙁 And I was shocked to learn all those stones were tombstones!

The cutscenes were awesome! And yes, Lysandre’s battle music was epic. 2nd best Team Leader theme imo.

          • I wonder where they are taking it though. I think it’s a Hey You Pikachu remake. Can’t wait to see what it is!! On Monday we will know.

          • My eyes are open as far as they can go and it still doesn’t recognize it! You also have to see the face in the bottom left corner.

          • Please let you and Jordin be right.. I want to mainly journey in Kalos for the main adventure, although the plot would revolve around that region. Maybe that region was destroyed and Kalos is what remains of it?

          • The ruins of AZ’s castle! And you find Floette waiting there, watching over AZ carefully. And when AZ is in that cell, he get out and releases both Xerneas and Yvetal and all hell break loose. Zygarde tries to stop it, but Xerneas AND Yvetal are too much for it. In the end, AZ and Floette nearly sacrifice their lives to save the world, and doing so, they return to early Kalos, to live mortally, once again. :3

          • For your character to experience the war, and see what AZ suffered through. And then you return to modern Kalos, to stop Team Flare once, and for all.

          • What if you try to stop the war like Ash and end turned into stone only for your beloved Pikachu and clone’s tears to bring you back to life. You help save Floette or try to make it stay with AZ. Or maybe help AZ, or maybe you time travel back in time to change the world! So many possibilities!

          • If you bring up the town map, try to hover to the left all the way past the ocean and the map will stop you at the screen border, however when you try the same thing on the right side of the map, it will let the pointer hover past the mountains and slightly off screen. I thought this was interesting but just a lil nugget that could mean nothing

          • There could be a new region in the south of Kalos that could be based off Spain, or something. Whatever it is, it would explain the Strange Souvenir item.

          • Well Kalos did win the war, but the guidebook specifically stated we’d be able to trade berries to X and Y from other regions.

  36. Character Customization is the absolute best! I just walked into the Anistar Boutique and saw a zipper jacket that’s orange and blue. Those are my NY Mets colors, so happy right now ^_^

And, much to the disappointment of many fans, Milotic is still pure Water. I’m glad though, i think it should’ve stayed Water. I think Whimsicott becoming Grass/Fairy and Lilligant not was what irked me.

  42. Guys would you mind rating my team so far? I need to come up with a good, solid team for a little tourney I’m doing with some friends. The plan after that is to have this as my gen 6 team though, so I want it to be as good as possible.

So Far I have: Aegislash, Greninja, Mega Gardevoir, Gliscor.

I was thinking of having Mienshao as my lead, Mienshao is an excellent lead. I don’t have to, though.

What do I need? I kinda want to be able to balance out my weaknesses here, so that I can take out pretty much anything if not super-effectively then with neutral STABs (the attacker needs to resist the opponent in this situation ideally though). I’d like to use Kalos Pokemon as much as possible. I tend to prefer using sweepers, but I’m perfectly able and happy with a tank/stall Pokemon or even a status inducer, those are always fun.

    Reply
    • I would have suggested Clawitzer as a sweeper, but you already have Greninja. If you want a good status inducer and tank, I’d suggest a Goodra with the ability Hydration and the moves Rain Dance and Rest. Type wise, I’d suggest Aurorus or Tyrantrum, but I have no idea how well they function in battle. Mienshao would make a great lead, teach it bounce and roll with it.

  49. What do you guys think about those 3 unrevealed pokemon that’s been going around, Daincie, Volcanion, and Hoopa? [Sorry if i misspelled any of them]

My friend thinks Volcanion is a fail because, according to him, “gamefreak isn’t suppose to mix water, fire, or grass together”.
Guess he completely forgot about Lombre’s family o.o

    Reply
      • I definitely could’ve seen Clawitzer being that. That would’ve been awesome LOL but I guess it could be seen like the move Brine, just really hot water… Volcanion sounds really interesting! I was actually waiting for a pokemon/pair of pokemon to be like this. I sorta thought Groudon and Kyogre were suppose to be like it, but I guess not so Im excited to see how it looks and pulls off the concept XD

        Reply
      • True, but the others could too.

Water/Fire could be like the formation of land. Lava in contact with water = land, which explains why it’ll be based on a volcano xD

for fire/grass … there are some fire resistant plants out there ( http://www.bewaterwise.com/fire02.html ). Or maybe it could be something like hot chili peppers. But if those make no sense, this is nintendo … where mario has a flower that gives him fire power and a venus fly trap-like creature that spits out fire XD to them, i bet any combination can be made somehow and way.

I absolutely love the game! Normally, with recent pokemon games [not counting BW1 but does include the third games to each gen], I’d get tired of playing really fast.. however, this one gives SO much side stuff to mess with, I’m so distracted yet caught into the game xD Definitely going to be one of my favorites

  52. To say something kinda related to this post’s topic, I think that PSS is one of the most enjoyable feature of GenVI. Seeing your friends online and easily interacting with them is awesome, plus the O-power feature which can be very handy in some situations. Loved the fact that acquaintances and passerbies also show up when your online, makes you feel connected. Its easier than ever to have a random battle of any kind (but sky battle) via battle spot its almost addicting. Words can’t even begin to describe how I feel about Wonder Trade. Even though a lot people just throw you bidoofs and bunnelbies you still end up with a great trade every once in a while, I danced for joy when someone gave me a Dratini.

    Reply
    • PSS is a VAST improvement. I just wish there was a way to message someone so that we can actually tell them what we want for trade.

          • IKR, and now that you can get most of those starters in friend safari it would not be reasonable. but what I hate is the ones that you can’t get legal

          • I can’t count the times I saw fokes asking for a Lv.11-20 Legendary when the GTS was first founded in Pearl and Diamond

        • I hope they really put as much attention to detail as they did X/Y. They say sequels are usually good but the 3rd sequel is usually not.

          Reply
          • I see the 3rd games as version 1.4 of the originals. They’re not game changers but they definitely fine tune the predecessors and get rid of any glitches. They also add a few new areas (Emerald) and almost always change the plot line to the better IMO

    • wow must be the same person since I got a Dratini today also.
Wonder trade is my favorite thing to do when I am breeding for stuff.

          • It was much better than both Champion battle themes in Gen 5 imo. But I was hit with nostalgia lol. When I heard that Gym Leader remix with the headphones on, I was like Oooooommmmmggggggg <3

          • I disliked champion theme from gen 5 more definitely (both BW and BW2. Steven/Lance/Cynthia/Blue theme is suitable for Champion music imo. But Steven’s is my favorite.

          • Sceptile breezed through Wallace! I was so annoyed when Wallace took over for Steven…but thinking about it, a Water Champ does seem kinda fitting for Hoenn, dontcha think? xD I would’ve preferred Juan though if Steven had to be replaced. Wallace doesn’t scream Champion material to me.

          • yeah btw I found the perfect teammate for Chesnaught…..Heatran….look at Chesnaught’s weakness and look at Heatran’s resistances

          • Too bad I don’t use legendaries on my team (in-game or competitive) xD With minor exceptions for in-game team (Yveltal eventually, Articuno, Mew, and Groudon).

          • heatran has the same base stat total as dragonite/pseudos and megas. But yeah too bad it’s not released yet. The other best teammate surprisingly is Houndoom….

          • Regardless of stats, it’s just a mental block for me haha. I have a tough time using something that’s considered a Legendary Pokemon on my team xD

And if that’s the case, you and I should do a team battle of sorts haha 😛 Just make sure you bring Bulky Chansey, at least I won’t have to face it xP

          • haha…yeah. But chansey is better for singles. I was trying to catch dittos of varying natures yesterday using my synchronize ralts. I finally got a good collection, so when I go back today I’ll finally start to breed for natures and IVs.

          • I believe according to serebii, any pokemon belonging to the “no eggs group” has at least 3 good IVs (30~31). So ditto may count…but not sure though

          • Yeah, his was definitely awesome! Though out of all the battle themes, I’d have to say the Yveltal/Xerneas battle music takes the cake for me.

    • Awesome. I just had a Gardevoir of my own, and after a couple of Calm Minds, I pretty much swept her. Still a good game non the less, and the ending was really cool (something different).

      Reply
      • The ending was epic! It was nice to be recognized by the region for becoming the Champion. Other games it’s been oh you’re the Champ, go home now. This we got a parade and a medal! So cool 😀

          • Yeah! How touching that was! Imagine being over 3,000 years old because a machine gave you and your Pokemon eternal life, and searching for the Pokemon that left you all that time.

          • I think the point of the Legendaries was to power the machine. But I don’t think the Legends fit into the story that well….That was the only negative…

          • oh yeah…but yes the point you mentioned was what I had in mind…what made Xerneas/Yveltal so special that they couldn’t have used Reshiram/Zekrom as an energy source.

          • Xerneas grants Eternal Life, which enabled AZ to bring Floette back to life, all while granting himself and Floatte eternal life. Yveltal causes destruction, allowing him to end the war by killing everyone. My only guess is that since the machine used the legendary’s energy 3,000 years ago, Team Flare had to use that same energy. Audino :S

          • Story and Gameplay together make a good game for me. I’ve never cared much for Graphics or Multiplayer features….but this game’s multiplayer features are nothing short of amazing…

          • I like story in certain games….pokemon just wasn’t that. I mean if you look at all generations besides BW story isn’t that amazing.

          • Hmmm…I guess from a logical stand point with Xerneas and Yveltal being the Life and Destruction Pokemon respectively it does make a lot of sense…However I am gonna stick to my point that they could have been integrated into the plot slightly better…

        • Honestly that ending, and that part in Team Flare HQ where we here the back story of the Team Flare plot, have to be 2 of the best scenes in the franchise. It’s just so much more powerful when you experience these scenes for yourself…

          Reply
          • Couldn’t agree more. I remember how stunned I was learning all those stones were tombstones of the killed Pokemon. And there was a picture shown of the Pokemon on the actual stones (something you don’t see in the overworld).

          • I still think that Gen V’s story was superior. I felt like I was always on top of Plasma’s schemes. I thought X and Y’s story explained to much in way too little time. I feel like a heretic on here since im part of a huge minority on this 🙁

          • X/Y I think had amazing gameplay and feeling of being immersed in the world. But I do agree BW/BW2 had a better story.

          • That’s because Gen 5 was very linear, and the story was everything. Here they seemed to try and back off that since a lot of people didn’t like such a linear approach, and tried to sprinkle in Team Flare here and there eventually culminating in a big boom towards the end.

          • I love the non-linear back tracking in X/Y. BW was very linear and I think it was to make the story more clear.

          • Just the whole introduction to AZ without any development and the how the story focused way too much on Lysandare and puts AZ in the backseat is what was not a big fan of. But you cant satisfy everyone though

Either way The game is the Franchise’s best entry yet and the greatest game on the entire 3DS hardware

          • It may have been superior…i’m not gonna say which one i think is better, because I honestly can’t say, they were both pretty good.
However when i think back to B/W and B2/W2, i cannot think of any scenes that struck me as immensely powerful as those two i mentioned earlier…Actually the only thing i would say was memorable (as in a good cut-secene), was when they freeze Opelucid City in B2/W2.

The legendary Cut-Scenes were okay, but i can’t say if they were better or worse in either B/W or X/Y…

          • When I need my daily dose of trumpets, I go to the Battle Chateau or enter a gym 😉

But YES, Hoenn remakes better be filled with glorious trumpets!

          • Do you guys consider Hoenn to have the best Gym Leader themes. I’ve never really payed much attention to the music in the games….But Hoenn (Emerald) is my favourite region (and game), for various reasons….

          • Well to answer that, I’ll just say the Hoenn Gym Leader theme is my favorite Pokemon music of all time 🙂

        • I love the tense feel from Cynthia’s theme, and Iris’s excitement from when you battled her. And Hoenn’s gym leader made the theme even better. Loved her team as well.

With the strange souvenir about *ahem* another region, most of you are saying, gen 7 confirmed or spinoff confirmed. But, why put the souvenir in the game at all if it was gen 7 or a spinoff. There are also no volcanos in kalos that I know of. You can probably see where I am going with this. Another small region through an event. How would you get there? Either the train in courinway or the dock in coumarine. Usually you go somewhere with docks. I would be the size of the sinnoh battle frontier. And, since no one can hack the game we don’t know anything yet. It just all fits now. Any thoughts? If you have any theories I would love to hear.

    • Here’s what I think:
Its an event that will be announced. An NPC will be waiting in a Pokemon Center and when you talk to him he says he is a tourist who has been looking for the strange souvenir. When you give him he will give you maybe an extra train/boat ticket he had which will take you to the event island and……you know the rest.

      Reply
      • I agree. In every game there’s always an area (minimum) that is only accessible via event. This time I hope it’s a much bigger area, a mini region, with it’s own story. I’m no expert but 1.7 Gigs is a damn lot of data even with 3D models when compared to previous games

Alright, I’ve been gone for a few days, and restarted my game, for reasons, though I have a friend holding Pokemon for me as I’m doing a different style run *not pure Dark this type, did that, but I will try another restriction. When fighting Gym Leaders, I will use only the same amount as them, no items, and no switching. So if I pick something, I’m committed to it until it faints.

In the mean time, what is all this jazz about hidden Pokemon being found in the GTS Name Search? Seems like it’s a story that’s been developing for awhile, so trying to find all the details would be maddening.

    Reply
    • if you can, try to keep your levels lower than gym leaders for a better challenge. Basically the 3 unannouced pokemon have trademarks and can be requested on GTS. If you ask for a pokemon that doesn’t exist, other people can’t see it on GTS, but if it does exist you can!

      Reply
      • I see, interesting. Meaning there are 72 Pokemon then it seems. And I try to keep my levels lower anyways, and at least not higher at all, did that in the last run too. The other caveat is, I have a main team of Six I’ll be using, and them alone, which should be able to handle things all around, but I won’t be strictly using Pokemon with the all out type advantages. Like, one, yes, but not in every way. So if I’m facing Korinna, I’m not going in there with my Fairy Type and Ghost Types only to screw her over, for instance.

        Reply
        • that could work but it will be quite challenging. I find that even with type advantage gym leaders have very good coverage moves. I did my run rotating poekmon a lot so I was always underleveled and to be honest with that play style x/y was the a very good challenging game.

      • Nah man, Glaceon is cool (ho ho ho) but all it can do is Magic Coat, Ice Beam and Shadow Ball, which is kinda limited. It has exactly the same problems as the other Eeveelutions have most of the time: Limited Movepool syndrome.

I’m so happy, Flareon is pretty much my favourite Eeveelution (he’s joint with Jolteon and Umbreon I can never decide). So him finally getting Flare Blitz is frickin fantastic. Now one can run a viable Flareon competitively if one should want to.

Espeon also got pretty much the only thing it needed to make it great too: something to deal with Dark types. It gets Dazzling Beam via TM. So Espeon is still comfortably the best Eeveelution out there. Vaporeon hasn’t changed and is still just as OK as it used to be, as is Leafeon.

Now Gamefreak, Give Umbreon Night Shade and Jolteon Electro Ball. Electro Ball might be pushing it a bit, I’ll admit that, but Umbreon badly needs Night Shade, to make him the perfect stall ‘mon. Chansey/Blissey get Seismic Toss and it is crucial to many of their movesets, Night Shade would do absolute wonders for Umbreon.

        Reply
          • Fair Enough, I suppose.

Still, Flareon finally getting some recognition for what it’s actually good at is most welcome. For so long its Fire option were Fire Fang, Flamethrower or Fire Blast, I’m glad it finally got Flare Blitz.

Umbreon is the only one really lagging behind now. It’s a decent Stall ‘mon, but it’s just not nearly as good as the other options.

I just want the eeveelutions to be as good as the other options. That’s all…

          • umbreon can pass curse boosts, which is… ok I guess… but compared to the others he is definitely lacking. he should for sure get night shade.

  66. Am I the only one that thought the game was just okay? The story wan’t the best we had, some old pokemon never got evos when they scream them, game was very easy, an in my opinion the worst was I beat this in 22 hours. • When you fish constantly in one place (no movement, no saving and quitting), the chances of finding a shiny increase significantly. Using a Pokemon with the ability Suction Cups (Lileep/Cradily or Octillery) this becomes much easier, as having no bite also breaks the streak.

      Reply
    • Serebii: It turns out that if you manage to get a chain of consecuctive fishing hooks, it will gradually increase the likelihood of finding a Shiny Pokémon, with the exact figures still to come. The higher the amount of Pokémon hooked,
the more likely you get a shiny Pokémon, but as with PokéRadar, this is
      not a guarantee.

There are a few things that will break this consecutive streak,
however. If you move from the spot, the streak is broken. If you pull in
the rod too early, the streak is broken. If you don’t get a nibble, the
      streak is broken.

      Reply
    • I see your safari is Bug. That’s fitting!

Consecutive fishing is fishing without moving spots and having a bite every time you cast the rod. You have to catch or defeat the Pokemon or it will break the chain.

Tipping does not raise the chances, it was just someone who did it and out of pure luck found one. Who for sure though?

of kalos has been discovered! It is the area east of kalos, where it is
more of an industrial place, with many coal mines, and even a town
devoted to one. But when team flare catches wind of it, they band
together again, to search for rare minerals in the coal mines. At first
it seems like a little excavation, but turns into much more. They want
to wipe out the whole population of east AND west kalos, except now not
even team flare members will be safe. The ultimate weapon Lysander
created runs on the minerals he collected in east kalos, and will
basically wipe kalos off the map. No one will survive, except Lysander
and his new partner Zachary, (who has been secretly leading this whole
time) created a special way of protection for just Themselves. But when
Zachay ditches lysander, and so not even lysander can escape, everyone
is faced with doom. That’s when Zygarde, whom you hear many tales about
and even see at one point, jumps out of the ground and demolishes the
machine. He then challenges you to a battle, where you MUST catch him.
Zachary then sends out his team to attack lysander, but suddenly your
zygarde rescues lysander and banishes zachary from the kalos region
forever. Then you beat the E4 and such. 🙂 (I’m sorry if this is
    terrible)”
    .

Now after all of this evidence, my new region theory may come to be!

    Reply
    • in-game or competitive? I guess in-game i would go with t-wave electroball since it could be fun, but on wifi it won’t be very effective. although i love pachirisu’s design it has no business on a competitive team though so i doubt you’re asking about that though

      Reply
      • Just general usage really, I might use it “competitively” for fun, but just general.

Also, Nuzzle is actually better than T-wave now, because it’s guaranteed paralysis that also does damage.

        Reply
        • what about fling and covet, with nuzzle and super fang? I don’t know, but those first two moves are good at snatching items.

          Reply
        • i would go with sweet kiss or light screen over grass knot. It still won’t be able to take out ground types even with grass knot but you might be able to support other team mates

          Reply
    • Just punched some numbers. Paralysis brings down speed to 25% normal speed. The fastest Pokemon, Speed Deoxys, has a base speed of 180. 25% of 180 is 45, which is lower than Pachirisu’s 95. So on base stats, Electro Ball should do at least 80 power. Not sure how that translate sinto actual stats/abilities/EVs though, but on base stats alone this is definitely looking like a good strategy with Pachirisu.

It would be really helpful on my adventure for an adamant chespin, where I literally have 4 box fulls of chespin, and I don’t want to keep quitting out of the summary mode and switching boxes, and so I can keep track of which chespin’s summary I’m on. This way you can glance at a box, and look for a certain nature. Or even a nature filter, where you can select a nature, and it highlights every pokemon with that nature.

“It’s worth also noting that the strategy guide specifically states that the other berries are form other regions. Regions plural. Meaning that we will most likely have more than one region in gen 6.

      So my theory is this:
Pokemon “Z” (And its counterpart if there is one) will take place in a completely new region. They’ll feature new Pokemon alongside the Kalos Pokemon. I’m hoping for Britain here, I must say 🙂
We will ALSO get HOENN REMAKES!

If that’s the case then hands down Gen 6 is the best ever.”

Level 3 Pidgey for Level 20 Tyrunt!
WHY IS THIS GOOD, YOU MAY ASK?
    1) I chose Amaura.
    2) I hate Pidgeys.
    3) WHY THE FUCK NOT? Diantha’s Tyrantrum is a huge threat for some (hehe, not if you have a Level 80 Xerneas– TAKE THAT BEYOTCH) and Tyrantrum is an EPIC pokemon!

Generation VII – Generation Infinity (year 9001)
            Pokemon: Dedenne Edition
            Pokemon: Dedenne Edition Remade
            Pokemon Dedenne and Dedenne
Pokemon Dedenne 2 and Dedenne 2
            Pokemon Dedenne Version

          • Is the Legendary Dedenne?
            PLOT:
You, a young trainer, have returned to the beautiful, yet mysterious region of Hoenn. There, you meet up with Professor Birch and Professor Sycamore, the researchers behind the newly-discovered Mega Evolution. Once you arrive in New Hoenn, a subset of mainland Hoenn, they meet up with you to begin your journey and further Mega Evolution. You are enthrusted with a Mega Ring and a starter Pokemon choice of either Torchic, Mudkip or Treeko with their respective Mega Stone. You are lended a Pokemon with a Mega Stone for a demonstration battle, and then sent off. Mega Evolution has developed greatly, and has now taken effect on Generation VI Pokemon.
The villainous team is Team Mega Aqua and Mega Magma, the improved versions of Team Aqua and Magma from Generation III. They are capable to generate Mega Evolution as much as they wish in a battle. This item used is called the Mega Artifact/Amulet, with very few discovered. Your job–retreive the Mega Artifact/Amulet, report to the Professors and further the knowledge of Mega Evolution. Team Mega Magma has taken upon the style of Team Flare, whereas Team Mega Aqua has, but with an alternative color clothing.

            THOUGHTS?

  87. I sincerely hope we never get a roaming legendary that’s this brutal to track down again. This is like having to track down a dozen roaming legendaries, and it’s only 1! I’ve only been able to find Articuno twice.

  89. I would say X and Y have been quite an adventure. Wonder trade helps with Masuda method which helped out in getting a shiny Sylveon. Team Flare was bad ass. Would never suspect Malva to be in on it and my one disappointment would have to be that the E4 have only 4 pokemon each. Outstanding game.

  91. Love the game overall. Love Lysander and AZ, Love the legendaries, the elite 4 and pokemon league, the Laverre city music 🙂 all I didn’t like was the lack of post game content, and the way mega stones could only be found after the game was beaten. Mega evolution was really cool, and ideally I’d love it if every 3 or 4 trainers had a mega evolution, so it feels like a core part of the game. But that’s only ideal and the amazing graphics and storyline completely make up for it 🙂 in future hopefully we’ll get more megas like the starters final evos, and they’ll appear earlier 🙂 otherwise great game

  92. Post-game and only 69 new Pokemon really sucks but other than that the game is really awesome! I feel like Masuda was drunk when he made this. A lot of stuff seems very incomplete. It’s just ew.

No department store and no boat to ride on after beating the E4. Ugh.

    Reply
    • I don’t think you’re a troll. I would rather wait till Christmas or even march for a more complete game. Things seem incomplete but there are tonnes of rumours of DLC and a possible new region in Gen 6 so there is still hope.

      Reply
    • Lumiose Station train is just as good as a boat. And a department store? Hell, we already got Boutiques, especially the huge one in Lumiose!
Other than that, you make a valid point. Postgame is boring, 69 new Pokes takes away from the usual variety. At least in previous gens you had a variety to choose from but now, you’re kinda obliged to choose from the old Pokes. Hoping for free DLC, I already paid 40 dollars for this game, not spending more for a few minor updates.

    • I don’t know what everyone is complaining about with post game. I personally loved the post game. The looker bureau thing was very interesting and unique, albeit brief. But nonetheless it was enjoyable. I personally think it’s the best post game yet. You actually do something instead of just going to a battle frontier and hunting down legendaries. The whole “you are the champion, now go fight a lot of guys for no exp and go catch several more legendaries for no reason” thing was a little boring after 3 generations.

  93. So just I’m a bit conflicted about my Klefki move set. I need steel coverage on my team and with positive nature 100 SP.attack a 80 BP Flash Cannon is still respectable. But I wanted a Dazzling Gleam and Foul Play as well because they’re useful moves in this new metagame. But that just leaves one move for status … but with prankster and so many options (T-wave, swagger, torment etc.) I feel like i should have more than one. Also I’ve heard Dual screen and rest talk have had some success? Help.

    Reply
    • I wouldn’t put any attacking moves on Klefki, it’s too frail to do any real damage. I like T-wave, substitute, swagger, foul play. Classic Liepard 2.0 Prankster annoyance. Or a suicide lead with Spikes, toxic, screens, t-wave whatever your team benefits the most from.

    • I have a Klefki set I’m working on around prankster. It’s spikes, thunder wave, calm mind and Draining Kiss/ Dazzling Gleam/Flash Cannon. The last moves is based on what you want to use it for.

I usually play the game rather quickly the first time, then play it again trying to get every single little thing, and I don’t wanna lose all the Pokemon I have so I guess I have to wait until December to get Pokemon Bank. Well other than that, I’m already planning on raising a third team on X and Y. First team being: Greninja, Charizard, Aegislash, Mr.Mime, Manectric, and Abomasnow. My second being: Chesnaught (Bulletproof), Greninja (Protean), Talonflame (Gale Wings), Banette (Cursed Body), Galvantula, and Sylveon (Pixilate)

My third team, which I’m currently breeding for, is:
    Pinsir (Adamant)
    Dratini (Adamant)
Carbink (Modest) Both Physical and Special Wall, Modest at least for Moonblast
    Pawniard (Adamant)
    Avalugg (Lax) [Sturdy]
And I really don’t know what I’m using for my last Pokemon… Was thinking on breeding for a Modest Clauncher, or using the Event Torchic.
    Any suggestions overall? 🙂

PS: Not really Super Training much, most likely only a single best stat (or two, for Carbink) for each Pokemon.

I absolutely love these games! They are definitely my favorites so far. The story is incredible and is dark with a lot of emotion behind it, especially with AZ’s story. My only complaint is the league, they didn’t make them much of a challenge this time around.

    • AZ better be a main character in Pokemon Z / X2 Y2. I really hope there will be:
      1) An evil team called Team Mega (insert name here) which hold the key to unlimited Mega Evolution.
      2) Team AZ. Name says it all.
      AND WELCOME BACK!

    • I agree. Also, I enjoyed the DP and BW/B2W2 leagues better because they incorporated the Champion into the main character’s growth throughout the story. This Champion, Diantha, seems too far removed from the plot. Also, I did enjoy the boost and change in line-up that the league got when you faced them a second time.

          • that’s actually good, inkay doesn’t need to be alive, just on the 1st party slot. see, its a chain that lasts until you fail to land a pokemon on your fishing hook. (which is what suction sups is for) also, you cant move from that spot, it breaks the chain. it doesn’t need to be the same wild pokemon over and over either. just… fish repeatedly. it took me 104 successful fishes in a row. you CAN run from the battle. that’s about all there is to it.

          • im pretty sure that’s ok. you find the super rod on route 15 when you get there. its very easy it just takes awhile. I got halfway through casino royale (best movie ever by the way) before I found mine.

CHECK THIS BULLSHIT!! I CRIED AT THE END!
    – Pokemon Z will be releasing worldwide once again, and will release in Q4 2014. The main legendary is Zygarde, as probably guessed before. Xerneas and Yveltal, along with Zygarde get new formes, yet to be announced or confirmed by any leaker.
    – Pokemon Z take place in Kalos, which is actually three times the size of what was known in X and Y.
    – The game is extremely long and very detailed. The overworld is now in 3D, the trainer sprites as well. Professor Sycamore has teamed up with Korrina, now Professor Korrina, to research more on Mega Evolution. The games take place 2 years after X and Y, and Mega Evolution has expanded to Generation VI as well. There are many new Pokemon introduced in Z, bring the total to about 850.
    – Team Flare returns, with another villainous team dubbed “Team Pixie,” who, like Team Flare, have the vision of a beautiful world. Team Pixie are dressed in pink, purple and magenta, whereas Flare are dressed in Black, Orange, and Red.
    – Malva leads Team Flare in Mainland Kalos. Xerosic and Lysandre now reside in one of the two new sections of Kalos, and lead a yet unconfirmed villainous team. Bryony, Mable, Aliana, Celosia and Diantha lead Team Pixie in a final new location in Kalos. Team Pixie controls Xerneas, Team Flare controls Yveltal, and Xerosic and Lysandre’s unconfirmed team control Zygarde, all to make a “beautiful world.”
    GYM LEADERS- NO ORDER
    Traffjo- Fire-type gym leader
    Clemont- Electric-type gym leader
    Chance- Dark-type gym leader
    Valerie- Flying-type gym leader
    Wulfric- Ground-Type gym leader
    Wikstrom- Dark-type gym leader
    Wolffrena- Ice-type gym leader
    Drasha- Dragon-type gym leader
    Elite 4:
    There is no Elite 4.
SPOILER: The champion is AZ. How:
When Team Pixie and Team Flare are at conflict, Xerneas and Yveltal awaken and duel to the death. During the battle, Zygarde awakens, and controlled by Lysandre, Mega evolves into MegaZygarde, stopping the feud, and sending both Pokemon to their graves, and both teams are annihilated in the process. Kalos is teared to shreds. From then on, Xerosic is in disagreement with Lysandre’s work, and Lysandre locks Xerosic up in the Flare HQ. The building is then burned down. No remains of Xerosic are found. Before Lysandre goes to claim is position as Pokemon League Champion, although all humans are destroyed, and all Pokemon are destroyed (in Kalos), AZ comes up. He says Lysandre is a fool, a man who cares nothing about himself and power, and duels Lysandre with his only Pokemon (lives of all dead Pokemon revive it)- Floette. Floette manages to destroy Lysandre as a whole. This occurs right before entering Victory Road, in Broadstone City. From then, the player character makes his or her way to Victory Road, which is blocked off by remains of the Great Pokemon War. Being the only human alive besides AZ, the player character finds a lonely Floette with a message to make his/her way to the heart of Lumiose City. There, Lysandre/Xerosic’s team’s HQ resides, in remains, but with a button, triggering a portal, sending the player to Kiloude City, the only location in the game where nothing has happened. The player then chats with Trevor, Tierno, Shauna and Calem/Serena. There, they reside in fear of the effects of the Great Pokemon War, but also state that the Pokemon League resides not too far from Kiloude. Your rivals take you, by plane, to the Pokemon League, where you do not fight anyone due to the death of everything in Kalos, and instead, with Floette, make your way to AZ. You fight him, with his Floette and 5 Pokemon he managed to save. After beating him, he dies of natural old age, as small portions of past Pokemon games play, until the words THE END appear. Pokemon Z the last game in the series.

          • no you can’t pass hidden abilities with imposter ditto. all safari pokemon have atleast 2 perfect IVs. And with a synchronizer you can get what ever nature ditto you want.

          • Sorry I didn’t clarify, i said you can’t pass hidden abilities with imposter ditto and a non hidden ability pokemon. any diito (imposter or not) can pass hidden abilities with a hidden ability pokemon.

          • Then why a Safari Ditto? I understand what you’re saying, I know about the non-HA Pokemon w/ an Imposter Ditto. That’s why I suggested Pokemon Village. If Braixen is far enough to go to the Friend Safari, then s/he can go back to Pokemon Village and get a Ditto (which has a low catch rate.)

          • 2 perfect IV + everstone on synchronzed nature ditto and destiny knot + pokemon you desire to breed.

You can easily hatch any pokemon of any nature with atleast 2 perfect IVs. Then you repeat process with a 2nd ditto with 2 perfect IV different from the original one to get 4 flawless IVs…repeat until you get flawless pokemon of any desired nature.

It would take forever to do this in Pokemon village

  115. So.. those three hidden pokemon.. one of them, Hoopa, is ghost/psychic…

  118. I knew I would like it, but not until I actually played it did I feel the real delight! I mean, how could I not fall in love with Azurill and Mr. Mime’s . . . I don’t know what to call them since they’re not sprites anymore. The graphics are great. I really loved that there were constantly so many different pokemon to catch – and went out of my way to get as many as possible. The low number of new monsters was less disappointing than I thought it would be. The story is incredibly weak, but I do like that it means fewer in-depth distractions. I am still hoping that there are many more mega stones yet to be released, but I haven’t personally gotten into the mega evolutions at all (they remind me too much of using legendary pokemon, which never really suited me). I also love the super training section as a way to get your EVs up easily (double up bag + level 3 gets you 24 in one swoop!). Also, the experience share makes it possible to actually train a 6-monster team (which used to be very challenging). I am currently training up a team for online battles.
I do see room to improve for the follow up titles, though. First off, I found the game way to easy. I don’t remember anyone on my team ever even fainting. So, a hard mode would be welcome – but harder than the one in BW2, which I didn’t find particularly challenging (but was nice to have gym leaders have more monsters and use hold items). I would personally even like to see more than 8 gyms, but I understand the system in place. The characters are really missing a lot of, well, character, but that’s not a big issue. I have already forgotten half of the gym leaders and elite four members’ names. I think it would help if they had a larger part in the game outside of their own gyms. I also wonder, based on what Shauna says outside your house when you win, if the follow up will be the same group of kids in Hoenn?

    • For the most part I agree with you It looks amazing but I do feel its a bit easy… as much as I like the exp all it’s made my squad far too powerful too quickly not one gym has been a challenge. …. they need a mode for experienced trainers

  123. I’ve been hording for two whole hors straight and no shiny! I just don’t have the patience for this! And that’s kinda dissapionting because all I’ve ever wanted from a pokemon game was just one shiny! Any suggestions? Help please 🙂

  124. Guys, can you please stop boasting about your shinies for the people who don’t have one? I’ve played all the games since ruby/sapphire and never a shiny. Not to metion the times I’ve restarted. I don’t mean to be mean, but its kinda been depressing me. Thanks 🙂

    Chesnaught / Nutella
Talonflame / Bonflyer (sorry, I liked the name)
    Sylveon / Stella
    Blastiose/ King Koopa
    Ampharos / Savio? Fabulos? (ideas?)
    Tyrantrum / King baby

Oh…I am breeding a beldum for you…I would give you the metang I caught, but I realized I should breed some back ups since it was a tough catch. Give me 10 more minutes max…sorry about the length of time.

  128. I have a questions for my Poké peeps. In sapphire, when you went to the town with the hot springs, and you got the Wynaut egg, were yours always shiny? Every time I started a new game in sapphire I would get a shiny Wynaut, but in Ruby it would be regular.

    • Event chambers/caves/hideouts temd to have the same design. Spirit Den is already reserved for the Bird Trios, guess that means there’s one more cave out there

      • I knew the chamber of emptiness and sea spirits den had the same design, I just wondered why there was only 2. then I realized the unknown dungeon has the same design as those 2. just a thought, I guess…

        • Still, I wonder what the Chamber of Emptiness is for other than getting Banettenite. I doubt GF would design a chamber in such a manner without a purpose, especially when you consider how it’s kinda tucked away from the main route

  130. Easiest way to hatch eggs:
    1. fly to center of lumiose, the circle outside of gym
    2. get some paper weight or anything heavier and place it on the “->” or “<-" button of the d-pad
    3. enjoy!

      • Yep, gonna be doing that in a bit.
So far my team consists of:

Modest Protean Greninja (252 SpA/252 Spd)
Timid Haunter (252 SpA/252 Spd) (will be Gengar as soon as i find someone to trade with)

and soon the Ferrothorn. Thinking of putting Goodra on as a Special Wall…and the rest are undecided as of yet

          • Yep, for competitive purposes….Ferroseed is ready, just needs to be EV trained. Looking for someone who has a Gooey Goomy to trade with

  135. I’m just not cut out for this shiny stuff. I had a good consecutive fishing chain and I sneezed and missing a fish! How od you use the pokeradar? When I try to use it it says “moms words: theres a time . . .. .

    • Use the D-pad (+) instead of the circle pad. It only works on foot.

Try going for the patches of grass that shake a lot and if you see one that has sparkles there’s a shiny inside. Hope I helped 🙂

P.S. Also use/buy tons of Super Repels so your chain doesn’t break.

  137. Faced a guy in a triple battle online who used an awesome stragey:
    His team
    Gardevoir Greninja Xerneas

He had Greninja pull up a Mat Block, effectively shielding his entire team from my sweepers.
Gardevoir & Xerneas were free to safely setup Light Screen and Reflec respectively.

Once Greninja was out he sent Togekiss.
Had the entire team abuse Dazzling gleam Which was boosted by STAB and Xerneas’s Fairy Aura. The problem is it’s a multi-target move => with every attack at least two of my pokes got hit. Didn’t help that I had Garchomp & Yveltal as two main attackers Needless to say I lost, but damn I admire the strategy. I tip my hat to you, sir.

  138. X and Y didn’t really live up to all of my expectations. I loved the length between the 1st and 2nd Gym, but afterwards it was pretty much a Gym after every city. I didn’t like that you didn’t have that many interactions with your rivals and that you didn’t meet the Gym Leaders beforehand or do something with one of them like in Gen IV. I did like the character customization, and the Elite Four was great. I found all of the Gym Leaders and Champion a little too easy (except for Grant). I’m a little upset that there wasn’t a VS Seeker, but I did enjoy the new features. The cities, towns, routes, caves, ect look incredible. Most of the music was just okay, however it did match with the place it was for. I LOVED the Victory Road music, but I felt like Victory Road itself was too short. I loved the fact that there are 450 obtainable Pokémon within the game before you actually beat it. Umm I can’t really think of anything else to say.

    • oh, and also, they made a new move called FEINT Attack that does the same exact thing as FAINT Attack and replaced the move Faint Attack in Pokémon’s move pools with Feint Attack. Pointless. (I know it’s the same thing, they just spelled it differently)

How do I pass down IVs from a parent Pokemon?

  142. As much as I love X and Y I also think they act as such a good base for Gamefreak to build upon for the next releases (R/S remakes please ^_^) just look at the difference between Diamond/Pearl and B2/W2

  143. X and Y are hands down the greatest Pokemon games I’ve ever played. The graphics are beautiful (though lack of 3D on double and triple battles was disappointing), breeding is streamlined, the Pokemon selection is astounding, and IV training has never been easier.

And on top of that, it is the first game in the series that has some semblance of emotional depth. I nearly cried during the end credits (not going to elaborate any more for those who haven’t yet experienced it, but you know what I mean). Certainly you could call the story juvenile compared to other games these days, but for a Pokemon game it was heaven.

Also, in the Battle Maison, a Hex Maniac named Clara implied I was the Doctor. (Something about being “a doctor from an evil planet”). Best. Localization. Ever.
