As the launch date gets closer and closer for Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, it’s probably worth noting the differences between the two games. After all, most of us will only be buying one. This post is just a brief overview, more can be found on the (updated) “Version Differences” page. Without further ado, let’s take a look at what separates these two games!

ps- The minigames on the Xtransceiver have been localized as Balloon Catch! and Balloon Ka-boom! 🙂
pps- A code for a Shadow Tag Gothorita will be given out with US copies of the official Black 2 / White 2 strategy guide! Sadly it’s one time use 🙁

I’m getting Black 2 since I originally got Black and it would just ruin the sequel feeling if I switched colors now. It wasn’t an easy choice though. I prefer quite a few of W2’s version exclusive Pokemon, the version exclusive location aesthetic for Reversal Mountain (Lava Cave FTW x ∞), and White Kyurem (mostly for the Reshiram part; in case it’s not obvious enough, The Flaming E likey fire types, and yes I know WK isn’t actually a fire type, but it is genetically as far as I’m concerned due to being made from a fusion involving a fire type). But I do like quite a few aspects of B2 as well, and since I can already get pretty much every Pokemon between B and B2 the only unfixable bummer is the Reversal Mountain’s lava cave. And while I do find missing out on it to be way more disappointing than a sane person probably would, it’s not so significant enough to be worth completely switching games and ruining the sequel feeling, so I officially chose Black 2 as of a few hours ago when I put down the pre-order deposit. (I’ll miss you, lava cave… T~T)
I think I will go with the old Opelucid. I had the Black Version, which had the new Opelucid. I don’t know which one has the old city now.
I will be getting Black 2 this time round (seeing as how my brother got Black and I got White)
I’m actually really excited about the game and hope it lives up to my expectations =D
(As for the Shadow Tag Gothorita, I’m not bothered by that I as planned to get the guide anyway, I do that will all main Poke games)
I am getting Black 2 even though I got White the first time. The only reason is because of Zekrom. I just wish they had made it differently. Like having Black 2 have Reshiram instead of Zekrom and vice versa. But oh well I’m still excited!
I’m gonna get both since i got both the first time lol…but I still have to beat my Pokemon Black so I can move on to its sequel. They come out a day after my Birthday so Happy Birthday to me 🙂

I pre-ordered both a while back, and I’m wicked excited. Yay!
I don’t know if this is relevant to version differences, but can you do the memory link between Black 1 and White 2? Or White 1 and Black 2? Or do they have to be the same color?
I’ll be getting White 2. And hopefully down the road Black 2 since my brother doesn’t seem interested in buying it this time around. It just feels wrong not having both versions of the game. xD
I totally understand that feeling. My sister usually gets the opposite version that I do, but since it doesn’t look like she’ll be doing that this time I may wind up getting White 2 later on. I know I wouldn’t really need it to complete anything since whatever I can’t get in Black 2 I probably have in Black, but there’s just something that wouldn’t feel right about not having both versions nearby.
Sadly, neither.
