You can breed to get non Alola Pokemon. An NPC tells you that in the game. I’m not sure how it works with cubone, egg and pikachu. But the ones that pop from eggs Forsyth have a chance

Ironically enough, with me was the other way around. It was meh for a good chunk of the game (Especially Dartrix), but it really begun to shine when it evolved. Mine was Quirky (altough no perfect IVs) and destroyed everything in its path, even when underleveled. (take that Sucker Punch, Mega Alakazam!)

If you’re talking about competitive or Battle Tree though, that’s a different story, since none of the starters (maybe saving Incineroar) really shine in it.

Decidueye is good, it’s just not an attacker. With all the power creep in the last games, it really looks mediocre. Hell, even Tsareena has better attack than it. But I say with property after using all starters, that with it I had the most fun with a starter since my Sceptile on Ruby.

Regarding the game, well, its a different game, with its own new Pokémon. That’s valid. In any case, catching them all is not part of whats required in the game, just a thing some players do. As such, I don’t see any ethical issues.
