Do we truly play Pokemon for the creativity? Truly? It’s been the same game for about 20 years. It just looks prettier and prettier, and some of the game mechanics have improved (battling system, internet connectivity).

I’d *say* this might hurt their bottom line, but with Pokemon, anything is like printing money, so whatever.

I still don’t like it, and talking about it is starting to make me mad. So I’m going to stop for now.

They’ll probably release some sort of Switch mini or something before then.

Well the hope is that they stop with two versions. I don’t think that format would translate well on the Switch. And yes, it is nice if you already have a switch, but I got mine by saving up money and also selling my Wii U for it. It’s still cheaper than the other consoles.

As for it being expensive for families, that’s true, but that’s just the price of gaming. It’s never been a cheap hobby, even through the 2DS. 2DS are like $90-$100 give or take (if you’re not getting a 2DS XL, and most kids I know have a 3DS and do not want the 2DS model in the slightest), plus $40, so that’s around $140 for one child for just one game. Yeah, it’s still like half the price, but I’m sure Nintendo is aware of that and I’m sure they’re probably working on alternatives. Anyway you spin it, I think this is a good move for the franchise. Creativity should not be held back by the limited power of the 3DS just so it’s more affordable for kids. It has to be allowed to grow and evolve.

Will all the patches and DLC make the games unplayable when people buy them used 10 years from now?

Maybe if you already *have* a Switch.

Okay, but if a Switch cost $100 more than a brand-new New 3DS XL, and I want to get both games, that’s $140 MORE than I’d pay otherwise. Not to mention I already have a couple of 2DS, and I could get a brand new one of those (with Mario Kart 8 preinstalled) for $80.

DLC? that’s been my theory for a while. hold back a few mythical pokemon and patch em in later, that way the inevitable datamines can’t lay out all the cool secrets at once.

I know that I live here too. My only wonder is will Pokémon actually stoop to the level of upping their price (Has it ever changed from $40 dollars?)

Not just Gti but blue rescue team on the ds too… Every other gen of pmd is ahead a console.
