Personally I don't think it would of hurt to give Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu the fairy type so they could at least have a good typing and that would make Pikachu look great if it's suddenly attack by a dragon type move like Draco Meteor in the anime and nothing happens. Now that would be awesome because even though Pikachu has been a mascot from the start, Pikachu could definitely do with something new.
