I thought of an idea for Pokemon

first game will have a legendary of positive energy which the main element is Fire

second game will have a legendary of negative energy which the main element is Ice

Fire legendary will have an ability probably called “Solar Blaze” which doubles fire damage against Ice.

Ice legendary will have an ability probably called “Negate” which allows the user of the ability (only this ice legendary has it) to be super effective against fire

(super effective but fire is still super effective against Ice) as much as fire is super effective against Ice (so if Solar blaze was activated and Negate was as well then Ice would have double damage just like fire but if no Solar Blaze then Negate will only be regularly super effective against Fire).

Fire legendary will have special move called “World On Fire” which makes the area filled with heat then absorbing and channeling into a blazing beam to shoot the enemy, causes instant burn.

Ice legendary will have special move called “Ice of Judgement” which makes the area filled with coldness then absorbing and channeling into a bomb made of ice, then going to the target and exploding, causes instant freeze to the target (even Fire will struggle to get out, this ice is special which makes fire get out of the frozen status like other non-fire pokemon)

I know it’s likely not going to happen. I know mega evolution is the ‘new thing’ – but that doesn’t mean I have to give a rat’s behind about it. I just can’t bond with something so *temporary* when the whole beauty of Pokemon evolution, right from the beginning, was the permanence of it, and as a result the careful choice you had to make as to whether you left your Pokemon as-is and it learned more moves, or whether you powered it up for good and had to teach it a bunch of TMs.

If I wanted something to evolve in battle for a massive powerboost and then power down again afterwards, I’d be playing Digimon.

What annoys me is that the defenders of mega evolution are all ‘well, you don’t have to use it’. No, I don’t. And if it was a simple as choosing not to use it I wouldn’t care. But what scares me is that GF are going to be so busy doing Mega Evos in future that they aren’t going to bother with prevos and evos anymore. Dunsparce will never become great. All the design creativity will be going into the temporary creatures I’ll never even touch. And since evos and prevos for preexisting pokemon was always my favourite part of a new game…well, this is a sad time for me.

I still love Pokemon; I probably always will. But with mega evos I feel for the first time that it’s gone in a direction I don’t like, and never will. /fangirlrant
