I always thought Ditto was just supposed to be like a blob of modelling clay. Since you can reshape anything made with clay into something else? I dunno lol that’s what i thought it was since i played pokemon red xD

My favorite Ditto theory is definitely the botched cloning attempts, a lot of people theorize that for a few reasons, Ditto is the same color as Mew, the only other Pokemon besides Mew that can learn Transform, and the fact that Ditto are found in the abandoned mansion where Mewtwo was eventually created. Too bad Team Rocket didn’t realize what they had, might have been able to make some serious cash off of selling Pokemon that can breed with almost any other Pokemon, lol.

And I also love the articles, definitely one of top faves on the site, I look forward to an Eevee article, I actually had an idea where you could do a week long thing posting an article everyday for a week, starting with Eevee on Tuesday then Vaporeon-Wednesday, Jolteon-Thursday, Flareon-Friday, Espeon-Saturday, Umbreon-Sunday, Leafeon-Monday and finish with Glaceon the next Tuesday, but I seriously doubt you’d have time to do that, lol.

What if the games developers just made Mew and Ditto similar without ever thinking about a backstory, leaving people still making up connections 15 years later when there are none?

This happens a lot in fiction. If it isn’t clearly indicated by the game, that’s likely because even the developers never gave it an explanation.
