Japanese players with Pokémon Black, White, Black 2, or White 2 will be able to download a special shiny Genesect to their games to coincide with the upcoming movie “Extremespeed Genesect and Mewtwo’s Awakening”. It is level 100 and comes with a Choice Scarf and the moves Extremespeed, Blaze Kick, and Shift Gear.

Great opportunity to snag a killer looking red Genesect! I’m pretty excited about it

Two bits of news from the Pokémon Global Link today. The first of which is the availability of a Bianca-inspired PokéDex skin for Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. It can be downloaded now in all international copies.

The second small piece of news is that the 2013 Spring Friendly is open for registration. It is an international competition for Black 2 and White 2 players and is limited to Unova PokéDex (BW2) including legendary Pokémon. Qualified participants will be able to download Black Kyurem and White Kyurem C-Gear skins.

With Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 coming out tomorrow, there’s a lot of excitement in the air! So our question today is: Do you have a team in mind for your playthrough of Black 2 or White 2? Or, if the case may be, why won’t you be playing BW2?? As a helpful reminder, here’s the regional Pokédex list for the two games so you can see what you have to choose from if you can’t trade with anyone/

I’ll go ahead and give a preliminary idea of the Pokémon I have in mind: Carnivine/Leafeon, Galvantula, Sigilyph, Crustle/Bisharp, Vaporeon/Crawdaunt, Chandelure.  As you can see, I’m pretty conflicted about what partners to train.  Feel free to also vote in this poll:

Pokémon.com has announced a registration bonus for customers who register Pokémon Black 2 or White 2 and one of the original fifth generation games, Black or White, with the same Pokémon Global Link account.  There are 6 total gifts:

• C-Gear Skins (3): Zekrom, Reshiram, and Victini
• PokéDolls (3): Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott

That’s a pretty nice extra for those of us who already have the first games and plan on buying their sequel. Lots of customization for our games and Dream World homes. Both games must be registered by January 17, 2013!

In a related bit of news, Nature Sanctuary will be Nature Preserve in Black 2 and White 2.

Although we know the boy as Kyouhei and the girl as Mei, their official names have been revealed to be Nate and Rosa (respectively)! Pretty good names in my opinion Behind the spoiler are two characters who are plot related. As Zowayix noted, these names play on the theme of “resonance” (kyoumei in Japanese) and their names sound like resonate.

Serebii is reporting on more English location names for the upcoming international release of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. Below are some of the details:

• Keeping their names: Castelia Sewers, Marine Tube, Plasma Frigate, Seaside Cave
• The competitive areas in Black City and White Forest are named Black Tower and White Treehollow respectively
• Clay Road -> Clay Tunnel
• Heart Cave -> Cave of Being
• Oath Forest -> Pledge Grove
• Relic Path -> Relic Passage
• Stranger’s House -> Strange House

The full article is here for your perusal. The information seems very similar to what we covered in the translated series of articles in which Masuda, who is the producer for both Pokémon Black and White; and also Black 2 and White 2, was interviewed by Famitsu.

One of the more interesting things was that fans have not been clamoring for an MMO (massively multiplayer online game) and that the press inquires about it more than his Twitter followers.  Although I personally see how a neutered Pokémon MMO would be a disappointment to most fans, I think we all wish for a persistent online universe in which we could literally become the best trainer in the world.

He was also questioned about the 2D nature of the Pokémon series and whether or not 3D would be a good direction to go.  Masuda’s tepid response does not leave me hopeful that Generation VI will have a substantial engine change for the 3DS, but I’ll keep hoping for a pleasant surprise
