Sadly we’ve run out of news again (Smash this morning was a total disappointment) so I’ll do a “state of the site”-esque article. While pokejungle trailblazed as a Pokémon blog during the launch of Pokemon Black and White, we’re slowly but surely trying to also cement our place as a resource center as well.  I’d encourage people to use the dropdown menu above (left of our Sewaddle logo in the banner) and find some great resources on Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. Just tonight I got up pages on the Gym Leaders, Characters, and Pokémon World Tournament.  Those pages will keep on expanding as more information comes and and also fill-out post-launch.

Our Pokédex/resource wiki “prof.” is also coming along nicely and I’d like to launch it alongside of Black 2 and White 2.  That’s my goal. It’ll be a great community-driven database which reflects on how I like to keep the main site a hub of reader contribution. It’ll be a little like Bulbapedia, a little like Smogon, and a whole lotta pokejungle. If it were a carbon copy of every other ‘dex out there I wouldn’t bother putting a lot of effort and time into it :p

Please REMEMBER we have:

  • Facebook / Twitter Accounts (latest news + Ozy & pokejungle’s boring life updates)
  • A Social Stream (people who register here can have avatars and message each other AND earn achievements)
  • A Forum (Mt. Moon Community, a great discussion board with a close-knit memberbase)
  • An Oekaki (a drawing board!  Show off your talent. There’s a board for serious artists and doodles)

These posts aren’t very interesting so I’ll wrap it up, but I’m definitely looking forward to delivering “Episode 2″ of The Jungle Games tomorrow! We got some great articles for you to read icon biggrin The rare self advertisement post

Good evening… (or, most likely, morning!)

Going to sleep in the next few minutes zzz.  Just wanted to touch base though icon smile Good evening... (or, most likely, morning!)  Sometimes I like to have a heart-to-heart post to you guys so you know what’s going on behind the scenes here.

  • Sewaddle: It’s from the ketai (cellphone) strap I bought at the Pokemon Center yesterday.  Adorable huh?!  I’m not much of a nerd as far as anime/manga goes, but I’m not afraid to indulge in Pokemon merchandise sometimes haha.  My iPhone has an N strap and now with this sewaddle clipped on as well.  If you’re in Tokyo and you see a guy with this on his iPhone… IT’S ME (maybe).  I posted a pic of the Pkmn Center visit on our Twitter.  Follow?
  • P2Cast: On hold.  Underestimated the amount of time I have to sit down in front of my computer.  Maybe it’s that if I don’t work then I’m not worried about putting clothes on and if I do work then I come home looking like a worn out Pidove…
  • Prof. (wiki): Looking forward to putting a lot more time in this soon icon smile Good evening... (or, most likely, morning!) Really want us to have a community based resource!
  • Upcoming articles: Tomorrow I’m planning to start a new series called Meet the Bushou. Each article will introduce 3 of the Bushou that have been revealed.  We’ll start from the newest that have been revealed icon smile Good evening... (or, most likely, morning!)

Yup.  That’s about it.  Hope everyone had a good Valentine’s Day.  Would love to hear answers to any (all?) of these questions in the comments: How are you today?, How can we improve pokejungle?, How was your Valentine’s Day?, and finally… What is your least favorite Pokemon?

New layouts are always fun, right?

Ooka of PokéBasic.com (I want their layout) gladly volunteered his time to work on a new layout for the site and I just put it up today~  Was done in January or so, but because I was apprehensive to cut the graphics all up and put it into WordPress’s theme engine I waited.  Luckily I decided to get a few things done today and this was on the top of my list ;D

Thoughts and feedback can go in the COMMENTS icon biggrin New layouts are always fun, right?  Enjoy guys!  I know my site has been an eyesore for awhile now D;

PSA: Ad Placement Change

Some of you who don’t block ads may notice that I’ve moved the ad from the sidebar to the top of the page under the banner.  I’m experimenting with ad placement in relation to clicks and whatnot.  Unfortunately ads are a necessary evil because PJN, MMC, and Smeargle cost around $170 to host and I am not swimming in money with my day job @ McDonald’s (but I’m putting in my two weeks today w00t w00t).

Just wanted to apologize for the ad but kind of explain why it’s there icon sad PSA: Ad Placement Change  PJN remained ad-free for most of its existence, but eventually I had to cave because asking for donations really doesn’t get you any money and that can be just as annoying as seeing an ad on the page.  So… forgive me?  Please?

ps- You’ll notice that I do NOT place ads to “Pre-Order Black/White” like some sites do.  I do not believe people should be encouraged to pre-order if they do not have a high level of Japanese reading skill.  I would warn against buying the Japanese version because it may not turn out to be as fun as you think it will when you don’t understand anything icon mad PSA: Ad Placement Change

Like the new layout?

Originally I was going to try and work around a banner that one of you did, but the artist who did those Pokemon wallpapers that I linked to you before previous approached me and we worked together to create a comprehensive minimalist-style WordPress look based on the new “2010″ theme.  Tomorrow though I will try to get up the “Fanart” page because I will NOT let your hard work go to waste <3  I want to proudly show off everyone’s work in a gallery on the site!!

Comments anyone?  I know it might turn some people off because of how “plain” or “simple” it might look, but this is how I like stuff x3
