Looking back at the past…

…while I move into the future.  I’m letting the nostalgia wash over me by looking through pictures of my life in Osaka back when I was 16/17.  Back then I had arrived in August amid the Diamond and Pearl news rush and eventually got to pick up Diamond the day it was released in Japan.  Somehow Serebii had already gotten a copy through black magic (or possibly just a ROM), but I was still pretty proud of being able to go to the local Toys ‘R Us and getting it.

Not sure if any of you remember pokejungle.net that far back…  it was a much smaller site that really didn’t do much different than the rest of the fansites (and there were a LOT back then), but because I was in Japan and got my hands on certain magazines and whatnot people still came to my site.  Even though I ended up shutting PJN down for a year when I was 20, I’m still proud of where it is today.

Did this post really have much of a point?  Nah.  Just let me relive the glory days of my youth :]  I look forward to covering the 3rd game (Grey?) while being in Japan, or any other Pokemon games that are released.

ps- we’re all still alive

In case anyone was wondering ;D  I’ve been busy since a friend of mine from out of state is in town with some of his college classmates and we’ve been having fun plus a bunch of other stuff.  Also I’ve been accepted into an English college in Tokyo, Japan for the Spring ’11 semester so right now my plan is to leave the US mid-December to move into my dorm.  I kept this whole process under wraps because I didn’t want to look stupid if I didn’t end up making it in :p  I’m *extremely* excited about this.

As far as site stuff goes… we still have a few more focus on articles to pump out.  I will be covering Grass and Bug… Daigo will be doing Ground… and NL wants another shot at writing one as well.

What I’d really love to do is have access to all the animated Black and White sprites so I can revamp PokePet to include all of them and make a mini-site for it.  Ah well.  I’ll continue to be patient.

Like the new layout?

Originally I was going to try and work around a banner that one of you did, but the artist who did those Pokemon wallpapers that I linked to you before previous approached me and we worked together to create a comprehensive minimalist-style WordPress look based on the new “2010″ theme.  Tomorrow though I will try to get up the “Fanart” page because I will NOT let your hard work go to waste <3  I want to proudly show off everyone’s work in a gallery on the site!!

Comments anyone?  I know it might turn some people off because of how “plain” or “simple” it might look, but this is how I like stuff x3

Ongoing Banner Project

So far Keanno’s banner is the top choice, both for me personally and by popular opinion it seems in the comments.  That being said, I feel bad even having to choose.  There were SO many great banners created by all of you (many, many more than I expected) and I wish I had a giant ‘PJN Fridge’ to hang them on.  After I put up the new layout I can begin creating some pages (this layout is too squished to add stuff like that) and I promise to have a “Fanart” page where ALL banners created in this contest and any other art people do for me will appear.  I’m amazed at how many talented people visit my site *_*

The banner creation period has not ended yet so I would still love to see any other banners you guys can cook up!  Just comment here on this article!  I tried to comment on every artist who submitted work so flag me down if you didn’t get a comment and make sure I saw your banner!

Slow news day though.  I dunno about you guys but I want to read some rumors.  Gotta wait for some to surface though…  Keep checking back, hopefully something will break tonight :3  Also I have time to finish Gun’s Scizor contest today.  My friend ended up coming over last night so I didn’t drive him home until like 1:30am.

ps- I’ve heard at least one request for a real time chat on the site.  Anyone else want this?  I could build something into the next layout.

Image not mine, and this has been around for a bit… but interesting nonetheless.  The previous pokedex rumor DID end at 150 and since Victini is #000 that would be 151 total pokemon in the dex… ? UPD: Img uploaded to PJN.

I’m going to bed. Hmph.

I’m tired and I have a headache.  And I’ll do Goon’s Scizor tomorrow.  Don’t stone me plz.

BUT.  The reason I’m updating is that I need a new banner for the layout I’m working on and I’m shit with graphics.  So… anyone want to have a go with it?  I’d like it to have a green/black scheme, but really anything with green works and either focus on Tsutaja OR Chikorita.  :3  It needs to be 940px wide by 198px tall.  Anyone up for it!?  I know someone originally offered me gfx services and linked to their dA but I forgot to get in touch with them D:  To them I offer a sincere apology.  I would love to see if my visitors could come up with something!  Plus what would be cooler than getting your banner featured on PJN (answer: a hell of a lot of things)?  If there are enough good ones I may put in a rotation script!

So if you do make a banner please upload it to a free image hosting site (Image Shack, Imgur, Photobucket, etc) and link it in the comments!  <3 <3 <3

ps- Also post comments about ideas on a contest to win Satoshi’s Pikachu.  I have it downloaded now.  I will never be compiling lists of names again in order to decide a winner… MUCH too long.  So give me some food for thought if you’ve got it <3  Good time to through in site suggests as well as I’m working on the next version of the blog ;)
