ps- we’re all still alive

In case anyone was wondering ;D  I’ve been busy since a friend of mine from out of state is in town with some of his college classmates and we’ve been having fun plus a bunch of other stuff.  Also I’ve been accepted into an English college in Tokyo, Japan for the Spring ’11 semester so right now my plan is to leave the US mid-December to move into my dorm.  I kept this whole process under wraps because I didn’t want to look stupid if I didn’t end up making it in :p  I’m *extremely* excited about this.

As far as site stuff goes… we still have a few more focus on articles to pump out.  I will be covering Grass and Bug… Daigo will be doing Ground… and NL wants another shot at writing one as well.

What I’d really love to do is have access to all the animated Black and White sprites so I can revamp PokePet to include all of them and make a mini-site for it.  Ah well.  I’ll continue to be patient.

NOA Rumor 3 + tidbits (FALSE)

This is rumor territory and should NOT under ANY circumstances be counted as fact until it is PROVEN. Please enjoy it for what it is.  Below are some more tidbits that the “NOA contact” has sent me, but remember that NOTHING has been proven about what he has said thus far.  Here goes:

  • Mijumaru has a fairly stoic disposition, it’s not frowning because it’s sad.
  • Munna is NOT related to drowzee and has a powerful evolution ala Magikarp/Feebas
  • Giaru (Gear) has a “special relationship” to another pokemon that could be controversial.  Not sure exactly what this means, but we have had Shellder/Slowbro… Remoraid/Mantine sort of stuff.
  • Chiramii, Hihidaruma, and Shimama do NOT evolve
  • Mamepato’s “Pidgeon Breast” ability is rather reflective of it’s “defensive” nature and goes along somewhat with its evolutions which are replace normal with another type.  It has 2 more evolutions like most starting bird pokemon.
  • Meguroko’s name is actually derived from the “me” (eye in Japanese) and it becomes apparent in its evolution which features a very Egyptian-ish design for the eye.
  • Moguryu has two evolutions, so there is one in the middle before it evolves into Doryuuzu (the drill mole pokemon we saw earlier)
  • Dunchura (the tarantula) is a second stage evolution
  • Serufiru does NOT evolve… directly.  It could be a form changing pokemon ala Rotom
  • Gizajemu is not related to Nosepass and he Sugimori art actually has yellow gems instead of Red, so there could be a color-changing aspect in its lore, if not in the game itself
  • Goshikkuro is an evolved pokemon with opposite typing
  • Koromori because less like the “new zubat” people have been describing it as when it evolves (I think this was just the catchall term people have been using because it’s the new bat-like pokemon, possibly something you’ll encounter early on.  So this could mean that it is stronger than Zubat line or less bat-like)

Alright!  That is it for that!  Buuuuut a Japanese blog has also written up an interesting new rumor!

  • The video chat for up to 4 players using DSi or DSi XL systems (which was mentioned in a rumor previously) will be called Live Caster (or Live Cast) and will be accessible mid-way through the adventure from the C-Gear.

Is this your rival?

This is a screenshot of Pokemon Sunday and the above screenshot is saying “I will become the champion”.  Could this be our rival…?  If so it looks like he’s much older than any from previous generations.

Also important (in order during the clip):  Battle animations are shown and look AWESOME if I may be so bold.  Very animated <3 We also see someone with a mask covering one eye (male Lady Gaga?) who looks quite evil… Then we see a scene which looks like it could be a gym battle with the familiar sprite vs sprite, the female is named Cheren.  Gym Leader?  Evil syndicate member?  Also a rollercoaster :p  We’ll see B&W hit Japan on the 18th of September… although that date has been floating around for forever.

ps- Let’s talk a second about the ‘Cheren Dilemma’ if you watch the video, you’ll see the main character battles her and a “VS” screen comes up, like Gym Leaders and the Elite 4 had in 4th Gen games.  HOWEVER if you look closely at the room they are in it is clearly unlike any gym in any generation so far, mainly because it looks like just a messy house room.  So now we have to speculate… do we really think she’s a gym leader?  Or is she someone else?  Perhaps connected to the evil team?  She is shown right after the evil looking guy.  Comments?

More 2ch Gossip Translated

Because I have fun with it, I’ve decided to translate some RUMORS again.  So… this is just for fun.  I think only 2 or 3 of the last turned out to be true, so don’t put any bets on these:

  • Nitro Charge (ニトロチャージ) a fire attack that can raise speed
  • Shell Blade (シェルブレード) a water attack that can lower defense
  • Grass Mixer (グラスミキサー) a grass attack that has a yet-to-be-known extra effect
  • Zoroa and Zoroark’s “Illusion” ability will only last until they are damaged (they’ll show their true form after that)
  • The attack “night burst” will affect both opposing pokemon in double battle
  • Possible new ability “Vengence” (かたきうち) [this is a really iffy translation, might not be ability]
  • Chiramii will evolve into Ganmii (dark type) if its leveled while holding a certain item. [I'm going to "lol" if this turns out to be true- its almost certainly not]

That’s it for now.  Enjoy.  Anyone want to guess which ones might come true in the comments?  Remember these are 99% false and just translated for fun while we wait for official info :3

PS- I think the only rumors that were correct from the last batch were Araragi being the Professor (and her being female), the mouse / bird / orange pokemon being revealed, and … hmm … maybe that was it.  See… bad track record for 2ch :p

Rumors on 2ch…

Since we’re waiting for CoroCoro to leak, why not look at the current rumors?!  Below are 100% unconfirmed and probably baseless rumors:

Professor
* Several posts on 2ch have said that Araragi ( アララギ ) is the new professors name. In Japanese that is a type of Lily… female professor!?

Legendaries
* Reshiram is rumored to be an Ice/Dragon type.

* Zekrom is rumored to be an Electric/Dragon type.

* Reshiram and Zekrom can change types during battle?

* The three legendary silhouettes will be revealed… One looks like “cotton” (lol wtf?), one looks like a dog, and one is standing on two legs.

Map
* Looks like an upside-down version of Honshu (the main area of Japan, map here if you don’t know what I’m talking about)

Characters
* The main character’s father (your in-game dad) is supposedly an archeologist.

Story/Plot/Adventure
* May stray from the traditional 8 badges…

* Might expand upon some good/evil either with Pokemon or for storyline

Pokemon
* Zoroa can be obtained in Hiun City by looking through garbage cans and you must chase after it to start a battle. It will be male, lv15

* Some new pokemon are going to be revealed… A kappa-like one (mouse-ish as well?), a praying mantis, a bird with tufty-wings, and an orange colored dog pokemon.

This stuff is just conjecture, but might as well get some discussion spurred on as long as we’re waiting for hard evidence!
