New battle strategies with generation VII?

Recommended Posts

With generation VII multiple new abilities and moves and of course Pokémon were introduced.

Do you already have an idea how you could use these in battles?

I thought of a combination of Hypno and Toxapex, Hypno uses Poison Gas which will make any attack Toxapex does a critical it is still very rough.. I also have the idea of using a Pyukumuku and an Aromatisse, but Aromatisse isn't in the Alola Regional Dex which means you can't use it in the current battle season

All Pokemon allowed in the current battle season: Alola Regional Dex

PS: There is also a competition next Friday --> Battle of Alola

Toxapex is better off with Regenerator and in Singles, IMO. Also I wouldn't do Merciless Toxapex or toxistall in general because Tapu Fini.

Here are some doubles strategies you can look at (and watch out for):
1. Ninetales Aurora Veil
2. Oranguru sets up Trick Room... then Torkoal Eruption + Oranguru Instruct
3. (the obvious) Koko + Raichu
4. Marowak + Gyarados
5. Marowak in general since it beats Ultra Beasts other than Nihilego
6. Lilligant After You + Torkoal Eruption
7. Tapu Lele no-priority fast team
8. Pelipper by itself
9. Celesteela is everywhere coz Wide Guard
10. Double Intimidate teams (usually Salamence + Arcanine)

Pyukumuku by itself in Singles is a painful gimmick that stops any setup sweeper cold. Max out HP and Defense.

Taunt to stop them from setting up too much.

If they're a physical sweeper, Counter = dead. Even if they kill pyukumuku in one hit, they're still dead.

If they're a special sweeper, just die = sweeper dead. Use Toxic just in case they switch.

I always like to try to think of my own strategies before going to Smogon or similar. Fun thing is the VGC Winner from a couple of years back used a Follow Me strategy, I also had thought of that but I also included a Sniper ability, it's great feeling thinking of that on your own and later finding out it won tournaments.

Not that I don't appreciate the information that is why I made the topic. If I would use one of these "Pre made" sets it wouldn't really feel like I did anything.

I wondered what is better? 252EV in HP and 128EV in each defence or 252EV in each defence?
