This scan, found by tkwb and AAPF, detail 3 new Bushou for + Nobunaga! Here are the translated details:

  • + Kanbeh with Lampent: Since his commander, Hideyoshi, vanished he has teamed with Hanbeh. “We do the things the things we must”
  • + Hanbeh and Pikachu: Commander Hideyoshi’s lazy Bushou. His partner is a well known Pikachu. “This is time consuming, so let’s finish quickly.”
  • + Nene (neh-neh) with Golbat: She is devoted to Nobunaga. Nene is a strong willed female Bushou. She fights with Hideyoshi against the player. “Everyone, if you fight with each other I will punish you.”

Cool, huh? I guess these really were based on historical figures because my boyfriend gave me a mini history lesson while he was translating.

Focus On: Black Kyurem & White Kyurem

This is a special edition of our ‘First Look’ series in which we’re going to do a preview of a yet unreleased Pokémon.  It may be two formes of the Kyurem we know or, from what Masuda’s twitter has suggested, these may be two distinct Pokemon.  We’ll report on that as soon as we hear about it!  Let’s take today to go over the appearance of these two legendaries.

Black Kyurem: The Zekrom-derived Kyurem is definitely a beast.  The gray goes well with the black and gives it a fairly nice look.  The asymmetrical addition of one ice wing and one ice arm & claw also give it a great look which stays true to the Ice/Dragon type Pokémon that Kyurem is. The only thing about its design that I’m not super hot on is the head.  The block ice chunk jutting out by its mouth isn’t very subtle and the Pharaoh-esque beard isn’t something that impresses me either. Overall however, I love the design.

White Kyurem: The Reshiram-derived forme/pokémon is also a formidable design.  I commented on the gray looking great on Black Kyurem, but here it has a lot less impact to the eye because of the light gray not standing out on the white.  It doesn’t look bad, but the colors there don’t differentiate it as much when compared to the original Reshiram. One of my favorite parts about this design though is the ice arm-wing.  Again there’s an asymmetrical design in which the icy additions counter the original look. The ice claw on each foot also stands out to me as a great design choice.  Again, not totally on board with  the heavy-handed ice blocks on the sides of its head, but it somehow looks better on White Kyurem than it did on Black to me. A nice design, but comes in second to Black Kyurem.

What we have to look forward to: Typing! There are ice parts of these dragons who were inspired from fire and electric type pokémon! Also curious to see what the sprites will look like, sure they’ll be pretty amazing.  I was impressed by the Reshiram/Zekrom sprites in Black and White so I expect that these will be the same level of quality. Also a huge part of these formes/pokémon will be the backstory. Very interested in how Black and White 2 will explain the story of these two and how they’ll relate to the main character.

And it gets a 34/40 (thanks for scanning in Karubi)!  Maybe not the perfect score we were looking for, but the reviewers did have some interesting tidbits:

The tie-up of pokemon and Nobunaga was unexpected, but after playing it for awhile, it doesn’t seem unexpected at all.It’s easy for kids to play because of it’s simplicity. Gathering pokemon is fun and integrated well into Pokemon + Nobunaga. It also has high replay value. – Reona Ebihara

Pokémon weaknesses are easy to understand for fans, and the tutorials are easy as well. It’s fun looking for your partner pokemon and the replay value is high. If one was allowed to wish for more, I would say I wanted more graphics for bushous besides the main ones. – “Devil” Fujihara

Pokémon + Nobuna successfully incorporates both games to make a whole new world view of the series. The 6 on 6 battle is easy to dive in to and easy to understand, and the knowledge of Pokémon’s abilities are a important factor for the battles. The increase of Pokémon and Busho is also very exciting. – “Maria” Yoshiike

It doesn’t just stop at a simulation game, but goes beyond that because Pokémon + Nobunaga uses types to make it even more strategical. It’s like pokémon in that you can collect the monsters. The difficulty is pretty low and some people might find it not high enough, but the tutorials make it easy for people who are playing simulation games for the first time. – “Badadaichi”

One heartening thing is that the game is listed as having a target audience of elementary school-aged children all the way through college students.  Also heartened to hear it has high replay value icon smile Famitsu Reviews Pokémon + Nobunaga (UPD)  Definitely a game I’m excited for.  Only 10 days left!  On the 16th a special manga will be released online which we will post here, but edit it into English for you guys icon wink Famitsu Reviews Pokémon + Nobunaga (UPD)

Update: NL has graciously translated a few more pieces for us about the game (general information).

  • - There are mines that you can use to increase your funds
  • - The altitude/direction of attacking pkmn in relation to the defending pkmn does not impact battle as much as pure type advantage
  • - Type advantages can be looked up in game
  • - Certain stages are ‘Facility levels’ and change how items and effects work
  • - Downloadable episodes have increased difficulty

Ever wanted to have both dragons, but you don’t want to buy two versions? Well, now you can!

Nintendo has announced a giveaway in which you can receive the opposing dragon. It will be given out as Wifi-Connection event, where you receive the dragon different from your box-art one.  You can then tuck in that Reshiram or Zekrom to the Dream World, from where you can receive special C-Gear skins. This event runs from March 10 till April 8, so get it while you can. Zekrom knows the moves: Fusion Bolt, Bolt Strike, Haze and Outrage. Reshiram knows the moves: Fusion Flare, Blue Flare, Mist and Draco Meteor. They will both be holding the Dragon Gem.

This is actually a cool giveaway, and leads up nicely towards Black/White 2.  You can find the discussion as always below in the comments. I finally got my (temporary) driver’s license, and I’m very tired, so this post is rather quick and dirty.

[EDIT NOTE] – Due to a confusing source and my own tiredness, the article wrongly said you received the Pokémon through the Dream World. So, I fixed this and I hope you can forgive me.
